Description
さまざまな実施の形態は、一般に高いデータビット密度のデータ記憶環境で使用可能な磁性素子に向けられる。
データ利用の普及により、データ記憶装置、特により速いデータアクセス時間およびデータアクセスのより高い信頼性を有する装置での、外形因子およびデータ容量の重要性が強調されている。速いデータアクセス時間と合わせたデータ記憶容量の増加は、データリーダ積層およびデータ書込磁極といったより小さいデータアクセスコンポーネントならびにさらに安定した磁気遮蔽に対応し得る。しかし、メッキされたコンポーネントの遮蔽は、磁場勾配、磁気モーメントおよび磁気特性の柔軟性といった磁気性能に悪影響を与え得る処理および設計上の複雑性を与え得る。逆に、機械加工されたデータアクセスコンポーネントの使用は磁気性能を維持可能とするが、台形形状の書込磁極といった形状のコンポーネントについての製造を困難にする。したがって、磁場および勾配を減少させることなく、機械加工によって外形因子が減少したデータ記憶装置を実施可能にする磁気シールド構成に対して工業的ニーズがある。
Claims (5)
- 装置であって、第1および第2のサイドシールドならびに第1および第2の縦シールドを含むボックスシールド内に書込磁極を備え、前記書込磁極は、同じでない材料からなる少なくとも2つのギャップ層を備える多層ギャップ構造によって前記ボックスシールドから分離され、前記多層ギャップ構造は、機械加工ストップ層によって分離される第1および第2の非磁性ギャップ層を含む、装置。
- 前記多層ギャップ構造は、各シールドを前記書込磁極と物理的に接続させる、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記多層ギャップ構造は、前記書込磁極を連続的に取囲む、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 磁性素子であって、第1および第2のサイドシールドならびに第1および第2の縦シールドを含むボックスシールド内に書込磁極を備え、前記書込磁極は、機械加工ストップ層によって分離される第1および第2の非磁性ギャップ層を含む多層ギャップ構造によって前記ボックスシールドから分離され、前記非磁性ギャップ層および機械加工ストップ層の少なくとも2層は同じでない材料から形成される、磁性素子。
- データライタであって、第1および第2のサイドシールドならびに第1および第2の縦シールドを含むボックスシールド内に書込磁極を備え、前記書込磁極は、同じでない材料からなる少なくとも2つのギャップ層を備える多層ギャップ構造によって前記ボックスシールドから分離され、前記多層ギャップ構造は、機械加工ストップ層によって分離される第1および第2の非磁性ギャップ層を含み、前記多層ギャップ構造の少なくとも1つの第1のギャップ層は、サイドシールドおよび後縁シールド間のレターボックス領域に延在する、データライタ。
