Christisに許可された米国特許第4,894,714号は、テレビ送信局からテレテクストページとしてチャネルマップを伝送することについて開示している。テレテクストページは、当該送信機のサービスを受けるテレビジョン受像機におけるチャネルマップ化記憶装置へダウンロードされる。この配列構成にためには、各々の、そして、全てのケーブル、衛星、または、放送サービスが、伝送帯域幅の重要な部分を占有するそれ自身のチャネルマップを送信することが必要である。
チャネルマップ復号器は、複数の論理的ホストを探索してRFスペクトルを走査し続ける。同調器がKCETチャネル29に同調した場合には(図1参照)、チャネルマップ復号器は、追加ホストスケジュールパケットを検出し、現行GCHビットを記録する。この場合、現行GCHビットは、GCH番号28に対して論理「1」に設定される(図示せず)。従って、2番目のチャネルマップペアが確立され得る。
このチャネルマッピングペア情報は、CMSマトリックスの解を求めるために非常に有用である。図13のチャネルマップ選択パケットにおいて、ケーブル会社Bに対するチャネルマップだけが、当該チャネルマップ復号器によって生成されたチャネルマップペアと合致している。GCH番号28をCMSマトリックスからのテレビジョンチャネル28に相互関係付けるチャネルマップペアがGCH番号28をチャネルマップ復号器によって確立されたテレビジョンチャネル29に相互関係付けるチャネルマップペアと全く一致していないので、ケーブル会社Aに対するチャネルマップは拒絶され得る。従って、マイクロコントローラは、ケーブル会社Bを当該視聴者が加入しているテレビジョンサービスとして識別可能であり、そして、当該チャネルマップ識別子2712HEXが付随したチャネルマップのダウンロードを続行することができる。

Claims (8)
- 複数のテレビチャンネルの複数のテレビ局へのマッピングを決定する方法であって、前記方法は、ユーザー機器によって実行され、前記方法は、
複数のテレビチャンネルの複数のテレビ信号を受信することと、
ユーザー入力に応答して地理的領域識別子を識別することであって、前記地理的領域識別子は、前記ユーザー機器の地理的な場所を識別する、ことと、
前記地理的領域識別子に関連付けられた第1のチャンネルマップ情報を格納することと、
前記複数のテレビ信号のそれぞれを走査することにより、第2のチャンネルマップ情報を取得することと、
前記第1のチャンネルマップ情報を前記第2のチャンネルマップ情報と統合することと
を含む、方法。 - 前記地理的領域識別子に基づいてチャンネルマップ識別子を決定することをさらに含み、
前記複数のテレビ信号のそれぞれを走査することにより、前記第2のチャンネルマップ情報を取得することは、前記チャンネルマップ識別子に基づいて、前記複数のテレビ信号のそれぞれを走査することにより、前記第2のチャンネルマップ情報を取得することをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記チャンネルマップ識別子は、複数のサービス提供者のうちの1つのサービス提供者と前記複数のチャンネルの一組との間の一対一対応を識別する一意的な識別子を含む、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記複数のテレビ信号のそれぞれを走査することにより、第2のチャンネルマップ情報を取得することは、
複数のチャンネルマップのうちの1つのチャンネルマップを選択することであって、前記選択されたチャンネルマップは、前記第2のチャンネルマップ情報である、ことと、
前記第1のチャンネルマップ情報を前記選択されたチャンネルマップと統合することと
を含む、請求項2に記載の方法。 - 複数のテレビチャンネルの複数のテレビ局へのマッピングを決定するユーザー機器であって、前記ユーザー機器は、
複数のテレビチャンネルの複数のテレビ信号を受信する手段と、
ユーザー入力に応答して地理的領域識別子を識別する手段であって、前記地理的領域識別子は、前記ユーザー機器の地理的な場所を識別する、手段と、
前記地理的領域識別子に関連付けられた第1のチャンネルマップ情報を格納する手段と、
前記複数のテレビ信号のそれぞれを走査することにより、第2のチャンネルマップ情報を取得する手段と、
前記第1のチャンネルマップ情報を前記第2のチャンネルマップ情報と統合する手段と
を含む、ユーザー機器。 - 前記地理的領域識別子に基づいてチャンネルマップ識別子を決定する手段をさらに含み、
前記複数のテレビ信号のそれぞれを走査することにより、第2のチャンネルマップ情報を取得する手段は、前記チャンネルマップ識別子に基づいて、前記複数のテレビ信号のそれぞれを走査することにより、前記第2のチャンネルマップ情報を取得する手段をさらに含む、請求項5に記載のユーザー機器。 - 前記チャンネルマップ識別子は、複数のサービス提供者のうちの1つのサービス提供者と前記複数のチャンネルの一組との間の一対一対応を識別する一意的な識別子を含む、請求項6に記載のユーザー機器。
- 前記複数のテレビ信号のそれぞれを走査することにより、第2のチャンネルマップ情報を取得する手段は、
複数のチャンネルマップのうちの1つのチャンネルマップを選択する手段であって、前記選択されたチャンネルマップは、前記第2のチャンネルマップ情報である、手段と、
