Description
(b)要すればカルボマーを水の第2次量に溶解して第2キャリアーを形成する工程、
(c)要すれば工程(b)からの第2キャリアーを、澱粉不存在下に、塩基に混合することにより所望のpHに中和して第3キャリアーを形成する工程、
(d)水の第3次量、接着成分、および所望の更なる成分を工程(a)からの第1キャリアー、工程(b)からの第2キャリアーおよび/または所望の工程(c)からの第3キャリアー中に混合し、水性接着組成物を形成する工程、
を包含する、本発明の水性接着剤組成物の製造方法を提供する。
Rは上記の意味を有し、R1はアルキレンオキシ基、好ましくはエチレンオキシドまたはプロピレンオキシド基から選択された1〜50個を表し、
R2はC4〜C35の炭化水素基、好ましくは飽和アルキルだが、要すればフェニル基を有するもの(その場合、R2はオクチルフェノール、ノニルフェノールまたはドデシルフェニル基である。)であり;
R3は水素またはC1〜C4アルキル、好ましくはHまたはCH3を表し、
A1、A2およびA3は独立して水素およびアルキル基、好ましくはC1〜C4アルキル基を表す。
・コルゲート紙/カードに塗布したときに低い粘度を示し、塗布量を減らすことができる。
・接着剤組成物を波状体に塗布すると殆どすぐに粘度の上昇が起こり、接着剤が流れ出ないで優れた接着性を保持する。低い剪断力でより高い粘度が剪断力を取り除いた時点ですぐに回復し、その結果接着剤のカード/ペーパーボードへの侵入が最小限になる。接着剤の侵入が小さくなれば水の侵入も小さくなる。その結果として、侵入した水の蒸発に必要なエネルギーも最小になり、強度が改善されたペーパー/カードボードが得られ、ペーパーボードの保持傾向が減少し、従ってペーパーボードを非常に少ない乾燥時間で次の工程に掛ける。一方、粘度は、十分な水侵入が確保されてペーパー/カードボードのクラックの形成のリスクを最小にする。
従来のステイン−ホール接着剤をSyralSAから得た変性小麦澱粉Mylbond210に基づいて、以下のように製造した。まず澱粉キャリアーを、39℃に加熱した水885Kgと、澱粉70KgおよびNaOH溶液23.5Kgとを29重量%強度(strength)で混合して調製した。この混合物を780秒間撹拌して、澱粉をゲル化してキャリアーを得た。このキャリアーに、第2の水960Kg、第2の澱粉416Kgおよびボラックス(ナトリウムテトラボレートデカハイドレート)4.4Kgを添加した。この混合物を更に720秒間混合した。得られた接着剤Cは乾燥ゲル固形分21重量%、ゲル化点54℃および30℃でのローリーカップ粘度14秒を有した。図1のCに示されるような粘度曲線が得られた。この曲線はスピンドルスピードR(rpm:回転/分)での剪断応力に対するmPa.sまたはcPとして表される粘度を示す。このカーブはスピンドルナンバー4を用いるブルックフィールドRV装置を用いた。
この実施例に使用されるカルボマーはLubrizolから得られたCarbopol941であった。Carbopol941は架橋ポリアクリル酸ポリマーで粉体状体と記載しても良い。ジメチルアセトアミド(DMA)中に溶解されたゲルパーミエーションクロマトグラフィー(GPC)に提出するときは、Carbopol941はポリメチルメタクリレート参考標準で補正した分析システムで21分〜32分の保持窓間に広いピークを示し、それはDMAに対して以下の分子量情報を示すスペクトルを与える:Mn96483、Mw163802、多分散率Mw/Mn1.70、保持時間約26秒でMP114358、Mz263738およびMz+1 379289。
IKAマジックLAB高剪断ミキサー中で、Carbopol941粉末40gを水920gに混合し、29重量%強度のNaOH溶液40gを導入することによりpH6.8にした。
天然コースターチ(220g)を水700gに混合し120分撹拌した。カルボマーゲル80gを導入してさらに120分間混合して、接着剤Aを得た。得られた接着剤組成物Aは乾燥固形分22重量%、ゲル化点58℃および28℃ローリーカップ粘度35秒を有した。粘度曲線を実施例1と同様に決定し、図の曲線Aを示す。24時間後同じサンプルについて粘度曲線を再び測定し、図のB曲線をしめす。
カルボマーゲル調製
IKAマジックLAB高剪断ミキサー中で、Carbopol941粉末40gを水1000gに混合し、29重量%強度のNaOH溶液40gを導入することによりpH6.8にした。
