Description
The present invention relates to a vacuum film forming apparatus for forming a sublimation material on a synthetic resin film. In particular, the sublimation material is stably sublimated by heating the sublimation material preliminarily and uniformly using a microwave generating means.
In recent years, the use of transparent films made of synthetic resins for food packaging applications has been gradually increasing. This transparent film is mainly made of a flexible polymer resin material, but has a drawback that it allows permeation of scent, water and oxygen. In order to prevent such permeation, aluminum foil or aluminum deposited on a synthetic resin film is mainly used. However, they have the disadvantage that disposal and content status management are relatively difficult. Also, because microwaves do not pass through, in developed countries where microwave ovens are used in almost all households, it is difficult to use as food packaging applications, and the microwave permeability of food packaging materials is often extremely high. It becomes important.
In order to combine the advantages of a synthetic resin film having microwave permeability with the advantages of an aluminum foil that does not allow water and oxygen to pass through, a metal oxide such as silicon oxide or aluminum oxide is deposited on the synthetic resin film. It is used.
In a deposition apparatus for depositing these metal oxides on a synthetic resin film, for example, when depositing a silicon oxide film, the deposition material is heated, and the evaporated silicon oxide vapor is oxidized in a controlled reactive atmosphere, It reaches SiOx (x = degree of oxidation of 1.5 to 1.9) on the synthetic resin film. At this time, it is necessary to form silicon oxide on the synthetic resin film at a speed of several meters per second from the viewpoint of economic cost, and a crucible that can withstand the evaporation temperature of silicon oxide of 1,350 ° C. or higher is required. Become.
However, in a vapor deposition apparatus for depositing a metal oxide on a synthetic resin film, a case where a sublimation material that sublimates directly from a solid such as silicon monoxide and evaporates without passing through a liquid phase is used, and a case such as silicon dioxide. The problem in the apparatus to be used differs greatly from the case of using an evaporating material in which a solid evaporates (melts) through a liquid phase.
That is, in order to stably form a vapor deposition film of silicon monoxide as a sublimation material, in the process of sublimation of the sublimation material by electron beam irradiation, impurities such as moisture mixed in the sublimation material itself, sublimation material A phenomenon (splash) may occur in which the sublimation material bumps and scatters in a solid phase depending on the surface state or the like.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an apparatus having means for stably attaching a sublimated material to a synthetic resin film in order to improve the properties of the sublimated material film formed on the synthetic resin film. .

As an irradiation procedure of the electron beam and the microwave in FIG. 5, first, the sublimation material (No. 1) is irradiated with the
Since the irradiation positions of the electron beam and the microwave irradiated using the electron beam generating means 8 and the microwave generating means 12 are substantially fixed, the material container 9 is moved in the vacuum film forming apparatus shown in FIG. Thus, the irradiation position of the electron beam and the microwave is shifted. The material container 9 can be moved by using a material container moving means 11 (shown in FIG. 1) such as a carriage, but is not limited thereto.
As shown in FIG. 5, the sublimation of the sublimation material proceeds sequentially from No. 1 to No. 7 by irradiating an electron beam and the material container 9 performs translational mobility at a constant speed in the negative direction of the X axis. Thereafter, in order to further sublimate the sublimation material continuously, the frame moves forward one frame in the negative direction of the Y axis and translates in the opposite (plus) direction in the X axis direction. By repeating these steps, No. 1-No. The sublimation material can be stably sublimated up to 49.
In FIG. 1-No. No. 10
Further, as shown in FIG. 1, by arranging a mesh-

<Example 1>
First, a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film (T60, 25 μm thickness, 500 mm width, 2000 m length, roll winding, manufactured by Toray Industries, Inc.) is installed as a synthetic resin film on a film unwinding roll in a vacuum film forming apparatus, and water-cooled. 200 g of silicon monoxide (manufactured by Sumitomo Titanium Co., Ltd.) was placed as a sublimation material in a copper crucible (material container), and the film formation pressure in the vacuum chamber was evacuated to 3 × 10 −3 Pa by a vacuum pump.
Next, as a microwave generation means, an oscillator for generating a microwave of 2.45 GHz, a matching unit using a 4E tuner, and a dielectric using quartz glass (120 mm × 95 mm ×
At this time, since the wavelength of 2.45 GHz is about 122 mm (wavelength = wavelength of light / from 2.45 GHz), the gas is located at a position about 60 mm away from the quartz glass (dielectric) and 30 mm away from the inner wall of the waveguide. A gas pipe (having a length of 30 mm) was fixed at the center of the long side of the waveguide so that the injection port was arranged. Furthermore, copper was used as the material of the gas pipe, and water cooling means (cooling means) was installed around the gas pipe, and 1 L / min of cooling water at 25 ° C. was circulated to stabilize the temperature of the gas pipe. A samarium-cobalt alloy permanent magnet was installed at the tip of the gas pipe, and its magnetic force was about 100 gauss.
Next, oxygen plasma is supplied so that the pressure before irradiating the electron beam from the gas injection port becomes 1 × 10 −2 Pa, and 2 kW of electric power is supplied from a microwave power source (oscillator), thereby generating oxygen plasma. Was generated.
Next, while heating the temperature of the sublimation material by the electron beam heating means, the PET film was unwound at a running speed of 60 m / min, and vapor deposition on the cooling roll was started. The temperature of the cooling roll at this time is −20 ° C., the moving speed of the material container is 25 mm / min, the acceleration voltage of the electron beam generating means is −40 KV, the emission current value is 0.25 A, and the pressure in the vacuum chamber is 4 ×. 10 −2 Pa.

<Comparative Example 3>
Vapor deposition was performed on the PET film in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the material container moving means was not operated and the electron beam irradiation position was discretely shifted.
<比較例4>

<Comparative example 4>

<評価>
<Evaluation>
Each SiO-attached film prepared using the apparatuses of Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1 to 4 was cut into A4 size. Sample collection points were set at three points of 500 m, 1000 m, and 1500 m in the synthetic resin film transport direction when the film formation start point was 0 m.
First, about each sample, the state of the pinhole around a material container was observed visually.
Next, for each sample, the number of pinholes was observed with an optical microscope.
Next, for each sample, the film thickness of SiO was measured by the fluorescent X-ray reflectivity method.
The results are shown in Table 1.
In Example 1, it can be seen that the number of pinholes around the material container is small and the amount of splash is small as compared with Comparative Examples 1 to 3.
By comparing Example 1 with Comparative Example 1, it can be seen that the gas, which is an impurity such as moisture due to microwaves, has a correlation with the amount of splash generated from the material itself.
Moreover, by comparing Example 1 with Comparative Example 2, it can be seen that the amount of splash given to the film by the trapping effect of the filter is greatly suppressed.
Further, in Comparative Example 3, since the focal length of the electron beam is changed successively, not only the uniform performance of the film thickness is deteriorated, but also the effect of degassing by microwaves cannot be expected, so the amount of splash is very large. As a result. This shows that the uneven surface state of the sublimation material generated by the electron beam irradiating the surface of the sublimation material heated and sublimated with an electron beam many times has a correlation with the splash amount. .
Further, in Comparative Example 4, it can be seen that the film thickness of SiO tends to become thin due to clogging of the filter with the film formation over a long period of time, and the mass productivity is poor.
