を有する方法であり、
制御信号の第2集合は、第1電圧がリセット電極に粒子を引き付けるためのものであり、第2電圧は出力電極にリセット電極から粒子を引き寄せるためのものである、第1電圧と第2電圧との間で発振するパルス波形を有し、そのパスル波形の第1電圧及び第2電圧のデューティサイクル及び大きさは、アドレスフェーズにおいて出力電極に移送される粒子の割合を決定する、
方法を提供する。
Claims (5)
- 粒子を含む要素を有する電子装置を駆動する方法であって、
前記粒子は、該粒子の量によって定められる要素の光学状態を制御するように移動され、
前記要素は、コレクタ電極と出力電極との間に設けられたゲート電極を有し、
当該方法は:
リセット段階において、制御電圧の第1集合を、前記ゲート電極、前記コレクタ電極、及び前記出力電極へ印加することで、前記コレクタ電極の方に前記粒子を移動させるように前記電子装置を制御するステップ;並びに
アドレッシング段階において、制御信号の第2集合を、前記ゲート電極、前記コレクタ電極、及び前記出力電極へ印加することで、好ましい数の粒子が前記出力電極に存在するように、前記コレクタ電極から前記粒子を移動させて前記電子装置を制御するステップ;
を有し、
前記の制御電圧の第2集合は、前記出力電極と前記コレクタ電極との間に印加されて、前記コレクタ電極に前記粒子を引き寄せるための第1電圧と、前記コレクタ電極から前記出力電極の方に前記粒子を引き寄せるための第2電圧との間で振動するパルス波形を有し、
前記パルス波形の前記第1電圧及び前記第2電圧のデューティサイクル並びに大きさは、前記アドレッシング段階における前記出力電極の方に移動される粒子の割合を決定し、
前記パルス波形の前記第1電圧が印加されるとき、前記ゲート電極は、既に前記出力電極に存在する粒子が前記出力電極に留まるようにして、前記出力電極から前記コレクタ電極への粒子の移動を妨げる、
方法。 - 請求項1に記載の方法であって、前記パルス波形の前記第2電圧が印加されるとき、前記ゲート電極は、前記コレクタ電極から前記出力電極への粒子の移動を可能にする、方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法であって、
前記電子装置が2つ以上の要素を含み、
前記の制御電圧の第2集合は、前記コレクタ電極から前記出力電極への前記の粒子の移動を前記要素に制御させることを可能にする第1ゲート電圧と、前記コレクタ電極から前記出力電極の方への前記の粒子の移動を前記要素に止めさせることを可能にする第2ゲート電圧とを有する、方法。 - 請求項3に記載の方法であって、前記アドレッシング段階は、前記要素の行毎のアドレッシングを有し、アドレスされる行について、前記第1ゲート電圧が印加され、アドレスされない行について、前記第2ゲート電圧が印加される、方法。
- 請求項1乃至4の何れか一項に記載の方法であって、前記出力電極は出力領域によって分離される2つの画素電極のうちの一であり、
該方法は変化段階を更に有し、
前記変化段階では、前記制御電圧の第3集合が、前記ゲート電極、前記コレクタ電極、及び前記2つの画素電極に印加されることで、前記出力電極で収集された粒子が前記出力領域にわたって広がる、
方法。
