(他の実施形態)
(1)上述の実施形態では、反応容器9と作用電極セル7という異なる容器を用意し、一方の容器である反応容器9に水9aを収容し、他方の容器である作用電極セル7にイオン性液体を収容するとともに、作用電極セル7の底部を陽イオン交換膜11で構成し、作用電極セル7の底部を水9aに浸漬させた。
以下、本発明を具体的に説明するか、本発明は下記の例に限定されるものではない。なお、以下の例において、全ての試薬及び溶媒は、和光純薬工業、東京化成工業、シグマアルドリッチから購入したものをそのまままたは蒸留した後使用した。ミリQ水はMillipore Milli-Q biocel Aにより得た。

測定はVarian社製Mercury 300 MHzフーリエ変換核磁気共鳴装置を使用した。ケミカルシフトの基準物質にはTMSを用いた。測定には内径5 mmのサンプルチューブを用い、チューブ内に任意の重溶媒の試料溶液を入れて行った。
[IRスペクトル測定]
測定装置はJASCO社製フーリエ変換赤外分光光度計 FT/IR-410を使用した。測定領域は波数 400-4000 cm-1に設定した。測定には、サンプルをメノウ乳鉢上でKBrに対して1.5-2.0 % wtになるように混合粉砕した後、円筒型金属製セルに3 mg程度充填したものをプレス機で作成した薄膜を用いた。ベースライン測定には同様に準備したKBr薄膜を用いた。
[イオン性液体の合成]
本実施例では下記式(X)で表されるイオン性液体を合成した。
1H-NMR (D2O, 300 MHz): δ 0.88 (t, 3H, J = 7.43 Hz, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4), 1.32 (sextuplet, 2H, J = 7.43 Hz , CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4), 1.71 (m, 2H, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4), 2.15 (m, 4H, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4), 2.97 (s, 3H, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4), 3.25 (m, 2H, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4), 3.43 (m, 4H, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4)
1H-NMR (δ/ppm vs. TMS in CDCl3 from 300 MHz): δ 0.99 (t, 3H, J = 7.43 Hz, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4), 1.42 (sextuplet, 2H, J = 7.43 Hz, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4), 1.75 (m, 2H, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4), 2.26 (m, 4H, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4), 3.05 (s, 3H, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4), 3.32 (m, 2H, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4), 3.45 (m, 4H, CH3CH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)C2H4C2H4),
FT-IR(KBr, cm-1) : ν = 2963, 2935, 2874 (Alkyl C-H), δ = 1462 (Alkyl C-C), ν = 1359, 1133 (-SO3), ν= 1181, 1053 (C-F), ν = 1007 (C-N),
測定装置にはBAS社製Electrochemical Analyzer Model 600Cを使用した。測定は三電極計で行い、作用電極3にはガラス状炭素、参照電極1にはAg/AgCl (3 M NaCl)電極を、対電極2にはガラス状炭素を用いた。測定前に約10分間N2バブリングを行うことで溶存酸素を除去した。
[アンモニア定量方法]
生成したアンモニアの定量はインドフェノール法を用いて行った。インドフェノール法の操作を以下に示す。サンプル液を100倍に希釈した後、10 mlに呈色液A(フェノール5 gおよびNa2[Fe(CN)5(NO)]2H2O 25 mgをミリQ水に加えて500 mlとしたもの)を20 ml加えて軽く混ぜた後、呈色液B(NaOH 2.5 gおよびNaClO 4.2 mlをミリQ水に加えて500 mlとしたもの)を20 ml加えて混ぜた。室温で30分以上静置したあと、その溶液の635 nmでの吸光度を測定した。その吸光度でもってアンモニアの定量を行った。なお、吸光度の測定はJASCO社製紫外吸光分析計V-530またはV-570を用いて行った。
