Description
The present invention is a method for producing a band-shaped or plate-shaped metal composite including at least two metal layers, wherein the multiple metal layers are brought to a temperature at least equal to the recrystallization temperature of at least one metal material of the metal layers. The thermal pretreatment and subsequent pressure forming of the metal layers causes a reduction in the thickness of the metal layers, and during this thickness reduction process, multiple metal layers diffuse to each other in the region of the interface. It relates to the manufacturing method to be joined. The present invention also relates to a metal composite (10, 10 ', 10 ", 10"') formed of multiple metal layers that are diffusion bonded together.
The above manufacturing method is known from John B. Ulam's basic U.S. Pat. No. 2,718,690 issued in 1955, which is itself U.S. Pat. No. 1,392,416 issued in 1921 and 1949. (Patent Document 2) and U.S. Pat. No. 2,468,206 (Patent Document 3), each of which can be used for hot working, cold working and deep drawing. During manufacture, the clad material can be manufactured. In more detail, the method includes the steps of combining dissimilar metals to form a monolithic structure, which in turn has no risk of disjoint metal layers that are two dissimilar metals. Are rolled, hammered, forged, drawn, pressed, and deep drawn. Although the method according to U.S. Pat. No. 2,718,690 deals with the production of a clad composite in which stainless steel is coated with copper or a clad composite in which copper is interposed between steel layers, The patent specification states that the composite metal material can instead be one homogeneous metal, namely stainless steel only or copper only. In this known method, no kind of bonding agent is used between the individual metal layers, instead the metal molecular structures are bonded. The individual metal layer is cleaned by machining to remove any oxides, dirt, etc. from the surface of the metal layer. Cleaning, preferably performed by a grinding disk, provides a completely clean surface free of oxides. This is necessary to expose the molecular lattice structure of the metal. The metal layer is then heated to an appropriate temperature and under pressure one of the adjacent surfaces of the metal diffuses into the other.
Inventor-identified U.S. Pat. No. 3,210,840 (Patent Document 4) relates to the production of metal composites prepared from aluminum and stainless steel by rolling joining. The plurality of metal layers cleaned and stacked one above the other are reduced in thickness by 10 to 35% after thermal pretreatment as a result of rolling for the purpose of mutual diffusion bonding. In the thermal pretreatment stage, the metal surface is heated to a temperature above the recrystallization temperature of aluminum, but below the melting point of aluminum and below the recrystallization temperature of stainless steel. Diffusion bonding is achieved by pressing multiple metal layers together during rolling. (The so-called mutual pressure forming described here and in the following description can be performed by forging or simply by pressure forming instead of rolling.) According to the method known from this US patent specification In some cases, the metal layer stacks placed one above the other are first molded in such a way that the individual components of the stack, i.e. the multiple metal layers, are securely held in place before being pressed together. And welded at its end. During the next rolling operation, each metal layer is simultaneously reduced in thickness in the range of 35% or less, resulting in very high compressive forces, and thus the two outer cover metals of stainless steel. The layer also undergoes a thickness reduction in the range of 35% or less. The aluminum layer placed between the outer cover metal layers is also pressed by this very high compressive force. This is probably one of the reasons why in the state-of-the-art in the industry, no consideration is given to providing channels in the aluminum layer. In the state of the art, various alternatives to providing such a channel are presented. For example, German

German Patent Application DE 1 196 045B (Patent Document 8) presents a method for producing aluminum clad with titanium. In this method, a titanium thin plate material or a foil clad thereon is attached to aluminum as a base material to form a laminated body, and this laminated body is then subjected to hot rolling. In such a process, the method is carried out in such a way that the two materials to be joined are brought into contact with each other just before the rolling process, and the rolling pressure is determined by the thickness of the substrate, ie the aluminum or aluminum alloy. Is set to such a pressure that it is reduced by at least 30%. The clad titanium sheet or titanium foil is not heat treated and is rolled at a low temperature onto a high temperature aluminum metal to avoid oxidation of the titanium sheet. A thickness reduction of at least 30% in the rolling process needs to be carried out in order to obtain an effective joint strength. After manufacture, the clad product is heated to a temperature between 480 ° C. and 565 ° C., again in such a manner that the thickness reduction of the substrate, ie the layer of aluminum or aluminum alloy, is not more than 15%, Roll processing. This is designed to further strengthen the bonding strength between aluminum and titanium. Therefore, the overall thickness reduction of the aluminum substrate is at least 45%.
