言い換えれば、図3のグラフに図表化されたレール応力は、レール応力(RT)とは、レール設定温度(RNT)からの周囲レール温度(RT)の隔たりの温度数値である、ということになる。この一次関係は、参照番号350で図示される。参照番号360で図示される水平関数が、レールの非拘束部分の応力を表す。レール部分の非拘束状態により、周囲レール温度に関わらず、レール応力はゼロである。言い換えれば、非拘束レールのRNTは、周囲レール温度と常に等しい。

Claims (8)
- レールの応力を検出するためのシステムであって、
(a)検出器モジュールであって、
可撓性を有する平坦なシムを備え、ある長さのレール上に直接設置可能な少なくとも1つの検出デバイスであって、
前記シム上に相互に離間して対向して設置された第1及び第2の応力検出器であって、各応力検出器が相互に直角に設定された第1及び第2の応力検出素子を有し、第1の応力検出器の第1及び第2の応力検出素子並びに第2の応力検出器の第1及び第2の応力検出素子がホイートストンブリッジを形成している、第1及び第2の応力検出器と、
前記第1及び第2の応力検出器の間の前記シム上に、前記第1の応力検出器に近接して配置された第1の複数のはんだパッドと、
前記第1及び第2の応力検出器の間の前記シム上に、前記第2の応力検出器に近接して配置された第2の複数のはんだパッドと、
前記第1及び第2の複数のはんだパッドの間であって、前記検出デバイスの中心位置に配置された複数のリード線取付パッドと、
前記複数のリード線取付パッドに前記第1及び第2のはんだパッドを接続するための複数の検出器線と、
前記複数のリード線取付パッドに接続された少なくとも1つのリード線と
を備えている少なくとも1つの検出器デバイスと、
前記少なくとも1つの検出デバイスと通信する少なくとも1つのデータ取得モジュールと
を備える検出器モジュールと、
(b)レール応力を測定するために、前記少なくとも1つのデータ取得モジュールにより収集された情報を受信し処理するデータ処理モジュールと、
(c)該データ処理モジュールへ情報を伝送するための前記少なくとも1つのデータ取得モジュールと通信する伝送手段と
を備える、システム。 - 前記検出器モジュールは、前記少なくとも1つの検出デバイスおよび前記少なくとも1つのデータ取得モジュールを密閉するための保護ハウジングをさらに備える、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記検出器モジュールは、内蔵型の電源をさらに備える、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記少なくとも1つの検出デバイスは保護カバーをさらに備え、前記保護カバーは、前記少なくとも1つの検出器を取り囲む表面上に配設される、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記シムは、長さが約2.54cm(1インチ)、幅が約1.27cm(0.5インチ)であり、金属箔をさらに含む、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記検出器モジュールはさらに、温度検出器を含む、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記データ処理モジュールは、手持ち式の読取り器および手持ち式のデータ処理装置をさらに備える、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記手持ち式の読取り器および前記手持ち式のデータ処理装置は、単一の手持ち式ユニット内に組み込まれる、請求項7に記載のシステム。
