ここで、PoutおよびPinは、それぞれ、出力および入力を示し、FFは、下記式で表すことができる。
FF=[Jm×Vm]/[Jsc×Voc]
ここで、Jmは極大出力点での電流を示し、Vmは極大出力点での電圧を示す。
特許文献2は、スクアリリウム骨格と、ベンゾチオフェン骨格とを有するオリゴマーが、狭いバンド幅および広い吸収波長領域を示すことを開示している。
このように、従来の電子ドナーを用いた有機薄膜太陽電池の多くは、利用波長が可視光域に限られ、近赤外光を有効利用できない。
で表される骨格を有するスクアリリウム化合物を含む、薄膜に関する。
本発明のスクアリリウム化合物は、下記式(A)で表される骨格を有する。
本発明のスクアリリウム化合物は、これを含む薄膜の形態で測定した紫外可視吸収スペクトルにおいて、λmaxが、例えば、750nm以上、好ましくは760nm以上、さらに好ましくは770nm以上である。また、スクアリリウム化合物を含む薄膜の紫外可視吸収スペクトルにおいて、λonsetは、例えば、800nmを超え、好ましくは810nm以上、さらに好ましくは820nm以上となる場合もある。このように、本発明のスクアリリウム化合物は、800nmを超えるような波長の光線でも、有効に吸収することが可能である。
式(X1)で表される三価基のうち、特に、下記式(X2)または(X3)で表される三価基が好ましい。
式(Y1)で表される二価基のうち、特に、下記式(Y2)または(Y3)で表される二価基が好ましい。
上記の炭化水素基のうち、特にアルキル基が好ましい。
有機溶媒に対するスクアリリウム化合物の溶解性を高める観点から、R1およびR2は、それぞれ独立に、炭化水素基であるのが好ましい。R1とR2は、同じ炭化水素基であってもよい。
R8およびR14で表される炭化水素基としては、炭素数4〜16のアルキル基が好ましく、炭素数8〜14のアルキル基がさらに好ましい。
R9a、R9b、R15aおよびR15bは、好ましくは、炭素数1〜3のアルキル基であり、R9c、R9d、R15cおよびR15dは、好ましくは水素原子または炭素数1〜3のアルキル基である。
q1が2以上の場合、ベンゼン環が有する複数のR10は、それぞれ、同一であってもよく、異なっていてもよい。また、q2が2以上の場合、ベンゼン環が有する複数のR16は、それぞれ、同一であってもよく、異なっていてもよい。
R10およびR16は、それぞれ独立に、炭化水素基であるのが好ましく、炭素数1〜3のアルキル基(特に、メチル基またはエチル基)であるのがさらに好ましい。
R20a〜R20cで表される炭化水素基としては、R5〜R7で表される炭化水素基と同様のものが例示できる。
置換基R20の個数mは、好ましくは0〜3、さらに好ましくは1または2である。
薄膜は、剥離性であってもよい基材シートの表面に、構成成分を含む溶液を、スピンキャストなどの方法により塗布することで形成できる。
熱アニールでは、例えば、50〜120℃の温度で、薄膜を加熱する。加熱時間は、例えば、10分〜6時間である。
スクアリリウム化合物を含む薄膜は、近赤外領域の光線に対して非常に高い吸収能を有しており、前記のようなλmaxおよびλonsetを有する。
本発明のスクアリリウム化合物は、BD骨格に対応するベンゾチオフェン化合物と、SQD骨格に対応するスクアリリウム色素化合物とを、公知の反応を利用して、両骨格を連結させることにより得ることができる。
具体的には、例えば、BD骨格を有する有機スズ化合物(BD−Sn)と、SQD骨格を有する化合物(SQD−X)とを、Stilleカップリング反応させることにより、スクアリリウム化合物を得ることができる。
Stilleカップリング工程は、下記の反応工程式で表すことができる。
X1で表されるハロゲン原子としては、塩素、臭素、ヨウ素原子などが例示できる。X1は、好ましくはヨウ素原子である。
反応時間は、反応原料の種類や、式(A)で表される骨格における繰り返し数nに応じて、例えば、10〜200時間程度の範囲から選択できる。
原料となるBD−SnおよびSQD−Xは、それぞれ、市販のものを用いてもよく、公知の反応を利用して、合成したものを用いてもよい。
BD−Snは、例えば、下記式に従って、BD骨格に対応するベンゾジチオフェンと、(R21)3SnClとを反応させることにより得ることができる。
上記反応は、例えば、n−ブチルリチウムなどの有機リチウム化合物の存在下、テトラヒドロフラン(THF)などの有機溶媒(極性非プロトン性溶媒など)中で、行うことができる。