天然コースターチ(220g)を水680gに混合し120分撹拌した。カルボマーゲル100gを導入してさらに120分間混合して、接着剤Dを得た。得られた接着剤組成物Aは乾燥固形分22重量%、ゲル化点58℃および28℃ローリーカップ粘度45秒を有した。粘度曲線を実施例1と同様に決定し、図の曲線Dを示す。24時間後同じサンプルについて粘度曲線を再び測定し、図のE曲線をしめす。
小麦澱粉(実施例1のようにMylbond210)(220g)を水700gに混合し、120分間混合した。実施例2のカルボマーゲル80gを導入して、更に120分間混合して、接着剤Fを得た。得られた接着剤組成物Fは乾燥固形分22重量%、ゲル化点56℃および27度でのローリーカップ粘度30秒を有した。粘度曲線を実施例1と同様に決定し、図の曲線Fを示す。24時間後同じサンプルについて粘度曲線を再び測定し、図のG曲線をしめす。
天然の小麦フラワー(市販のベーカリータイプ)(260g)を水700gに混合し、120分間混合した。実施例2のカルボマーゲル40gを導入して、更に120分間混合して、接着剤Hを得た。得られた接着剤組成物Hは乾燥固形分27重量%、ゲル化点56℃および28度でのローリーカップ粘度34秒を有した。粘度曲線を実施例1と同様に決定し、図の曲線Hを示す。
ケンウッド家庭用キッチンドライブレンダー中で、SyralSAからのMylbond210変性小麦澱粉1000gをCarbopol941 12gおよび粒状炭酸ナトリウム(Na2CO3.10H2O)12gと15分混合して第1のドライブレンドを作成した。
この実施例で使用したカルボマーは3VSigmaから入手したPolygelW301であった。PolygelW301は架橋ポリアクリル酸ポリマーの水中ラテックス分散体で牛乳状液体である。ジメチルアセトアミド(DMA)中に溶解したゲルパーミエーションクロマトグラフィーに掛けたとき、PolygelW301はポリメチルメタクリレート参考標準で補正した分析システムで21分〜32分の保持窓間に広いピークを示し、それはDMAに対して以下の分子量情報を示すスペクトルを与える:Mn121674、Mw171111、多分散率Mw/Mn1.41、保持時間約25.5分でMP132934、Mz244649およびMz+1 337451。
SyralSAからのMylbond210変性小麦澱粉(220g)を水780gに混合した。PolygelW301ラテックス14gを導入し、また29重量%強度のNaOH溶液3gも導入して120分間混合して接着剤Mを得た。得られた接着剤組成物は乾燥固形分22重量%、ゲル化点56℃および26℃でのローリーカップ粘度35秒を有した。粘度曲線を実施例1と同様に測定し、図6に示す。粘度曲線は他のカルボマーベースの接着剤に似ている。
IKAマジックLAB高剪断ミキサー中で、Carbopol941粉末8gおよびCarbobond26373アクリレートエマルション40gを水350gに混合した。混合物のpHは中和されなかった。
カルボマーゲルの調製
IKAマジックLAB高剪断ミキサー中で、Carbopol941粉末20gを水1000gに混合した。混合物のpHは中和されなかった。
ゲルを用いて、以下の全体レシピ(重量部)によりデキストリンベースの接着剤組成物を調製した。
Claims (19)
- 接着剤組成物の総重量に基づいて接着剤成分少なくとも7重量%かつ最大30重量%を含有し、該接着剤成分が少なくとも一つのポリビニルアルコールおよび/または少なくとも一つのデキストリンおよび/または少なくとも一つの澱粉を含有し、さらに接着剤組成物がカルボマーおよび要すればホウ素化合物を含むものであって、該カルボマーが架橋されており、該接着剤組成物が最大pH13を有しかつ、澱粉とホウ素化合物が接着剤組成物に存在するときには組成物中の全ての澱粉の91.0%以上が冷水不溶形態であることを特徴とする水性接着剤組成物。
- 更に、カルボキシメチルセルロース(CMC)またはキサンタンガムを含む請求項1記載の組成物。
- 以下の特徴:
(i)70℃以下のゲル化点
(ii)%ブリックス(Brix)における屈折計の読み15%以下
(iii)フレッシュな接着剤組成物についてスピンドル4を有するブルックフィールドRV装置で150rpmのスピードで測定して25℃ブルックフィールド粘度500〜5000mPa.s、および
