Description
The present invention relates to a heat exchanger excellent in heat dissipation efficiency, and more particularly to a heat exchanger composed of a base plate and heat dissipating fins that reduces the flow of cooling air flowing between the heat dissipating fins to enhance heat exchange with the fins.
There is a need for a high-performance heat exchanger with excellent heat dissipation efficiency due to an increase in heat generation amount and heat generation density of CPUs and elements. Conventionally, a heat exchanger using an extruded aluminum material, which is inexpensive to manufacture, has been used. The heat exchanger made of extruded material is easy to manufacture because the base plate and the heat radiating fins are integrally formed. Moreover, a base plate and a radiation fin are manufactured separately, and a heat exchanger is manufactured by joining the radiation fin to one surface of the base plate.
FIG. 6 is a perspective view showing a conventional heat exchanger. As shown in FIG. 6, a
In the
In a heat exchanger in which a plurality of plate-like radiating fins are thermally connected to one surface of the base plate described above, the amount of cooling air to be supplied is generally determined for each device. If the length of the plate-shaped heat radiation fins is long and the interval between the plate-shaped heat radiation fins is small, a state in which cold air is applied to the front fin but cold air is not applied to the fins in the back. On the other hand, if a large amount of cooling air flow is blown onto the fins at a high speed with a large space between the plate-shaped heat radiation fins in anticipation of cooling efficiency, sufficient heat exchange is achieved simply by passing air through the center between the fins. A state of not being broken occurs. Therefore, the conventional method of cooling a heat exchanger has a problem in that it cannot effectively cool the heat of a plurality of heat generating components arranged in the vertical depth, particularly the heat of a heat generating component in the lee.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a heat exchanger excellent in heat dissipation efficiency capable of efficiently cooling a plurality of heat generating components arranged over a vertical depth.
The inventor has conducted extensive research to solve the above-described conventional problems. As a result, the flow velocity of the cooling air flowing between the plate fins is reduced, and the temperature boundary layer (i.e., when the air flow passes between the fins, the heat of the fins is transmitted and the temperature of a part of the air flow is reduced. The temperature of the surface fin surface of the heat exchanger plate is created by overlapping the boundary between the air flow and the part of the air flow that is not affected by the heat of the fins. It has been found that the temperature at the outlet side of the fin can be brought close to.
In other words, even if a cooling air flow as fast as possible is blown between the plate fins, a significant portion of the cooling air flow simply passes between the plate fins regardless of heat exchange, so as to increase the heat radiation efficiency. Therefore, it has been found that it is necessary to appropriately regulate the relationship between the interval between the plate fins, the length of the plate fins, and the flow velocity of the cooling air flowing between the plate fins. The present invention has been made based on the research results described above.

According to the present invention, it is possible to obtain a heat exchanger excellent in heat dissipation efficiency in which cooling capacity is high with the same envelope volume and there is almost no temperature difference in the windward and leeward direction, that is, cold air enters even leeward. In particular, in the case of a heat exchanger having a long base plate on which fins are arranged, a heat exchanger having a remarkably excellent heat dissipation efficiency can be obtained.