SQD−Xは、例えば、SQ骨格に対応するスクアリン酸化合物と、環Xに対応するハロゲン化物および環Yに対応するハロゲン化物とを反応させることにより、得ることができる。
R22で表されるアルキル基としては、メチル、エチル、プロピル、n−ブチル、sec−ブチル、tert−ブチル基などのC1-6アルキル基が例示できる。
上記反応に使用されるスクアリン酸化合物、環Xに対応するハロゲン化物および環Yに対応するハロゲン化物は、それぞれ、市販のものを使用してもよく、公知の反応を利用して合成してもよい。
上記スクアリン酸化合物(アニオン)は、例えば、スクアリン酸またはそのアルキルエステルと、ジシアノメタンとを反応させることにより得ることができる。
この反応は、トリエチルアミンなどの有機アミン(第3級アミンなど)の存在下で行うことができる。そのため、スクアリン酸は、アルキルエステルに変換して、ジシアノメタンとの反応に供するのが好ましい。
有機薄膜太陽電池は、電子ドナーおよび電子アクセプターを含む光電変換層を有する。本発明では、電子ドナーが、上記の本発明のスクアリリウム化合物を含み、電子アクセプターがフラーレン化合物を含む。
電子アクセプターとしては、有機薄膜太陽電池の電子アクセプターとして公知の材料、例えば、PC61BM、[6,6]−フェニル−C71−酢酸メチルエステル(PC71BM)などのフラーレン化合物(フェニル基と、メトキシカルボニルプロピル基とを有するフラーレン化合物など)が使用できる。電子アクセプターは、一種を単独でまたは二種以上を組み合わせて使用できる。PC71BMを用いると、PC61BMを用いた場合に比べて、エネルギー変換効率を高めることができる。
二層型の有機薄膜太陽電池では、光電変換層は、電子ドナーを含む層と、電子アクセプターを含む層とを少なくとも有する。光電変換層は、p−n接合であってもよく、電子ドナーを含む層と、電子アクセプターを含む層との間に、電子ドナーおよび電子アクセプターの混合物の層が形成されたp−i−n接合であってもよい。
透明電極層の厚みは、例えば、1〜1000nmである。透明電極層は、公知の方法、例えば、真空蒸着やイオンスパッタリングなどにより形成できる。
ホール移動層の厚みは、例えば、10〜300nmである。ホール移動層は、公知の方法、例えば、上記の物質を含む分散液や溶液を、透明電極層の表面にスピンコーティングなどにより塗布することにより形成できる。
電子移動層の厚みは、例えば、0.1〜5nm、好ましくは0.1〜0.3nmである。
アノード層の厚みは、例えば、1〜300nm、好ましくは10〜300nmである。
電子移動層やアノード層は、公知の方法、例えば、真空蒸着やイオンスパッタリングなどにより形成できる。
下記の反応工程式に従って、下記の手順で、下記式(5)で表される骨格を有するスクアリリウム化合物を合成した。
K. Y. Law, F. C. Bailey, Can. J. Chem. 1986, 64, 2267-2273、およびR. I. Zubatyuk, V. N. Baumer, A. L. Tatarets, L. D. Patsenker, O. V. Shishkin, Acta. Cryst. 2004, E60, o2252-o2254に記載の方法に従って、式(1)で表される2−ブトキシ−3−(ジシアノメチレン)−4−オキソシクロブテ−1−エノラートを合成した。
1−ブタノール30mlおよびピリジン30mlの混合液に、上記(a)で得られた式(1)のトリエチルアンモニウム 2−ブトキシ−3−(ジシアノメチレン)−4−オキソシクロブテ−1−エノラート(1.929g,6.04mmol)と、式(2)で表される1−ドデシル−5−ヨード−2,3,3−トリメチル−3H−インドール−1−イウムヨーダイド(7.507g,12.91mmol)と、触媒量のキノリンを添加し、混合物を、攪拌下、80℃で、2時間加熱して反応させ、室温まで冷却した。
1H-NMR (CDCl3, 400 MHz): δ 0.87 (t, 6H, J = 6.7 Hz), 1.20-1.42(m, 36H), 1.71- 1.80(m, 16H), 3.97 (t, 4H, 7.5 Hz), 6.52 (s, 2H), 6.81 (d, 2H, J = 8.3 Hz), 7.62-7.66 (m, 4H).
TOF-MS (m/z) 1032 ([M]+).
質量分析:
計算値(C53H70I2N4O): C, 61.63; H, 6.83; N, 5.42.
検出値:C, 61.84; H, 6.94; N, 5.09.

