発光要素は、消費者製品、着用可能なアクセサリ、目新しいものなどのシステムを照射(illuminate)するために使用されることがある。しかしながら、既存の照射システムでは、一般に、1または2以上の光源を用いて、固定された照射光を作り出すことを可能にするだけである。例えば、既存の着用可能なアクセサリは、単一の白色電球を照射源として利用し、白色光が透明な着色された物質を通して発光する。このようなアクセサリは、単一のタイプの照射光(透明な物質の発色作用)、あるいはせいぜい電球の出力の強度を変化させることによって、いくらかの制御可能な輝度の範囲を伴う単一色の照射光を作り出すだけである。その他の既存のシステムにおいては、異なる有色電球の組み合わせを利用してもよく、より広い範囲の有色の照射光を提供する。しかしながら、このようなアクセサリは、それでも少数の異なる有色状態、例えば、3つの個別の色の照射光、赤(照射される赤色電球)、青(照射される青色電球)および紫(照射される赤色および青色両方の電球)に限定されたままである。色を混合して、より広い範囲の異なる色調を提供する能力は、現在存在しない。
発光ダイオード(LED)に基づく、照射製品および方法の多種の例示的な実施が開示されており、これらに限定されないが、グロースティック、キーチェーン、玩具、ボール、多種のゲームアクセサリ、電球、ナイトライト、ウォールライト、ウォールソケット、モジュラライト、フレキシブルライト、自動ライト、着用可能なアクセサリ、ライトロープ、アイシクルライトおよびアイシクルストリングなどの装飾用ライト、ライトチューブ、虫を制御するライトおよび方法、および照射される空気洗浄器/芳香器が含まれる。
説明のためのある態様が説明される。しかしながら、ここで説明される方法およびシステムは、プログラム可能な発光が望まれる他の環境に対してよく適応し、ここで説明される態様のいくつかは、LEDに基づかない光に対しても適し得ることが、当業者によって理解されよう。

Claims (12)
- 照射される壁パネル装置であって、
実質的に平坦な部材と、
前記実質的に平坦な部材が壁に取り付けられる場合に、実質的に平坦な部材の裏側に隣接して配置されるように適応する、LEDに基づく光源であって、実質的に平坦な部材を見る観察者によって知覚される光を生成するために構成される、前記LEDに基づく光源を含み、
LEDに基づく光源が、少なくとも第1の波長を有する第1の放射および第2の波長を有する第2の放射を放出するように適応し、
実質的に平坦な部材が、それに取り付けられる少なくとも1つのスイッチを含み、LEDに基づく光源が、少なくとも1つのスイッチを照射するように配置され、少なくともいくつかの光が少なくとも1つのスイッチを介して、観察者に知覚される、壁パネル装置。 - 照射される壁パネル装置であって、
実質的に平坦な部材と、
前記実質的に平坦な部材が壁に取り付けられる場合に、実質的に平坦な部材の裏側に隣接して配置されるように適応する、LEDに基づく光源であって、実質的に平坦な部材を見る観察者によって知覚される光を生成するために構成される、前記LEDに基づく光源を含み、
LEDに基づく光源が、少なくとも第1の波長を有する第1の放射および第2の波長を有する第2の放射を放出するように適応し、
実質的に平坦な部材が、それに取り付けられる少なくとも1つのソケットを含み、LEDに基づく光源が、少なくとも1つのソケットを照射するように配置され、少なくともいくつかの光が少なくとも1つのソケットを介して、観察者に知覚される、壁パネル装置。 - LEDに基づく光源が、少なくとも第1の放射の第1の強度および第2の放射の第2の強度を独立して制御するための制御器を含む、請求項1又は2に記載の装置。
- 制御器が、少なくとも第1の放射の第1の強度および第2の放射の第2の強度を独立して制御するように構成され、観察者によって知覚される光の全体の色を変化させる、請求項3に記載の装置。
- 制御器が、少なくとも第1の放射の第1の強度および第2の放射の第2の強度を独立して制御するように構成され、観察によって知覚される光の全体の輝度を変化させる、請求項3に記載の装置。
- 実質的に平坦な部材が、壁に対して、実質的に接して取り付けられる、請求項1ないし5のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 実質的に平坦な部材が、壁の一部を形成するためのパネルとして適応する、請求項1ないし6のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 実質的に平坦な部材が、LEDに基づく光源から生成される光の少なくともいくつかを反射するおよび/または導くように成形された部分を含む、請求項1ないし7のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 実質的に平坦な部材が、LEDに基づく光源から生成される光の少なくともいくつかを光学的に変化させるように成形される、請求項1ないし8のいずれかに記載の装置。
- LEDに基づく光源から生成される光の少なくともいくつかを導くために、少なくとも1つの光ファイバをさらに含む、請求項1ないし9のいずれかに記載の装置。
