Description
減光パターン3は、図1に示されるように、導光板1の光出射面110において、溝部101内のLED2の直上部分に設けられている。本実施例に係る減光パターン3は、図12に示されるように、LED2の直上に位置しLED2の中心をカバーする主部分33と、LED2中心からLED2の光出射側に延びる放射状の出射側突起部分31と、更にLED2の背面側(光出射側とは反対側)に延びる放射状の背面側突起部分32とを有している。主部分33は、光の出射方向と直交する方向を長軸とする楕円形状を為しているので、以下では主部分33を楕円部分33と呼ぶこととする。しかしながら、主部分33は楕円ではなく光の出射方向と直交する方向を長軸とする長円形状でもよく、また円形でもよい。また、出射側突起部分31及び背面側突起部分32は、LED2または楕円部分33から離れるに従い徐々に細くなる先細りの形状を有している。
本実施形態の説明においては、導光板に設けた減光パターンや導光パターンの形成方法として、印刷や塗装などによる方法で説明したが、他の方法、たとえばインクジェット方式に依る印刷やフレキソ印刷、熱転写方式印刷、静電吸着方式によるパターン形成(いわゆる電子写真方式)などであっても同様の効果を得ることができることは言うまでもない。
Claims (9)
- 発光素子と、該光源からの光を面状光として出射する光出射面を有する平板状の導光板とを備え、該導光板の光出射面と反対側の面に凹部が形成され、該凹部に、前記発光素子の光軸が前記導光板の光出射面と平行となるように前記発光素子を設けて構成された照明ユニットにおいて、
前記導光板の光出射面の前記発光素子と位置的に対応する部分に減光パターンを設け、更に、前記導光板の光出射面に第1の導光パターンを設け、前記導光板の背面に第2の導光パターンを設け、
前記減光パターンは、前記発光素子を前記導光板の光出射面側においてカバーする主部分と、前記発光素子を中心として、前記発光素子の光出射方向に向かって放射状に延びる第1の突起部分と、前記発光素子の光出射側と反対側の方向に向かって放射状に延びる第2の突起部分と、を含み、かつ前記第1の突起部分が前記第2の突起部分よりも長く、
前記第1の導光パターンは、微小パターンの集合体で構成されており、前記導光板の光出射面であって、前記減光パターンよりも前記発光素子の光出射方向側に設けられ、かつ導光板内部を進行する光を拡散して外部へ出射させ、
前記第2の導光パターンは、微小パターンの集合体で構成されており、前記導光板の背面であって、前記発光素子の光出射方向側に設けられており、かつ導光板内部を進行する光を拡散して外部へ出射させることを特徴とする照明ユニット。 - 請求項1記載の照明ユニットにおいて、前記発光素子は、LEDであることを特徴とする照明ユニット。
- 請求項1記載の照明ユニットにおいて、前記減光パターンは、印刷により形成されることを特徴とする照明ユニット。
- 請求項1記載の照明ユニットにおいて、前記発光素子が前記凹部の長手方向に沿って複数配列されており、前記導光板の光出射面の、前記発光素子の相互間に、第3の導光パターンが形成され、
前記第3の導光パターンは、微小パターンの集合体で構成されており、かつ導光板内部を進行する光を拡散して外部へ出射させることを特徴とする照明ユニット。 - 請求項1記載の照明ユニットにおいて、前記発光素子が前記凹部の長手方向に沿って複数配列されており、前記導光板の背面の、前記発光素子の相互間に、第4の導光パターンが形成され、
前記第4の導光パターンは、微小パターンの集合体で構成されており、かつ導光板内部を進行する光を拡散して外部へ出射させることを特徴とする照明ユニット。 - 請求項1に記載の照明ユニットにおいて、前記導光板の光出射面に設けられた前記減光パターンと前記第1の導光パターンの厚さが互いに異なることを特徴とする照明ユニット。
- 請求項6に記載の照明ユニットにおいて、前記第1の導光パターンは、異なる厚さを持つ複数のドットで構成されることを特徴とする照明ユニット。
- 請求項1に記載の照明ユニットにおいて、前記導光板に設けた導光パターンの印刷範囲が、導光板外形周囲から10mm以上内側に設定されていることを特徴とする照明ユニット。
- 請求項1から請求項8のいずれか1項に記載の照明ユニットをバックライトとして用いたことを特徴とする表示装置。
