Description
実施の形態1.
図1は、この発明の実施の形態1における液晶表示装置の車内への配置状態の一例を示す概略図である。液晶ディスプレイ1は、車内のダッシュボード2上の中央部分に配置され、液晶ディスプレイ1の前面には、視野角制御パネル3が設けられている。なお、液晶ディスプレイ1は、裏面にバックライトモジュール4(図示せず)も備えている。
また、周辺の明るさを検出するための照度センサ5と、液晶ディスプレイ1からの光がフロントガラス6に映り込む度合を検出するための映り込み量検出センサ7,8も設置されている。
ここで、映り込み量検出センサ7,8による映り込み量検出方法については、例えば、映り込み量検出センサ7,8としてカメラを用いる場合には、そのカメラに、映り込み成分のみを抽出する偏光板を貼りつけ、映り込み成分の光のみを撮像してその光量を検出する。この際、映り込み量検出センサ7は、車両の後部座席天井に取り付けるものとし、車両前方より少し下方を映すようにし、液晶ディスプレイ1からの光がフロントガラス6で反射した光を拾いやすくする。また、この発明では、フロントガラス6の内側最下端にも映り込み量検出センサ8を備え、フロントガラス6の内側面に沿って、フロントガラス6に映り込む光も検出しているが、この他に、バックミラー裏にも備える構成としてもよい。なお、これら映り込み量検出センサは、車両の後部座席天井、フロントガラス下端、バックミラー裏のうちいずれか1箇所にのみに備えるものであっても構わないし、これらのいくつかを組み合わせて使用しても構わない。
まず初めに、照度センサ5により、周辺照度を取得する(ステップST01)。この結果と、予め測定して保持されているバックライト輝度、視野角制限量および正面輝度の対応変換テーブル(図6参照)とに基づいて、必要正面輝度(正面輝度仕様値)と映り込み上限値(仕様値)を算出する(ステップST02,ST03)。
ここで、図5は、バックライト輝度の制御方法を説明する図である。この図に示すように、周辺輝度と正面輝度との関係に基づいて、視野角制限量と、バックライト輝度の制御量を決定することができる。そして、この図5に二点鎖線で示した目標正面輝度(仕様値)になるようなバックライト輝度、視野角制限量および正面輝度の対応変換テーブルを、予め測定して作成しておき、正面輝度仕様値の導出に用いる。
なお、図6に示すテーブルは、バックライト輝度設定値(PWM(Pulse Width Modulation)生成部24でバックライトモジュール4に送る値)と視野角制限量の全組合せにおいて、そのとき正面輝度がいくつになるかを予め測定して作成したものである。このテーブルをマイコン等の制御ユニット20が保持しておけばよい。
なお、ユーザ操作による設定は、視野角制限量を設定するためのボタンやスイッチ等によるものでもよいし、タッチパネル上の入力画面から設定できるものであってもよい。
また、図7(b)は、映り込み量上限値と視野角開放量との関係を示す図である。この図7(b)にしたがって、映り込み量上限値が上がれば(周辺が明るくなれば)、それに合わせて視野角も開放していくように、すなわち、常に映り込み量が仕様上限値になるように視野角開放量を調整する。
そして、ステップST14で生成した視野角制限電圧と、ステップST15で生成したPWM信号とに基づいて、各部品を制御し、バックライトや視野角の調整を行う。
なお、本願発明はその発明の範囲内において、実施の形態の任意の構成要素の変形、もしくは実施の形態の任意の構成要素の省略が可能である。
Claims (4)
- 車両に搭載された、または、車両に持ち込んで使用可能な液晶表示装置において、
視野角制御パネルとバックライトモジュールとを有する液晶ディスプレイと、
前記液晶ディスプレイの周辺照度を検出する照度センサと、
前記液晶ディスプレイからの光が前記車両のフロントガラスに映り込む量を検出する映り込み量検出センサと、
前記液晶ディスプレイの視野角制御パネルとバックライトモジュールとを制御する制御ユニットとを備え、
前記制御ユニットは、
前記照度センサにより取得した周辺照度に基づいて正面輝度仕様値および映り込み量上限値を算出し、
前記映り込み量検出センサにより取得した映り込み量が前記映り込み量上限値以下となり、かつ前記液晶ディスプレイの正面輝度が前記正面輝度仕様値以上となるように、前記視野角制御パネルにおける視野角制限量を決定するとともに、前記バックライトモジュールにおけるバックライト輝度を決定する
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶表示装置は、
前記視野角制限量を設定可能なユーザ設定部をさらに備え、
前記制御ユニットは、前記視野角制御パネルにおける視野角制限量を決定するとともに、前記バックライトモジュールにおけるバックライト輝度を決定する際に、前記映り込み量検出センサにより取得した映り込み量に代えて、前記ユーザ設定部により設定された視野角制限量を用いる
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記制御ユニットは、前記周辺照度と、前記バックライト輝度、前記視野角制限量および前記正面輝度の対応変換テーブルとに基づいて前記正面輝度仕様値および前記映り込み量上限値を算出することを特徴とする請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記制御ユニットは、前記周辺照度の上昇に応じて前記映り込み量上限値が上昇する関係に基づいて、前記映り込み量上限値を算出することを特徴とする請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。
