Description
通信システムは、例えばモバイル装置のようなエンドノードをネットワークに結合させているアクセスノードに結合した複数のネットワークノードを含む場合が多い。ネットワークノードは、階層状に配列されてもよい。アクセス認証及び許可(AAA)サーバは、通常、ネットワーク階層の比較的高い階層に分類されるノードである。AAAサーバは、セキュリティ及びアクセス制御に使用される情報を提供することが一般的である。アクセスノードは、AAAサーバを使用する場合に備えてAAAサーバとの安全なリンクを有する場合が多い。安全なリンクは、階層内の1つ又は複数のノードを介するものであってよい。
モバイル装置のような1つ又は複数のエンドノードとの通信セッションをサポートするために使用される、例えばコンテキストや他の情報のような状態を記憶、操作、検索、及び転送する本発明の方法及び装置は、幅広い通信システムと共に使用することができる。例えば、本発明は、モバイル通信装置をサポートするシステムと共に使用できる。このようなシステムには、モデムを装備したノートブックコンピュータ、PDA、及びこれ以外の、装置移動度について無線インターフェースをサポートする多様な装置が含まれる。
次に、図5を参照しながら本発明の1つの特徴によるCSMNオペレーションについて説明する。図5は、図1の簡略版であり、上述した例示的なシステムにおけるコア状態管理発信を示す。描画された発信は、ハンドオフ動作の一部として発生することがある。図5は、図3に従って実現されたアクセスノード140、140’と、図2に従って実現されたエンドノードX146と、図4に従って実現されたコア状態管理ノード(CSMN)104とを含む。図5のノード間をつなぐ回線は、本発明に従って送受信された、状態管理に関連したメッセージを表しており、これについては以下で説明する。図5のノード間の破線は任意のメッセージを示す。
例えばタイマの期限が切れた場合に、CSMNから状態を除去することができる。また、古い状態を、同じエンドノードに関連したより新しい状態で上書きすることでも状態の除去を行うことができ、このような上書きによって、記録された状態に関連する時間が再設定される。本発明の一実施形態では、CSMN104は、AN−STUメッセージ520を受信すると、先行の2つのセクションに記述されている処理に加えて、所定の、又は交渉した値のタイマを開始し、上記タイマを受信したメッセージ520内に含まれている状態と関連付け、これをコア状態管理データ413(図4)に記憶する。上記タイマの期限が切れると、このタイマに関連し、エンドノードに関連している状態が、CSMNノード104のコア状態管理データ413(図4)から除去される。タイマ期限が切れた際のエンドノード状態の除去は、この状態が、タイマが有効であった間にSTRQメッセージを介して要求されたものであるかどうかには依存しない。さらに、まだタイマが有効であった間に、CSMNが、同一又は別のアクセスノードから、同一のエンドノードXの状態を備える別のAN−STUメッセージを受信している場合には、CSMNはタイマを元の値に再設定する。このタイマの再設定は、更新された状態が既存の記憶された状態と同じであるか、異なるかに関係なく実行される。
場合によっては、要求された状態情報をCSMNで使用できないこともある。本発明の一実施形態では、受信したSTRQメッセージ560に指示されたエンドノードに使用できる状態がない場合には、CSMN104が、上記エンドノードに使用できる状態がないとの表示を含むCSMN−STUメッセージ570を戻す。本発明の別の実施形態では、受信したSTRQメッセージ560に表示のエンドノードに使用できる状態がない場合には、CSMN104が所定の又は交渉されたタイマを開始し、これを上記メッセージ560に関連付ける。CSMNは、タイマの期限が切れる前に、例えばAN−STUメッセージ520のようなメッセージ560内で識別されたエンドノードの状態を受信すると、先に記述したとおりにメッセージ520を処理し、直ちにタイマを停止し、CSMN−STUメッセージ570をアクセスノード140’に送信する。タイマの期限が切れ、適切な状態が受信されなかった場合には、CSMNノード104が、上記エンドノードに使用できる状態がない旨の表示を含むCSMN−STUメッセージ570を戻す。本発明の第3実施形態では、受信したSTRQメッセージ560に表示されたエンドノードに使用できる状態がない場合には、CSMN140が、現在要求している状態エンドノードX146の識別子とアクセスノード140’の識別子とを備える任意の転送状態要求(TSRQ)メッセージ561を、上記エンドノードX146への状態を要求した1つ前のアクセスノード、即ちアクセスノード140に送信する。この場合は、図5に示すように、アクセスノード140がAN−STUメッセージ521をアクセスノード140’へ送信する。アクセスノード140’は、AN−STUメッセージ521を受信すると、上記メッセージに含まれている状態を状態管理データ313(図3)に記憶し、任意で肯定メッセージ531をアクセスノード140へ戻す。
本発明の一実施形態では、CSMNノード104によって受信されたAN−STUメッセージ520に含まれている状態情報が、CSMN104のコア状態管理データ413(図4)に既に存在する任意の状態情報を上書きする。本発明の別の実施形態では、シングルエンドノードに関連した複数のバージョンの状態がCSMN104に保持され、関連するタイマの期限、又は、別のネットワークノードからの明確なメッセージのようなトリガの期限が切れた場合にのみ除去される。以下で、AN−STUメッセージ520に含まれる1つ又は複数のカウント値に基づいて状態を更新する決定が関与しているこれ以外の様々な実施形態を、例えば図14に関連して説明する。
本発明の一実施形態では、CSMNは、エンドノードに関連した状態をCSMN−STUメッセージ570内の要求側のアクセスノードに送信する前に、この状態をローカルポリシーに従って変更する。