Core metal layers made of one or more aluminum or aluminum alloy layers and clad with stainless steel are now widely used in the manufacture of large hot plates. In this hot plate, it is necessary to maintain a constant temperature to allow the food to be ignited regardless of the amount of the food that is placed on it and baked. In addition, aluminum materials clad with stainless steel are used primarily in situations requiring cooking utensils and light weight and corrosion resistant metals utilized in the aerospace industry.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a method for producing strip or plate metal composites that can significantly expand the range of application. It is also contemplated to provide metal composites with a wide range of applications.
As such, the present invention provides a plate by thermally pretreating a plurality of metal layers at a temperature that is at least the same as the recrystallization temperature of the metal material of at least one metal layer and by subsequent pressure forming of the plurality of metal layers. U.S. Pat. The method disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 3210840 (Patent Document 4) is the starting point.
In this method configuration, in the present invention, aluminum or an aluminum alloy is used as the metal material of each metal layer and the metal material of the plurality of metal layers. A metal layer provided with a band-shaped recess that is closed by an adjacent metal layer at the time of pressure forming is used, and the reduction in the thickness dimension with respect to the total thickness dimension of the plurality of metal layers before pressure forming is 25% or less. In the method according to the invention, an aluminum or aluminum alloy layer is wound like a roll-shaped strip and heated to the corresponding temperature, e.g. adjacent layers in each case cause diffusion bonding to each other as desired. In this manner, they are pressed together in the rolling machine. The thickness reduction in the present invention is only 25% at the maximum, and the rolling force required for this is sufficiently small (the latter is the maximum than the method based on the above-mentioned US Pat. No. 3,210,840 (Patent Document 4)). It is about one-tenth the size). Thus, during mutual pressure forming, the recesses are essentially retained to form channels in the finished metal composite, which can be used in many ways.
In the case of the metal composite of the present invention, each metal layer is composed of a plurality of metal layers diffusion-bonded to each other made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy, and the metal composite has a boundary between two adjacent metal layers. A plurality of band-like channels are arranged on or in the plane so as to be scattered in a plan view. State-of-the-art technology requires that metal composites made of dissimilar metal materials be as dense as possible, taking into account the flexibility of one or more metal materials to be joined during the mutual pressing process. It is said. Surprisingly, the inventor can set the compressive force sufficiently low by using aluminum or an aluminum alloy without using a hard metal such as stainless steel and keeping certain conditions, and mutually. It has been found that the compressive force can be efficiently distributed during the pressure molding of the resin so that it is possible to provide recesses or channels. In the present invention, as the metal material for the plurality of metal layers, either aluminum or an aluminum alloy is used. Therefore, the metal composite according to the present invention is one kind of metal that is either an aluminum simple substance or an aluminum alloy. It is made only from the material and can be used, for example, as a core material for hot plates or as a wall or bottom material for cooking utensils, as was usually the case in the past. Since the individual metal layers are bonded together by molecular bonding at the interface by diffusion bonding, the metal composite functions substantially like a single metal material and has strength, and this metal composite is Preferably, after the pre-treatment annealing, the treatment can be performed as described at the beginning. During the manufacture of the metal composite, a temperature sensor can be inserted into the channel of the metal composite before further processing or even before the metal layers are pressed together. Further, alternatively or in addition, channels can be used for the passage of heating and / or cooling fluid. When a metal composite is processed for the purpose of manufacturing a hot plate or a cooking utensil, the temperature can be controlled using a temperature sensor integrally provided in the metal composite during the processing. Conveniently, with this structure, passive transponders can be used that do not require external wiring connections for numerical reading or power supply. Metal composites with passive temperature sensors are not only used as hot plates, but can be further processed to form high performance devices, such as wireless control, for example.
