Description
懸濁液pHの測定
懸濁液のpHは、Mettler Toledo Seven Easy pH測定器およびMettler Toledo InLab(登録商標)Expert Pro pH電極を用いて、25℃で測定する。
懸濁液の伝導度は、pendraulik歯付円盤撹拌器を用いてこの懸濁液を1500rpmで撹拌し、続いて直接、対応するMettler Toledo伝導度拡張ユニットおよびMettler Toledo InLab(登録商標)730伝導度プローブを備えたMettler Toledo Seven Multi装置を用い25℃で測定する。
粒子状物質の重量メジアン粒径および粒径質量分布は、沈降法、即ち重量測定場での沈降挙動の分析により求められる。測定は、Sedigraph(商標)5100を用いて行う。
RVT型Brookfield(商標)粘度計に、室温で適切なディスクスピンドル2、3、または4を用い、室温で100rpm(毎分回転数)の回転速度にて1分間撹拌した後、Brookfield粘度を測定する。
固形分体積は、固形物の体積を水性懸濁液の全体積で割ることで求める。
固形分重量は、固形物の重量を水性懸濁液の全重量で割ることで求める。
懸濁液の水相1リットル当たりの添加剤の量を見積もる目的で、懸濁液の全体積から固相の体積(上記の固形分体積の求め方を参照)を差し引くことで水相の体積(リットル)を最初に求める。
この実施例は、ノルウェー産大理石由来の天然の炭酸カルシウムを用いるが、この炭酸カルシウムは、最初に10から300mmの炭酸カルシウム岩石を乾式自己粉砕して42から48μmのd50に相当する粉末度にし、続いて乾式粉砕産物を、1.4リットル縦型ビーズミル(Dynomill)にて5から15重量%の固形分重量で0.6から1mmのケイ酸ジルコニウムビーズを用い水で湿式粉砕し、粒子の95重量%が直径2μm未満、粒子の75重量%が直径1μm未満、粒子の8重量%が直径0.2μm未満であり、d50が0.61μmとなるまでこの粉砕を行うことで得られるものである。粉砕工程中、分散助剤も粉砕助剤も添加しない。
この実施例は、ノルウェー産の天然の炭酸カルシウムを用いるが、この炭酸カルシウムは、最初に10から300mmの炭酸カルシウム岩石を乾式自己粉砕して42から48μmのd50に相当する粉末度にし、続いて乾式粉砕産物を、1.4リットル縦型ビーズミル(Dynomill)にて固形分重量基準で77.5重量%の0.6から1mmのケイ酸ジルコニウムビーズを用い、固形物の等価乾燥重量基準で0.65重量%のナトリウムおよびマグネシウムで中和したポリアクリル酸塩(Mw≒6000g/mol、Mn≒2300g/mol)を加えた水中で湿式粉砕し、粒子の90重量%が直径2μm未満、粒子の65重量%が直径1μm未満、粒子の15重量%が直径0.2μm未満であり、d50が0.8μmとなるまで縦型ビーズミルを循環させることで得られるものである。
この実施例では、炭酸カルシウム懸濁液のpHを、KOH溶液および2((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールそれぞれを用いて、規定のpH値に調節した。
Claims (21)
- 少なくとも1種の炭酸カルシウム含有物質を水性懸濁液の全体積を基準として25から62体積%含有し、pHが8.5から11である水性懸濁液における添加剤としての2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールの使用であって、懸濁液伝導度変化がpH単位あたり100μS/cm以下である、懸濁液pHを少なくとも0.3pH単位上げるための、使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノール添加剤が、水性溶液として、炭酸カルシウム含有物質に添加されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノール添加剤が、2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールに関して90%超の化学純度を有することを特徴とする、請求項1または2に記載の使用。
- 前記懸濁液が、2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールを添加する前に、700から2000μS/cmの伝導度を有することを特徴とする、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールの添加後、懸濁液伝導度の変化が、pH単位あたり70μS/cm以下であることを特徴とする、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールの添加後、懸濁液伝導度の変化が、10%を超えないことを特徴とする、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の使用。

- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールが、前記懸濁液のpHを少なくとも0.4pH単位上げる量で、前記懸濁液に添加されることを特徴とする、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールの添加前の懸濁液pHが8.5から9の場合、前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールが、前記懸濁液のpHを少なくとも1.0pH単位上げる量で前記懸濁液に添加され、前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールの添加前の懸濁液pHが9から10の場合、前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールが、懸濁液のpHを少なくとも0.7pH単位上げる量で前記懸濁液に添加されることを特徴とする、請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールの添加前、前記懸濁液の温度が、5から100℃であることを特徴とする、請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールが、前記懸濁液の水相1リットル当たり、500から15000mgの量で前記懸濁液に添加されることを特徴とする、請求項1から10のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記炭酸カルシウム含有物質が、炭酸カルシウムを、前記炭酸カルシウム含有物質の全重量に対して、少なくとも50重量%の割合で含むことを特徴とする、請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記炭酸カルシウム含有物質の炭酸カルシウムが、沈降炭酸カルシウム(PCC)か、天然重質炭酸カルシウム(NGCC)か、表面反応炭酸カルシウム(SRCC)か、またはこれらの混合物であることを特徴とする、請求項1から12のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記懸濁液が、炭酸カルシウム含有物質を、前記懸濁液の全体積を基準にして45から60体積%含有することを特徴とする、請求項1から13のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールが、前記懸濁液中の前記炭酸カルシウム含有物質を粉砕する段階の前、中、または後に添加されることを特徴とする、請求項1から14のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールが、乾燥形態の前記炭酸カルシウム含有物質に添加され、場合により一緒に乾式粉砕されてから、前記炭酸カルシウム含有物質の前記懸濁液が形成されることを特徴とする、請求項1から15のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールが、前記懸濁液に添加された後、前記懸濁液が、伝導度に基づく調節装置を備えたユニットに導入されることを特徴とする、請求項1から16のいずれか一項に記載の使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールが、前記懸濁液に添加された後、前記懸濁液が、懸濁液伝導度の測定により定めた高さまで容器またはユニットに導入されることを特徴とする、請求項17に記載の使用。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールが、前記懸濁液に添加された後、前記懸濁液が、懸濁液伝導度の関数として調節される懸濁液スループットを有する経路を通過させられることを特徴とする、請求項17に記載の使用。
- 少なくとも1種の炭酸カルシウム含有物質を25から62体積%含有し、pHが8.5から11の範囲にある水性懸濁液のpHを上げる方法であって、懸濁液pHが少なくとも0.3pH単位上がり、同時に、懸濁液伝導度変化がpH単位あたり100μS/cm以下となる量で2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールを前記懸濁液に添加する段階を含むことを特徴とする、方法。
- 前記2−((1−メチルプロピル)アミノ)エタノールが、前記懸濁液中の前記炭酸カルシウム含有物質を粉砕する段階の後に添加されることを特徴とする、請求項15に記載の使用。