With reference to FIG. 4 and FIG. 5, the heat dissipation characteristics of the heat exchanger of the present invention and the conventional heat exchanger will be described in comparison.
FIG. 4 is a partial cross-sectional view illustrating the heat dissipation characteristics of the heat exchanger of the present invention. FIG. 5 is a partial cross-sectional view illustrating the heat dissipation characteristics of a conventional heat exchanger. 4 and 5, the temperature boundary layer formed by the cooling air flow passing between the plate-like fins (that is, the heat of the fin is transmitted as the air flow passes between the fins). As a result, the temperature of a part of the air flow rises and a boundary is formed between the part of the air flow that is not affected by the heat of the fins (the boundary layer at this time is called the temperature boundary layer). The relationship between the fin interval and the temperature distribution is shown on the right side of FIGS.
In the conventional heat exchanger shown in FIG. 5, the space | interval between the plate-shaped
As shown on the right side of FIG. 5, the temperature is high on the surface of the plate-like fins, and the temperature does not rise at all in the central part between the plate-like fins. That is, the temperature difference is very large. Therefore, it is clear that even if the cooling air flow is blown at a high speed, the surface temperature of the fin does not decrease, and the heat radiation efficiency is extremely poor.
In the heat exchanger of the present invention shown in FIG. 4, the flow of cooling air is not blown onto the fins at high speed, but the flow rate of the cooling air flowing between the plate-
That is, as shown on the right side of FIG. 4, the temperature of the surface of the plate fins decreases, and an increase in temperature is also observed at the center between the plate fins. That is, it is clear that the difference between the temperature of the surface of the plate-like fin and the temperature of the central portion between the fins is small, and therefore the temperature of the surface of the fin is lowered and the heat radiation efficiency is excellent.
The heat exchanger having excellent heat dissipation efficiency described with reference to FIG. 4 needs to properly regulate the relationship between the distance between the plate fins, the length of the plate fins, and the flow velocity of the cooling air flowing between the plate fins. It is.
d=2√(22*10−6)(L/v)=9.4*10−3√(L/v)
As shown in FIG. 4, from the condition for the temperature boundary layers to overlap (that is, to make the temperature boundary layer sufficiently thick), the distance between the plate fins is d (mm), and the length of the plate fins is L ( m) When the flow velocity of the cooling air flowing between the plate fins is v (m / s),
d = 2√ (22 * 10 −6 ) (L / v) = 9.4 * 10−3√ (L / v)
Thus, the fin interval d = 9.4√ (L / v).
In the present invention, d ≦ 9.4√ (L / v) × 3. More preferably, d ≦ 9.4√ (L / v) × 2. More preferably, d ≦ 9.4√ (L / v). The essence of the present invention is to appropriately regulate the fin shape and the wind speed. For the sake of simplicity, description has been made using flat fins having a flat fin surface, but the effects of the present invention are not limited to flat fins. Clearly, lattice-type fins, knurled fins (fins with surface irregularities), pin fins, fins with swells in the windward direction, and the like also have the same effect.
T(x,t)=T0*erfc(z), z=y/2/√(a'x/v)
T(x,t)=T0*(erfc(z)+erfc(z')), z'=(d-y)/2/√(a'x/v)
The U-shaped curve shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 will be described in detail below.
If the length from the fin entrance is x, the distance from the fin surface is y, and the air temperature is T (x, t), the fin temperature is T0, the main flow velocity is v, and the thermal diffusivity is a '. And the fin temperature
T (x, t) = T0 * erfc (z), z = y / 2 / √ (a'x / v)
Can be expressed as Note that z represents a substantial distance from the fin.
Furthermore, considering the influence from the adjacent fins, let d be the fin spacing.
T (x, t) = T0 * (erfc (z) + erfc (z ')), z' = (d-y) / 2 / √ (a'x / v)
Thus, the U-shaped curve shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 is obtained.
As described above, since the substantial distance z from the fin may be considered as z = y / 2 / √ (a′x / v), this value can be designed as a parameter.
The ratio of the average fin temperature to the exhaust temperature is 2.65 times when z = 3, 1.79 times when z = 2, and 1.12 times when z = 1.
Preferably, z <3, more preferably if z <2, and most preferably if z <1.
As typical values, the fin interval is 0.5 mm to 1 mm, the fin thickness is 1 mm to 2 mm, and the fin thickness is selected to be about twice the fin interval.
Further, a fin length of about 3 to 20 mm is often used. This is only an example, and does not limit the range in which the present invention is effective.

Also in the heat exchanger of this aspect, as described with reference to FIG. 4, the relationship between the plate fin interval, the plate fin length, and the flow velocity of the cooling air flowing between the plate fins is regulated. Excellent heat dissipation efficiency. That is, as described above, when the interval between the plate fins is d (mm), the length of the plate fins is L (m), and the flow velocity of the cooling air flowing between the plate fins is v (m / s), d ≦ 9.4√ (L / v) × 3. More preferably, d ≦ 9.4√ (L / v) × 2. More preferably, d ≦ 9.4√ (L / v).

By using the heat exchanger of the aspect shown in FIG. 3, it is possible to efficiently dissipate heat not only from a plurality of heat generating components along the longitudinal direction of the base plate but also from a plurality of heat generating components arranged in the width direction. It is suitable for cooling and heat dissipation of various heat generating parts, and its application range is expanded.
Fig.7 (a) is a fragmentary perspective view explaining the other aspect of the heat exchanger of this invention. FIG. 7B is a plan view. In this embodiment, the
That is, as shown in FIG. 7, by providing a baffle plate at the top of the fin, the fin height can be set lower than the air intake port in the embodiment shown in FIG. More preferred.
For the purpose of promoting heat transfer, a rod-shaped member may be installed near the fin, one or more slits may be inserted in the fin, and the flow path may be crank-shaped (two L-shaped). It is effective.

Typical dimensions are fin spacing 0.5 mm, fin thickness 1 to 3 mm,

Moreover, the heat exchanger mentioned above can be used as a separate component from the pan and in contact only during use.
The heat exchanger of the present invention can be applied to either natural air cooling or water cooling.
That is, with natural air cooling, the amount of heat exchanged could be improved by 10%. In the water-cooled heat exchanger, the heat transfer coefficient could be improved by 25%.
Typical dimensions are fin spacing 2 mm, fin thickness 1 to 3 mm,
According to the present invention, the temperature of the heat-generating component can be lowered and the pressure loss of the fluid can be lowered under a predetermined envelope volume and a predetermined air volume. That is, it is possible to obtain a heat exchanger that has the same envelope volume and has a high cooling capacity, and that has almost no temperature difference in the windward and leeward direction, that is, excellent heat dissipation efficiency in which cold air enters even leeward. In particular, in the case of a heat exchanger having a long base plate on which fins are arranged, a heat exchanger having a remarkably excellent heat dissipation efficiency can be obtained.
