Description
図11A及び図11Bは、本明細書及び本明細書に参考文献として含まれている公開された特許出願及び発行された特許において説明されているサブピクセルレンダリング動作を行う表示装置及びシステムの実施形態の機能的構成要素を示す。図11Aは、厚い線と矢印で示される表示システム1400を通過するデータの流れを有する表示システム1400を示す。表示システム1400は、入力ガンマ動作1402、色域マッピングGMA動作1404、ラインバッファ1406、SPR動作1408、及び出力ガンマ動作1410を含む。
図1は、図11A及び図11Bにおいて説明されたレンダリングモードを全て含み、表示装置の使用者が所望のレンダリングモードを選択できる図12のSPRモジュール1408の一実施形態100を示すブロック図である。各レンダリングモードは、表示パネル(図12の1570)に同じ入力画像に対して視覚的に知覚できる異なる効果を生成する。前記説明された選択可能な鮮明化モードの実施形態100において、表示システム1570は、図12に示されたようなサブピクセル反復グループ9を実質的に含み、便宜のために下記のように再び表現される。

国際特許出願公開WO2006/127555で開示されているように、輝度鮮明化(MLSモード)と共に行われるメタメリックフィルタリング動作は、鮮明で、使用者から見て美しく見える図4のパネル400のような表示パネル上に、典型的に天然画像及び合成画像の両方を生成する。前記サブピクセルレンダリング動作の内、画像の縁にある青色サブピクセルの処理方法を若干変更することによって、発生する色バランスエラーを訂正すると同時に、MLSモードにおいてのサブピクセルレンダリングの利点は維持することができる。この調節は、専らMLSモードで動作する表示パネルまたは、図1のように構成された表示パネルのような選択可能な鮮明化モードで動作する表示パネルに適用されてもよい。
白色部分に色バランスエラーを認識することがない。
Claims (3)
- タイル状に配置され、少なくとも2つの主要色サブピクセルの少なくとも2つの行及び少なくとも2つの列を含む複数個のサブピクセル反復グループを含み、前記サブピクセル反復グループ内での前記主要色の配置は、赤色、緑色、青色及び白色の4つの主要色を含むRGBW表示パネルと、
RGBのデータフォーマットからなるデータを前記RGBW表示パネルに表示するための色域マッピングする色域マッピング部と、
SPRモジュールと、
を含み、
前記SPRモジュールは、
前記色域マッピング部から出力されたデータの3×3データをサンプリングするSCSデータサンプリングユニットと、
前記色域マッピング部から出力されたデータの3×3データをサンプリングするMLSデータサンプリングユニットと、
前記色域マッピング部から出力されたデータをレンダリングするために適用するフィルタとしてSCSフィルタまたはMLSフィルタのいずれかをモード生成器からの信号に基づいて選択するフィルタマルチプレクサと、
前記色域マッピング部から出力されたデータが前記RGBW表示パネルの最後列内のサブピクセルのデータまたは第2列内サブピクセルのデータである場合にパルス信号を出力する列検出器と、
前記列検出器から第2列内にあるサブピクセルのデータが処理されていることを検出したことを示す信号が入力されると第1列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値と前記第2列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値とを比較し、前記第1列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値が前記第2列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値よりも小さい場合にはSCSフィルタを選択するよう制御する信号を前記フィルタマルチプレクサに出力し、前記第1列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値が前記第2列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値よりも大きい場合にはMLSフィルタを選択するよう制御する信号を前記フィルタマルチプレクサに出力し、
前記列検出器から最後列内にあるサブピクセルのデータが処理されていることを検出したことを示す信号が入力されると前記最後列の前列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値と前記最後列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値とを比較し、前記最後列の前記前列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値が前記最後列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値よりも小さい場合にはSCSフィルタを選択するよう制御する信号を前記フィルタマルチプレクサに出力し、前記最後列の前記前列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値が前記最後列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値よりも大きい場合にはMLSフィルタを選択するよう制御する前記信号を前記フィルタマルチプレクサに出力する前記モード生成器とを含むことを特徴とする表示システム。 - 前記MLSフィルタは、前記表示パネルの縁に色彩エイリアシングが可能であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示システム。
- RGBW表示のための画像データのサブピクセルレンダリングを採用する表示システムにおいて表示される画像の縁の色彩エイリアシングを防止する方法であって、
RGBのデータフォーマットからなるデータを前記RGBW表示のために色域マッピングし、
色域マッピングされたデータがRGBW表示パネルの最後列内のサブピクセルのデータまたは第2列内サブピクセルのデータであるかを判定し、
前記判定の結果、前記色域マッピングされたデータが前記RGBW表示パネルの前記第2列内にあるサブピクセルのデータである場合、第1列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値と前記第2列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値とを比較し、前記第1列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値が前記第2列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値よりも小さい場合にはSCSフィルタを選択し、前記第1列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値が前記第2列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値よりも大きい場合にはMLSフィルタを選択し、
前記判定の結果、前記色域マッピングされたデータが前記RGBW表示パネルの前記最後列内のサブピクセルのデータである場合、前記最後列の前列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値と前記最後列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値とを比較し、前記最後列の前記前列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値が前記最後列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値よりも小さい場合にはSCSフィルタを選択し、前記最後列の前記前列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値が前記最後列内のサブピクセルのデータの青色値よりも大きい場合にはMLSフィルタを選択すること、
を含むことを特徴とする色彩エイリアシング防止方法。