(iv)(iii)に従ってスピンドルスピード1rpmで測定した粘度÷スピンドルスピード150rpmで測定した粘度の比率少なくとも5.00
の少なくとも一つを有する請求項1または2のいずれかに記載の組成物。 - 実質上ホウ素またはホウ素含有化合物および/またはNaOHフリーである1〜3いずれかに記載の組成物。
- 更にホウ素含有化合物を含有する請求項1〜4いずれかに記載の組成物。
- ホウ素含有化合物が、ホウ酸、ナトリウムまたはカリウムポリボレートの水和または非水和形態、ホウ酸無水物、ナトリウムおよびカリウムメタボレート、並びにそれらの混合物から成る群から選択される請求項5記載の組成物。
- ホウ素含有化合物が、ナトリウムテトラボレート、ペンタボレートおよびオクタボレート、並びにそれらの混合物から成る群から選択される請求項6記載の組成物。
- ホウ素含有化合物が、ナトリウムテトラボレートデカハイドレート(ボラックス)である請求項6記載の組成物。
- (i)ポリビニルアルコールおよび/または少なくとも一つのデキストリンおよび/または少なくとも一つの澱粉から選択される少なくとも一つの接着成分、(ii)カルボマーおよび(iii)塩基および要すればホウ素化合物を含有し、該カルボマーが架橋されており、澱粉とホウ素化合物が接着剤組成物に存在するときには組成物中の全ての澱粉の91.0%以上が冷水不溶形態であることを特徴とする固体乾燥プレミックス組成物。
- 塩基がナトリウム(ビ)カーボネートである請求項9記載の組成物。
- 更に、接着促進剤、表面張力剤、消泡剤、スケール除去剤、光学透明化剤、防カビ剤、殺菌剤、着色剤、湿潤剤、粘度調整剤、レオロジー変性剤、凍結防止剤、溶剤およびそれらの混合物からなる群から選択される1以上の成分を含む請求項1〜10いずれかに記載の組成物。
- 澱粉の少なくとも一部が澱粉の原料としてのフラワー(flour)を用いて提供される請求項1〜11いずれかに記載の組成物。
- (a)要すれば澱粉の一次量を水の一次量と混合し、熱および/または塩基を加えて第1次澱粉を少なくとも部分的にゲル化して第1キャリアーを形成する工程、
(b)要すればカルボマーを水の第2次量に溶解して第2キャリアーを形成する工程、
(c)要すれば工程(b)からの第2キャリアーを、澱粉不存在下に、塩基に混合することにより所望のpHに中和して第3キャリアーを形成する工程、
(d)水の第3次量、接着成分、および所望の更なる成分を工程(a)からの第1キャリアー、工程(b)からの第2キャリアーおよび/または所望の工程(c)からの第3キャリアー中に混合し、水性接着組成物を形成する工程、
を包含する、請求項1〜8または請求項1〜8に従属する請求項11または12のいずれかに記載の水性接着剤組成物の製造方法。 - 工程(a)、(b)、(c)または(d)に置いて、ホウ素含有化合物、カルボキシメチルセルロース(CMC)、キサンタンガム、接着促進剤、光学透明化剤、表面張力剤、消泡剤、スケール除去剤、防カビ剤、殺菌剤、着色剤、湿潤剤、粘度調整剤、レオロジー変性剤、凍結防止剤、溶剤およびそれらの混合物からなる群から選択される1以上の更なる成分中に混合する請求項13記載の製造方法。
- 更に、水を蒸発して乾燥粉末を形成する工程(e)を含む請求項13または14記載の製造方法。
- 接着成分、カルボマー、要すれば十分な塩基および所望の更なる成分を乾燥混合して所望の固体プレミックス組成物を得る、請求項9または10、或いは請求項9または10に従属する請求項11または12のいずれかに記載の固体乾燥プレミックス組成物の製造方法。
- 澱粉の少なくとも一部が澱粉の原料としてのフラワーを用いて導入される請求項13〜16いずれかに記載の製造方法。
- 更に、工程(d)の水性接着剤組成物または工程(e)の固体プレミックス組成物を用いて、基材と接着結合を形成して基材と接着結合を含む物品を形成することを含む請求項13〜17いずれかに記載の製造方法。
- 物品が、任意にチューブまたは巻き付けチューブの形態である、積層非−コルゲートまたはコルゲート紙またはカードボード、カードボード、コルゲートカードボード;およびカードボードまたはコルゲートカードボードを含む容器または包装容器からなる群から選択される請求項18記載の製造方法。