[アンモニア生成実験]
図1に示すアンモニア製造装置を用いて、アンモニアを生成した。このとき、陽イオン交換膜11として、Nafion(登録商標) NR-212を用いた。また、Cp2TiCl25.8 mg (2.2 × 10-5 mol)をP14NTF25.5 g (1.3 × 10-2 mol)に溶かしたイオン性液体溶液(5.4 mM)および、0.1 M LiClO4水溶液を用いて、-2.8 Vで1日間定電位測定を行った。反応後、得られたアンモニア溶液を用いて含有アンモニア量をインドフェノール法によって定量した。その結果、含有アンモニア量は2.1 × 10-4 molであったことから、合計2.1 × 10-6 molのアンモニアが生成したことになる。この結果から、本実施例の電気量の変換効率は0.97 %であり、上述の非特許文献1の電気量の変換効率は0.28%であったことから、アンモニアへの変換効率は飛躍的に向上させることができた。
(比較例1)
メタロセン錯体溶解していないイオン性液体P14NTf2を用いて、上記実施例1と同様にアンモニア生成実験を行った。その結果、含有アンモニア量は1.0 × 10-7 mol程度であったことから、電気量の変換効率は0.1 %程度であった。

Claims (8)
- 1種類以上のメタロセン錯体を溶かしたイオン性液体を用いて、電気化学的に窒素ガスと水から、常温常圧下でアンモニアを合成する方法であって、
水分子を透過せず、水素イオンを透過する材料(11)によって、前記イオン性液体(10)と水(9a)とを隔てた状態で、前記イオン性液体(10)中で窒素ガスバブリングを行いながら、前記イオン性液体(10)と前記水(9a)との間に所定電位を印加することで、電気化学的にアンモニアを得ることを特徴とするアンモニア製造方法。 - 前記イオン性液体(10)は、一般式(I)としてC+A-(C+は陽イオン、A-は陰イオン)で表されるとともに、100℃未満で液体状態の塩であり、
前記C+は一般式(II)、(III)、(IV)、(V)および(VI)から選択されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のアンモニア製造方法。
(式中、R1、R2、R3、およびR4はそれぞれ同一または異なり、水素原子および炭素数1〜30の炭化水素基から選択されるいずれかであり得る。また、炭化水素基の水素原子は任意の数だけ置換されていてもよく、炭化水素は任意の数だけ酸素原子や硫黄原子に置換されていてもよい。加えて、各式中のRのそれぞれが互いに直接結合し、環状構造を有していてもよい。) - 前記A-はCl-、Br-、I-、BF4 -、BF3C2F5 -、PF6 -、NO3 -、CF3CO2 -、CF3SO3 -、(CF3SO2)2N-、(FSO2)2N-、(CN)2N-、(CF3SO2)3C-、(C2F5SO2)2N-、AlCl4 -、およびAl2Cl7 -から選択されることを特徴とする請求項2に記載のアンモニア製造方法。
- 前記メタロセン錯体は、一般式(VII)で表されものであることを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか1つに記載のアンモニア製造方法。
(式中、MはTi(IV)、Zr(IV)、またはHf(IV)の金属イオンであり、X1およびX2は同一または異なり、配位性を有する陰イオンである。) - 前記材料は、陽イオン交換膜(11)であることを特徴とする請求項1ないし4のいずれか1つに記載のアンモニア製造方法。
- 前記陽イオン交換膜(11)は、一般式(VIII)で表されものであることを特徴とする請求項5に記載のアンモニア製造方法。
(式中、x、y、zおよびnは、任意の値である。) - 前記材料(11)により前記イオン性液体(10)と前記水(9a)とを隔てた状態となるように、前記イオン性液体(10)と前記水(9a)とを同一または異なる容器(7、9、14、15、16、17)に収容し、
前記イオン性液体(10)に接するように作用電極(3)を設けるとともに、前記水(9a)に接するように対電極(2)を設け、
前記作用電極(3)と前記対電極(2)との間に所定電位を印加することにより、前記材料(11)で隔てた前記イオン性液体(10)と前記水(9a)との間に所定電位を印加することを特徴とする請求項1ないし6のいずれか1つに記載のアンモニア製造方法。 - 請求項1ないし7のいずれか1つに記載のアンモニア製造方法の実施に用いられ、
水分子を透過せず、水素イオンを透過する材料(11)と、
前記材料(11)により前記イオン性液体(10)と前記水(9a)とを隔てた状態として、前記イオン性液体(10)と前記水(9a)とを収容する同一または異なる容器(7、9、14、15、16、17)と、
前記イオン性液体(10)中に窒素ガスを供給する窒素ガス供給手段(6、8)と、
前記イオン性液体(10)に接する作用電極(3)と、
前記水(9a)に接する対電極(2)とを備え、
前記作用電極(3)と前記対電極(2)との間に所定電位を印加できる構成であることを特徴とするアンモニア製造装置。