Preferred embodiments of the invention form the subject matter of the dependent claims.
In one embodiment of the method according to the invention, a metal layer is used as a metal layer having a plurality of recesses, the recesses extending over the entire thickness of the metal layer, and the recesses in the metal layer. If two adjacent metal layers form a through-opening that is closed during the pressing of each other, it is possible to produce a metal composite only by rolling in the manner described above, thereby conveniently The band-shaped metal layer (sheet) is stretched from the roll state.
In another embodiment of the method according to the invention, when a connecting portion is added to the recess or through opening to form a serpentine passage or similar structure, a continuous channel is provided in the metal composite, For example, it can be used as a coil device for heating or cooling. In this embodiment with a serpentine passage or similar structure, it also distributes the pressure better between the metal layers during the mutual pressing, and this way the recesses are more effectively prevented from compression damage than before. Protect.
As another embodiment of the method according to the present invention, the metal cylinders are inserted into the recesses or through openings before the mutual pressure forming, and then are mutually pressure formed to form a plurality of metal layers. When embedded in the metal material of at least one metal layer, the metal composite can be used in more applications and in particular can be adapted to certain special applications. In fact, there are applications where only corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant materials such as stainless steel or usually nickel or titanium alloys can contact the working fluid.
As another embodiment of the method according to the present invention, when a separate member is inserted into the cylinder in the recess or through opening before and after mutual pressure molding, each channel in the metal composite is Not only is it lined to have corrosion resistance and heat resistance, but at the same time, sensors, wiring, etc. are attached in an adaptable manner.
In a further embodiment of the method according to the invention, a temperature sensor, in particular an RFID chip, a piezoelectric chip or similar intelligent chip, or a Peltier element can be inserted as a separate member.
As another embodiment of the method according to the invention, a metal composite according to the invention is provided if a reduction in the thickness of the multiple metal layers of 5 to 25%, preferably 8 to 15%, is achieved by mutual pressing. The body can be manufactured, for example, with less material and lower energy costs. Furthermore, in this manner, the maintenance of the channel dimensions during mutual pressing is more reliable, so that damage to the sensor or the like previously inserted into the channel does not occur.
In another embodiment of the method according to the invention, the multiple metal layer is placed as a core metal layer between two cover metal layers made of another metal such as stainless steel, copper or titanium. During the thermal pretreatment, the entire assembly of these metal layers is heated to a temperature higher than the recrystallization temperature of the metal material of the core metal layer but lower than the recrystallization temperature of the metal material of the other metal layer. The entire assembly of the metal layer is diffusion bonded together with the first reduction in thickness by press forming, and then the entire assembly of the metal layer with the cover metal layer actually bonded to the core metal layer is subjected to the same heating condition. Another mutual pressure forming is performed to cause a second thickness reduction. In this case, the first plate thickness reduction and the second plate thickness reduction are selected to produce a total plate thickness reduction of 25% or less in the core metal layer. Therefore, the metal composite according to the present invention is a strip or plate clad with stainless steel that exhibits an excellent bonding force between aluminum and steel even when a channel is provided in the metal composite. It can be manufactured.
As an example of the metal composite according to the present invention, if the metal composite is heated to a state that can be further processed by a molding process by thermal pretreatment, the function of the core structural element does not change. Various instruments can be manufactured. Care must be taken if the stainless steel solidifies to a significant extent as a result of the treatment. That is, since the annealing temperature of stainless steel is higher than the melting point of aluminum, the solidified state of this stainless steel is irreversible even by the subsequent annealing. Thus, when using stainless steel in the case of the metal composite according to the invention, efforts are first made to keep the metal forming, in particular its cold forming, as low as possible. Additional annealing can also be used to increase diffusion, i.e., allow further penetration of the diffusion region into the material, thereby allowing for greater bond strength to be achieved. . In the present invention, thanks to the formation of the metal material of the metal layer of aluminum or aluminum alloy, a metal composite with particularly good heat conduction properties or a particularly light metal composite is produced as required.
