Description
本願は、2007年8月28日に出願された、「ペレットおよびマイクロペレットの押出成形制御、ペレット化制御および溶融レオロジー制御を利用して最小せん断成形を向上させるための方法および装置、ならびにペレットおよびマイクロペレットから作られた成形体(METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ENHANCED MINIMAL SHEAR MOLDING UTILIZING EXTRUSIONAL, PELLETIZATION, AND MELT RHEOLOGICAL CONTROL OF PELLETS AND MICROPELLETS AND MOLDED OBJECTS MADE THEREFROM)」と題される米国特許出願連続番号第11/846,372号の利益を主張し、米国特許出願連続番号第11/846,372号は、まるで以下で十分に説明されているかのように、全文が引用によって本明細書に援用されている。
1.発明の分野
本発明は一般に非粉末プロセスに関し、この非粉末プロセスは、ペレット、より特定的にマイクロペレットを押出成形するためのものであり、ペレットの大きさおよび形状を制御し、ペレットの化学的完全性を保持して、望ましくない劣化、時期尚早な酸化、変色、時期尚早な反応、膨張または架橋からペレットができる限り自由であることを確実にするためのものであり、ペレットが、単軸、2軸および多軸最小せん断成形で用いられるほぼ均一な組成物の混合物または調合物からなることをさらに確実にして、従来のプロセスを考慮してプロセス温度、回転比および回転速度の向上を容易にするためのものである。
押出成形、ペレット化、乾燥、運搬、回転成形、および揺動成形のための個々のプロセスならびに機器は、一般に知られており、さまざまな用途で用いられてきた。これとは別に、この技術にかかわる化学現象は知られていた。これらのプロセスおよび機器を起こり得る化学現象に適用すること、ならびに、回転および揺動成形の最小せん断プロセスの向上に広げることは、先行技術の開示からは容易に明らかではなく、本発明の焦点である。
簡単に記載すると、本発明のさまざまな実施の形態は、マイクロペレットを押出成形するため、ならびにマイクロペレットの大きさおよび形状を制御してマイクロペレットの化学的完全性を保持するための非粉末プロセスを提供する。これらの制御可能に作製されたマイクロペレットは、本発明のさまざまな実施の形態に従って、回転または揺動プロセスなどの最小せん断成形で用いられ、プロセス温度および/またはプロセス時間を減少させることによってエネルギコストの大幅な節約を容易にし、1つ以上の回転支持アームの回転比および/または回転速度を大幅に減少させることができるようにすることによって機器上の摩耗および裂けを減少させる。
最小せん断成形は、密閉されたオーブンの中での回転、直火上での回転および/または被覆された金型の中での回転を含み得る。異なるゾーンは異なったように加熱され得て、加熱は、赤外線放射、電気、ガス、油および/または蒸気を含む少なくとも1つの方法を用いて達成され得る。
層は、成分を順次追加することによって形成され得る。
この方法は、成形中の組成物と相性がいい、金属およびセラミックを含む多くの好適な材料からなる金型を利用し得る。
この方法は、成形物の架橋を提供し得る。
