Description
この出願は、2007年12月14日に出願された仮特許出願第61/013,895号に基づいており、参照によりその全体が本明細書に援用される。
本発明の塞栓コイルの塞栓または凝血促進剤としての能力を、豚の血液(酢酸を添加)を用いて試験管内で試験した。図2の左側に示す典型的ならせん状白金ワイヤコイル30と、図2の右側に示す本発明による塞栓コイル32とを使用した。塞栓コイルは、白金マイクロコイルと亜鉛で形成された細長ワイヤで形成されている。試験の結果、同一条件の下、白金ワイヤコイルの血液凝固の速度および量に対して、塞栓コイルは血液凝固の速度および量を著しく増加させることが示された。
Claims (4)
- 人の血管系内の動脈瘤の内部含水液体環境内に配置され、動脈瘤の塞栓を加速する塞栓コイルであって、
遠位端と近位端とを有するマイクロコイルであって、該マイクロコイルの全長に沿って内部空間を画成する複数のらせん状コイルを備え、第1還元電位を有する第1金属材料で形成されるマイクロコイルと、
遠位端と近位端とを有する細長ワイヤであって、該細長ワイヤは前記マイクロコイルの近位端で該マイクロコイルに電気的に接続されており、前記第1金属材料の第1還元電位よりも低い第2還元電位を有する第2金属材料で形成されており、前記第2金属材料は亜鉛および亜鉛合金で構成される群から選択される金属であり、塞栓コイルが動脈瘤の含水液体環境内に配置されたときに、イオンを発生させてマイクロコイルを取り囲む人の血管系内の液体の電解質組成物を変化させ、動脈瘤の塞栓を加速し、結合組織の成長および動脈瘤の治癒を加速する化学反応の連鎖を起こすように構成されたガルバニ電池を前記第1金属材料と前記第2金属材料が形成する、細長ワイヤと、
前記マイクロコイルの遠位端に固定されるとともに前記細長ワイヤの遠位端に固定される、丸い先端と、
前記マイクロコイルの近位端で、該マイクロコイルおよび前記細長ワイヤの両方に固定されるリングと、
を備える塞栓コイル。 - 前記第1金属材料が、白金および白金合金で構成される群から選択される金属であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の塞栓コイル。
- 前記細長ワイヤが前記マイクロコイルの内部空間内に配置され、前記マイクロコイルの遠位端と近位端の間に延在することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の塞栓コイル。
- 前記丸い先端が球形または卵形であることを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれかに記載の塞栓コイル。