In another embodiment of the metal composite according to the present invention, the channel may extend to at least one of the plurality of metal layers and at least part of the thickness of the metal layer. The recesses in the layer can be created in a chip-free manner, for example by pressing or molding, for example milling.
In another embodiment of the metal composite according to the invention, a recess is defined later on the channel if the channel extends to at least one of the metal layers and at least over the entire thickness of the metal layer. Can be made easily but very accurately by laser cutting, water jet cutting or milling.
As another example of a metal composite according to the present invention, if the channels extend across the thickness of multiple metal layers in parallel with each other or at different heights, the metal composite may be Can be used in different applications. For example, a heating or cooling medium can be passed through channels provided in parallel and / or across the thickness of multiple metal layers at different heights. In addition, separate channels can be drilled at different locations and interconnected or separated as desired.
As another example of a metal composite according to the present invention, when a connecting portion is added to multiple channels to form at least one continuous channel in a serpentine or similar form, the metal composite is also heated / cooled. Can be used in various ways.
As another example of a metal composite according to the present invention, if the channel is lined with a metal cylinder, adaptation of the metal composite to the anticipated problem can be easily achieved, for example, corrosive fluids. A lining with corrosion resistance against the passage of can be provided.
As another example of the metal composite according to the present invention, when a separate member is inserted in the channel or the cylinder, the separate member can be designed as a sensor, a heating wire, or the like. In this way, it is possible to measure the properties of the fluid or manipulate the temperature of the fluid.
As another embodiment of the metal composite according to the present invention, it is particularly effective when the separate member is a temperature sensor, specifically, an RFID chip, a piezoelectric chip or similar intelligent chip, or a Peltier element. It is possible to implement the embodiment in a simple manner.
As another example of the metal composite according to the present invention, a metal layer made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy is disposed between two cover metal layers made of another metal material such as stainless steel, copper, or titanium. This metal composite is optimally adapted to the intended use such as the use for corrosion resistance, the use for heat resistance, the use for food resistance, the use for salt water resistance, etc. can do.
The present invention relates to the production of a band-shaped or plate-shaped metal composite having channels or embedded cylinders with a wide application range. Metals corresponding to known process steps described at the beginning of this specification, such as metal surface cleaning, thermal pretreatment of metal layers, rolling processes that cause mutual diffusion bonding with reduced sheet thickness The detailed description of the implementation process for manufacturing the composite is omitted here. However, in the method of the present invention, it is not only possible to provide a channel in the metal composite based on the present invention, but the channel holds the object inserted therein before the metal layers are pressed together. Note that as small a plate thickness reduction as possible is achieved. In the method according to the present invention, when a plurality of aluminum metal layers are bonded to each other, the surface of each aluminum metal layer is higher than the recrystallization temperature of aluminum but is higher than the melting point of aluminum before the mutual pressure forming. Heated to a low temperature. Finally, the metal composite is annealed and can be further processed after the annealing, and the formation proceeds further during the processing. Here, the state-of-the-art technology explained at the beginning of this specification, specifically, US Pat. No. 3,261,724 (Patent Document 9), US Pat. No. 3,210,840 (Patent Document 4), US Pat. No. 3,350,772 (US Pat. No. 6,096,049), which are directed to a rolling method for cladding aluminum with stainless steel.

In the case of the embodiment according to FIG. 7 relating to the production of the clad
The
As the

FIG. 10 shows an embodiment of the outer cover metal layer 12 'provided with a plurality of narrow grooves on the outer surface. Although this groove can be corrugated, it is not limited to the illustrated wave shape shown in cross section in FIG. 10, but is a wave shape in which the groove extends at the level of the outer surface. The groove can have a depth of up to 5 mm or greater. During pressure forming between the metal layers, they are kept intact and increase the surface area of the metal composite.
