Description
図1は、本発明の実施の形態1におけるFFS方式の液晶表示装置の画素近傍の平面図である。図1における1つの画素は、表示制御領域10と視野角制御領域20とで構成されている。表示制御領域10は、液晶の倒れる向きを規定するために形成されたくの字状のコモン電極11により、液晶分子が傾くように配向制御されている領域である。
図3は、本発明の実施の形態1における液晶表示装置の製造方法の工程説明図である。まず始めに、第1工程により、基板40の上に、ゲート電極41、ゲートパッド42、データパッド43を形成する。
Claims (2)
- 画素の集合からなる表示画面を有するFFS方式の液晶表示装置であって、
1つの画素のそれぞれは、
液晶の倒れる向きを規定するために形成されたくの字状のコモン電極により液晶分子が傾くように配向制御され、薄膜トランジスタを介して電圧が供給される表示制御領域と、
上下方位あるいは左右方位に液晶分子が傾くように配向制御され、前記表示制御領域のコモン線とは独立した視野角制御線を介して制御電圧が印加され、前記表示制御領域と同じ画素内に位置する視野角制御領域と
を備え、
前記視野角制御領域に対向する基板上にカラーフィルタによる着色層を設けない
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 基板上に薄膜トランジスタのゲート電極、ゲートパッド、データパッドを形成する第1工程と、
ゲート絶縁膜を形成するとともに、前記ゲート電極上に前記薄膜トランジスタのソース電極およびドレイン電極を形成する第2工程と、
第1のパッシベーション層およびフォトアクリル層を前記基板全面に順次形成した後にコンタクトホールを形成する第3工程と、
液晶分子が傾くように配向制御された表示制御領域用のコモン電極と、上下方位および左右方位に液晶分子が傾くように配向制御された視野角制御用のコモン電極とを分離して形成する第4工程と、
第2のパッシベーション層を前記基板全面に形成した後にコンタクトホールを形成する第5工程と、
前記薄膜トランジスタを介して電圧が供給される前記表示制御領域に画素電極を形成するとともに、それぞれの画素の表示制御領域に対応しており、前記表示画素領域と独立した視野角制御線を介して制御電圧が印加される視野角制御領域に上下方向および左右方向に液晶分子が傾くように視野角制御電極を形成する第6工程と
を備え、
前記視野角制御領域は、前記表示制御領域と同じ画素内に位置し、
前記表示制御領域に形成される表示制御領域用のコモン電極は、液晶の倒れる向きを規定するために形成されたくの字状に形成され、
前記視野角制御領域に対向する基板上にカラーフィルタによる着色層を設けない
ことを特徴とするFFS方式の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