本発明の一実施形態では、アクセスノード140’からのRSRPメッセージ580は、関連するCSMN−STUメッセージ570内のアクセスノードが受信した状態の表示を含む。本発明の一実施形態では、提供されたこの表示は、エンドノードが受信したダイジェストを、アクセスノード140にて有する状態のダイジェストと比較できるようにし、この状態が正確であるかどうかを認識できるようにするためのダイジェストである。エンドノードが、状態が一致するべきである、あるいはアクセスノード140を介して記憶された状態と異なるべきであると認識している場合は、エンドノードが障害検出ポリシーに従ってさらなる動作を実行することができる。
本発明の一実施形態では、アクセスノード140が、エンドノードX146との接続性の損失を検出するとすぐにAN−STUメッセージ520を送信する。
図6は本発明の別の実施形態を示し、ここでは、アクセスノード140、140’は別々の領域に属しているため、異なるCSMNノード104、104’からの状態を記憶し、検索する。本発明では、「領域」という用語を、状態の記憶/検索元と、状態の記憶/検索先とに同一のCSMNノードを使用して多数のアクセスノードを識別するために用いている。大型ネットワークを複数のCSMN領域に分割することで、本発明で述べる状態転送方法のスケーリングが促進される。
本発明の一実施形態では、上述で参照した領域IDが、同一領域のCSMNノードを識別する。本発明の別の実施形態では、領域IDは、このIDを、この領域のCSMNノードを識別するIDに解決できるようにする構造のものである。
図7は、図6の方法とは別の方法を示す。図7では、エンドノードX146は、エンドノードX146識別子と、アクセスノード140’に対応する領域IDとを含む状態要求記憶(SSRQ)メッセージ710をアクセスノード140へ送信する。アクセスノード140は、SSRQメッセージ710を受信すると、上記エンドノードに関連した状態について状態管理データ313(図3)を検索し、アクセスノード状態転送更新(AN−STU)メッセージ720をコア状態管理ノード(CSMN)104へ送信する。上記AN−STUメッセージ720はエンドノードX146識別子と、アクセスノード140が利用できる上記エンドノードに関連した状態と、SSRQメッセージ710に含まれていた領域IDとを含む。
図8は、CSMNノードを階層状に配列することで、高レベルのCSMNノード104”が、低レベルCSMNノード104、104’によって保持されている状態の全て又は一部のコピーを保持できるようにした、本発明の別の実施形態を示す。図8では、メッセージ510、520、530、540、550、560、570、及び580は、図5に関連して述べた符号付きのメッセージと同一又は類似している。CSMN104は、メッセージ520を受信した際に、図5で述べた処理に加えて、状態遷移更新(STU’)メッセージ522をCSMNノード104”へ送信する。
エンドノードX146は、新規のアクセスノード140’に到達すると、又はアクセスノード140’へのハンドオフの開始を探索すると、アクセスノードに対応したセル内に到着したことを表す信号550をアクセスノード140’に送信し、さらに、アクセスノード140’への接続及び/又はハンドオフを希望する。通常、メッセージ550は、エンドノード146を識別するエンドノード識別子と、エンドノードX146に現在仕えている、又はこれの1つ前に仕えていたアクセスノード140を示す情報を含み、さらに、アクセスノード140’に関連した識別子を含むことができる。
図12は、アクセスノード140内で状態が変化した後にアクセスノード140、140’の間で状態が再同期される、本発明の例示的な実施形態を示す。
Claims (4)
- 状態情報の通信を提供するためのアクセスノードであって、
エンドノードから要求メッセージを受信するためのインターフェースと、
前記エンドノードに関連する最新状態情報についてメモリを検索し、
前記要求メッセージに基づいて更新メッセージを生成し、なお、前記更新メッセージは、エンドノード識別子と、前記最新状態情報のタイムスタンプと、を含んでおり、
前記最新状態情報で、前記エンドノードに関連する記憶された状態情報を更新するように管理ノードに命令するために、前記管理ノードに対して前記更新メッセージを送信するように前記インターフェースを開始するように構成された、
前記メモリと結合されたプロセッサと、
を備えている、アクセスノード。 - 状態情報の通信を提供するための無線通信ノードであって、
エンドノードから要求メッセージを受信するための手段と、
状態情報を記憶するための手段と、
前記エンドノードに関連する最新状態情報について記憶するための前記手段を検索するための手段と、
前記要求メッセージに基づいて更新メッセージを生成するための手段と、なお、前記更新メッセージは、エンドノード識別子と、前記最新状態情報のタイムスタンプと、を含んでおり、
前記最新状態情報で、前記エンドノードに関連する記憶された状態情報を更新するように管理ノードに命令するために、前記管理ノードに対して前記更新メッセージを送信するための手段と、
を備えている、無線通信ノード。 - 状態情報の通信のための方法であって、
エンドノードから要求メッセージを受信することと、
前記エンドノードに関連する最新状態情報についてメモリユニットを検索することと、 前記要求メッセージに基づいて更新メッセージを生成することと、なお前記更新メッセージは、エンドノード識別子と、前記最新状態情報のタイムスタンプと、を含んでおり、 前記エンドノードに関連する記憶された状態情報を前記最新状態情報により更新するように前記記憶ノードに命令するために、前記記憶ノードに対して前記更新メッセージを送信することと、
を備えている方法。 - マシンによる実行が可能な命令を含んでいるコンピュータ読み出し可能媒体であって、前記マシンによる実行が可能な命令は、
エンドノードから要求メッセージを受信することと、
