Claims (7)
- ロータ部材に通じ、シール圧力に加圧された圧縮性または非圧縮性の冷却媒体を用いて運転操作可能な流体カップリングデバイスであって、貫通する円筒状のカウンターボアと単一の媒体流入口を有するハウジングと、上記カウンターボア内に外周部が配置されて上記カウンターボア内を軸方向に移動可能で且つ上記媒体流入口に通じている管状キャリア部材とを備える流体カップリングデバイスにおいて、
上記ロータ部材に取り付けられた回転シール部材と、上記キャリア部材に取り付けられた非回転シール部材とを有する主シールアセンブリと、
上記非回転シール部材と当接・係合することにより、上記主シールアセンブリに開く力を与えて、上記回転シール部材と上記非回転シール部材とを互いに離間させる少なくとも一つの開放バネ部材と、
上記管状キャリア部材の周囲に配置されて上記ハウジングと当接・係合することにより、上記管状キャリア部材と上記ハウジング間を密封する補助シール部材との組合せを具備し、
上記主シールアセンブリに上記開く力が加えられている場合に、互いに当接する上記回転シール部材と上記非回転シール部材とのシール端面の軸方向の投影面積(A 1 )(軸方向の閉じた面積)と上記キャリア部材に対して軸方向の稼働力として働く上記圧縮性または非圧縮性の冷却媒体の圧力を受ける軸方向の投影面積(A 2 )(開口面積)とのバランス比(A 2 /A 1 )が、0.67よりも大きい1つのバランス比に設定されていることにより、上記圧縮性の冷却媒体が上記媒体流入口を介して導かれているときに、上記回転シール部材と上記非回転シール部材との間に所定の隙間を形成するように構成されるとともに、上記非圧縮性の冷却媒体が上記媒体流入口を介して導かれているときに、上記回転シール部材を上記非回転シール部材に当接・係合させるように構成されていることを特徴とする流体カップリングデバイス。 - 上記ハウジングは、内周面を有する環状溝を備え、この環状溝は、上記円筒状のカウンターボアの周囲に配置されて、上記管状キャリア部材の外周面を囲むように構成され、
上記補助シール部材は、上記溝内に配置されて、上記環状溝の内周面に当接・係合することにより、上記管状キャリア部材と上記ハウジング間を密封することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の流体カップリングデバイス。 - 上記主シールアセンブリは、上記ロータ部材の一端に取り付けられた回転シール部材を有し、上記非回転シール部材は、上記キャリア部材の一端に取り付けられていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の流体カップリングデバイス。
- 上記補助シール部材は、リップ延出部を有し上記溝内に配置されたU形状のシール部材であり、上記延出部は、上記環状溝の内周面と上記キャリア部材の外周面とにそれぞれ接触して、上記ハウジングと上記キャリア部材との間を密封することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の流体カップリングデバイス。
- 上記補助シール部材は、上記環状溝の内周面と上記キャリア部材の外周面とにそれぞれ接触する状態で上記溝内に配置されて、上記ハウジングと上記キャリア部材との間を密封するOリングであることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の流体カップリングデバイス。
- 上記補助シール部材は、上記ハウジングと上記キャリア部材との間を密封するダイアフラムシール部材であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の流体カップリングデバイス。
- 上記補助シール部材は、上記管状キャリア部材の周囲であって、上記媒体流入口と上記主シールアセンブリとの間に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の流体カップリングデバイス。