上記(b)で得られたSQ2−I(979mg,9.48×10-4mol)、式(4)で表されるスズ化ベンゾジチオフェン誘導体(736mg,9.51×10-4mol)、触媒としてのPd(PPh3)4(46.3mg,4.01×10-5mol)およびヨウ化第一銅CuI(8.01mg,4.21×10-5mol)を、シュレンク管に入れ、窒素雰囲気下で、脱水トルエン/脱水DMF混合液(4/1(v/v))16.8mlを加えて、50℃で120時間攪拌することにより反応を行った。なお、脱水トルエン/脱水DMF混合液は、凍結脱気を3回行ったものを用いた。

分子量(ポリスチレン換算分子量)は、安定剤を含むTHFを展開溶媒として用い、40℃で、GPC(東ソー製,TSKgel MultiporeHXL-M)により測定した。
実施例1に準じて、下記式(6)で表される骨格を有するスクアリリウム化合物(poly−SQ1)を合成した。
得られたpoly−SQ1について、GPC(THF,40℃)で測定した分子量は、Mn=7000、Mw=11000、Mp=12600、Mw/Mn=1.57であった。
実施例1および比較例1で得られた各スクアリリウム化合物について、クロロホルム中、および薄膜中で、紫外可視吸収スペクトルを測定した。
具体的には、各スクアリリウム化合物を、5.0×106mol/lの濃度で含むクロロホルム溶液を調製し、この溶液の紫外可視吸収スペクトルを測定した。
また、薄膜中での紫外可視吸収スペクトルは、各スクアリリウム化合物を、10mg/mlの濃度で含むクロロホルム溶液を調製し、この溶液を、石英ガラス表面にスパンコートすることにより薄膜を作製し、この薄膜について測定した。

実施例および比較例で得られた各スクアリリウム化合物を0.1unit mmol/lの濃度で含む塩化メチレン溶液のサイクリックボルタンメトリー(CV)を測定し、酸化側の電位E1/2を求めた。CV測定は、参照電極に0.1mol/lの硝酸銀水溶液を用い、電解質に0.1mol/lの過塩素酸テトラブチルアンモニウムを用いて、スキャン速度100mV/sで行った。なお、CVでは、poly−SQ1およびpoly−SQ2ともに、二段階の可逆的酸化によりピークが観察された。
このEOX,1/2から、スクアリリウム化合物のHOMOのエネルギー準位EHOMOを、下記式により算出した。下記式に示されるように、EHOMOは、EOX,1/2から、真空中でのフェロセンのエネルギー準位(4.80eV)、および上記と同じCVの測定条件で得られたフェロセンのEOX,1/2=0.16Vから補正することにより算出される。

EOX、EHOMOおよびELUMOの値を表1に示すとともに、poly−SQ1およびpoly−SQ2のエネルギーダイアグラムを図4に示す。図4には、P3HTおよびPC61BMのエネルギーダイアグラムも合わせて示した。
また、SQ2−Iおよびpoly−SQ2の紫外可視吸収スペクトルを、図5に示す。
実施例1および比較例1で得られたスクアリリウム化合物poly−SQ1およびpoly−SQ2のそれぞれを用いて、下記の手順で、図1に示す二層型有機薄膜太陽電池を作製した。
PC61BMに代えて、PC71BMを用いる以外は、実施例2と同様にして、有機薄膜太陽電池を作製した。
下記の手順に従って、光電交換層を形成する以外は、実施例2と同様にして、有機薄膜太陽電池を作製した。
PC61BMに代えて、PC71BMを用いる以外は、実施例2と同様にして、スクアリリウム化合物およびPC71BMを含むクロロホルム溶液を調製した。得られたクロロホルム溶液を、スピンコート法により、回転速度2,000rpmで、80秒かけて、ホール移動層3の表面に塗布し、塗膜を形成した。塗膜を、溶媒蒸気アニール(クロロホルム蒸気雰囲気下、室温で30分放置)することにより、光電変換層4を形成した。
なお、実施例の有機薄膜太陽電池のIPCE曲線は、400〜1000nmの幅広い波長範囲の光線に対して、比較例よりも高い強度で、応答可能であることを示した。

- R1およびR2が、それぞれ独立に、炭素数4〜14のアルキル基であり、R3およびR4が、それぞれ独立に、水素原子または炭素数1〜3のアルキル基である、請求項1または2に記載の薄膜。
- 前記式(A)において、前記環Xに対応する三価基が、下記式:
で表され、前記環Yに対応する二価基が、下記式(Y1):
で表される、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の薄膜。 - R8およびR14が、それぞれ独立に、炭素数4〜16のアルキル基であり、R9およびR15が、それぞれ独立に、炭素数1〜3のアルキル基であり、R10およびR16が、それぞれ独立に、炭素数1〜3のアルキル基であり、p1は0〜2の整数であり、q1は0〜3の整数である、請求項4に記載の薄膜。
- nが11〜100の整数である、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の薄膜。
- さらに、電子アクセプターとしてのフラーレン化合物を含む請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の薄膜。
- 前記スクアリリウム化合物の紫外可視吸収スペクトルの極大吸収波長λmaxが750nm以上である、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の薄膜。
- 電子ドナーおよび電子アクセプターを含む光電変換層を有し、
前記電子ドナーが、下記式(A):
で表される骨格を有するスクアリリウム化合物を含み、
前記電子アクセプターがフラーレン化合物を含む、有機薄膜太陽電池。 - 前記スクアリリウム化合物が、前記式(A)において、R1およびR2が、それぞれ独立に、炭素数1〜16の炭化水素基であり、nが11〜100である化合物である、請求項10に記載の有機薄膜太陽電池。
