Description
・第1触媒15aにおいて排気の有害三成分であるCO、HC、NOxの浄化率と空燃比との関係、
・触媒下流側における上記三成分のガス濃度及び酸素濃度と空燃比との関係、
・O2センサ17の排気側電極33の表面付近における上記三成分のガス濃度及び酸素濃度と空燃比との関係、
・O2センサ17の起電力出力と空燃比との関係、
をそれぞれ示している。
CO+0.5O2→CO2 …(1)
CH4+2O2→CO2+2H2O …(2)
CO+NO→CO2+0.5N2 …(3)
また、上記(1)〜(3)の化学反応の平衡定数をそれぞれk1,k2,k3とすると、k1,k2>>k3の関係となっている。
E2=E1×(R1/(Rdc+R1))
I=E2/R1
の関係が成立する。
・O2センサ17及び抵抗回路43が共に正常であること、
・サブフィードバック制御の実施中であること、
が含まれる。そして、ステップS11がYESなら、ステップS12に進む。
上記実施形態を例えば次のように変更してもよい。
Claims (8)
- 固体電解質体(32)と該固体電解質体を挟む位置に設けられる一対の電極(33,34)とを用いてなる起電力セル(31)を有し、内燃機関(10)の排気を検出対象として該排気の空燃比に応じた起電力信号を出力するガスセンサ(17)に適用されるガスセンサ制御装置であって、
さらに前記内燃機関の排気部(14)に設けられ、排気中のリーン成分であるNOxとリッチ成分とを浄化する触媒(15a)を備え、前記ガスセンサが、前記触媒の中間部分又は該触媒の下流側に設けられ、該触媒による浄化後の排気を検出対象として空燃比を検出する内燃機関の排気浄化装置に適用されるものであり、
前記触媒は、空燃比と浄化率との関係を示す浄化特性として、前記リッチ成分及び酸素の平衡点となる第1空燃比点(A1)よりもリッチ側に、前記NOxが流出し始める第2空燃比点(A2)を有しており、
前記起電力セルにおける前記一対の電極の一方は起電力出力時に正側となる基準側電極(34)、他方は起電力出力時に負側となる排気側電極(33)であり、
前記起電力セルに接続される電気経路に通電用抵抗(44)が設けられており、
前記起電力セルにて起電力が生じる場合に、その起電力を電源として前記通電用抵抗に電流が流れることで前記ガスセンサの出力特性を変更させることとし、
前記通電用抵抗は、前記触媒における前記第1空燃比点と前記第2空燃比点とのずれに対応する電流量を前記電気経路に流すものであることを特徴とするガスセンサ制御装置。 - 前記起電力セルに0.1〜1.0mAの範囲のいずれかの電流を流すことで前記ガスセンサの出力特性を変更するものであり、前記通電用抵抗の抵抗値を200〜10kΩの範囲内のいずれかの抵抗値とした請求項1に記載のガスセンサ制御装置。
- 前記通電用抵抗は、前記起電力セルの排気側電極付近におけるガス反応の平衡点を前記第2空燃比点又はその付近にシフトさせるのに要する電流量を前記電気経路に流すものである請求項1又は2に記載のガスセンサ制御装置。
- 前記通電用抵抗は、前記起電力セルの排気側電極付近におけるガス反応の平衡点を前記第2空燃比点よりもリッチ側にシフトさせるのに要する電流量を前記電気経路に流すものである請求項3に記載のガスセンサ制御装置。
- 前記基準側電極と前記通電用抵抗との接続を遮断することを可能とする開閉手段(45)を備えている請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載のガスセンサ制御装置。
- 前記起電力セルに接続される電気経路として、互いに並列となる複数の電気経路を備え、
前記複数の電気経路には各々前記通電用抵抗(44a〜44c)が接続されるとともに、そのうち少なくとも1つの電気経路に、前記基準側電極と前記通電用抵抗との接続を遮断することを可能とする開閉手段(45a〜45c)が設けられている請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載のガスセンサ制御装置。 - 前記複数の電気経路に各々設けられる前記通電用抵抗は、それぞれ抵抗値が相違するものである請求項6に記載のガスセンサ制御装置。
- 前記内燃機関の運転状態に基づいて前記開閉手段の開閉の状態を制御する制御手段(41)を備える請求項6又は7に記載のガスセンサ制御装置。
