Description
本発明により、非オートクレーブ型ガラス積層方法は、適切に限定された、低残留ヒドロキシル含有量を有する、可塑化されたポリ(ビニルブチラール)を使用することによって製造される、低水分含有量ポリ(ビニルブチラール)ポリマーシートを使用することにより、より効率化されうることを、驚くべきことに今回発見した。
比較的低い、充分に定められた残留ヒドロキシル含有量を有するポリ(ビニルブチラール)を使用することにより、さらなる調整を殆どまたは全く必要とせずに、再現性のある、比較的低いおよび望ましい水分含有量へと平衡する、非オートクレーブ法において使用するのに適した、ポリ(ビニルブチラール)シートの製造が可能となることを、驚くべきことに発見した。
ここにおいて使用される、多層窓ガラスを積層するための「非オートクレーブ法」は、許容できる積層製品を実現するために、標準的なオートクレーブ条件を使用する必要のない、積層方法である。非オートクレーブ法の中には、真空バッグ(vacuum bag)またはリング(ring)非オートクレーブ法およびニップロール(nip roll)非オートクレーブ法がある。
本発明のポリマーシートは、真空を適用することによって引き起こされる圧力以外の圧力印加を必要としないで多層ガラスパネルを積層する、真空バッグ、非オートクレーブ法において有用である。真空バッグ非オートクレーブ技法を使用するための1つの方法は、米国特許第5536347号(これ以後、‘347特許)において開示されている。本明細書において開示されたものなどの低水分含有量ポリマーシートは、工程の堅牢性を改善することおよび‘347特許において開示されている非オートクレーブ法の操業窓(工程温度)を広げることができる。
本発明のポリマーシートは、かなりの高熱を使用するニップロール法を含む、圧力印加、非オートクレーブ法において特に有用である。
「ポリマーシート」の以下の記述は、本発明の多層パネルにおいて使用される、上記の低ヒドロキシルポリ(ビニルブチラール)シートではない、ポリマーシートに当てはまる。限定された低残留ヒドロキシル含有量を有する上記のポリ(ビニルブチラール)シートに関して、以下の記述は、上記のポリ(ビニルブチラール)シートのヒドロキシル含有量が、上の範囲内で与えられることおよび使用されるポリマーがポリ(ビニルブチラール)であることを除いて、当てはまる。
本明細書において使用される「ポリマーフィルム」は、性能強化層としての機能を果たす、比較的薄い、剛性ポリマー層を意味する。ポリマーフィルムは、ポリマーフィルムがこれ自体で、必要な耐貫通性およびガラス保持特性を多層板ガラス構造体にもたらすことはなく、むしろ、赤外吸収特性などの性能改善をもたらすものであるという点で、本明細書において使用されるポリマーシートとは異なる。ポリ(エチレンテレフタレート)は、ポリマーフィルムとして最も一般的に使用される。
ポリ(ビニルブチラール)シートを、樹脂の2つの組から調製する。第1樹脂は18.7%の残留ポリ(ビニルアルコール)含有量、1〜2%の残留ポリ(酢酸ビニル)含有量および80%のポリ(ビニルブチラール)含有量を有し、第2樹脂は、16.0%の残留ポリ(ビニルアルコール)含有量、1〜2%の残留ポリ(酢酸ビニル)含有量および82〜83%のポリ(ビニルブチラール)含有量を有する。これらの樹脂に対して、100部の樹脂当たり、トリエチレングリコールビス−(2−エチル)ヘキサノエート39部を可塑剤として添加し、0.76mm(0.030インチ)の厚さを有するポリマーシートを押出成形してシートを形成する。それぞれの種類毎に5つのシートを調製し、環境チャンバに設置して、70℃の温度において異なる相対湿度で3時間調整する。得られたシートの平衡水分含有量は、本明細書においてどこか他の場所に記載した技法に従って求める。結果を下表に示す。
Claims (19)
- スタックを形成すること(前記スタックは、ガラスの層およびポリ(ビニルブチラール)を含むポリマーシートを含み、前記ポリマーシートは、25%の相対湿度において平衡に置かれた場合、該ポリマーシートのさらなる調整を必要とすることなく、0.25重量%未満の水分を含み、10.0から18.0重量%の残留ヒドロキシル含有量を有するポリ(ビニルブチラール)樹脂から形成されている。);および
前記スタックを、非オートクレーブ法を用いて積層すること
を含む、多層ガラスパネルを製造する方法。 - 前記樹脂が12.0から18.0重量%の残留ヒドロキシル含有量を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記樹脂が13.0から17.5重量%の残留ヒドロキシル含有量を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーシートが0.15重量%未満の水分を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記スタックが第2ガラス板をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記スタックがポリマーフィルムをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記スタックが第2ポリマーシートをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記非オートクレーブ法が圧力印加非オートクレーブ法である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記非オートクレーブ法がニップロール非オートクレーブ法である、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記ニップロール非オートクレーブ法が、3気圧以下の圧力下で前記多層ガラスパネルを処理することを含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記ニップロール非オートクレーブ法が、115℃から230℃の処理温度において形成前積層板を作成することを含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記ニップロール非オートクレーブ法が、100秒未満の間ニップロールを使用することを含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記ニップロール非オートクレーブ法が、ローラーのリニアメートル当たり35720キログラム未満(リニアインチ当たり2,000ポンド未満)でニップロールを使用することを含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記ニップロール非オートクレーブ法が真空状態の使用を必要としない、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記非オートクレーブ法が真空バッグ法である、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記非オートクレーブ法が真空チャンバ法である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記非オートクレーブ法が真空バッグ法である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記真空バッグ法が、真空加熱を提供して前記多層ガラスパネルを密封するステップを含む、請求項17に記載の方法。
- スタックを形成すること(前記スタックは、ガラスの第1層、ガラスの第2層、ならびに前記ガラスの第1層および前記ガラスの第2層の間に配設された1つ以上のポリマー層を含み、前記1つ以上のポリマー層はポリ(ビニルブチラール)を含むポリマーシートを含み、前記ポリマーシートは25%の相対湿度において平衡に置かれた場合、該ポリマー層のさらなる調整を必要とすることなく、0.25重量%未満の水分を含み、10.0から18.0重量%の残留ヒドロキシル含有量を含むポリ(ビニルブチラール)樹脂から形成されている。);および
前記スタックを、非オートクレーブニップロール法を用いて積層すること
を含む、多層ガラスパネルを製造する方法。
