この発明は、医療機器に関し、より特定的には、分岐した体内腔のための内腔プロテーゼなどの内腔装置と、このような内腔装置を製造および使用するための方法とに関する。
血管および脈管などの人および動物の体の機能的血管は、時として弱まるかまたはさらには破裂することがある。たとえば、大動脈壁が弱まると、結果として動脈瘤が発生する可能性がある。さらに血流力にさらされると、このような動脈瘤が破裂する可能性があり、結果として内出血を引起こし、大抵の場合、死に至ることとなる。
めのために分岐内腔プロテーゼを設けることが好ましいかもしれない。分岐内腔プロテーゼは、主要な身体用プロテーゼとは独立して、または当該プロテーゼとともに用いられてもよい。
この発明の第1の局面に従うと、分岐血管体内腔内に展開可能な分岐血管プロテーゼを含む、分岐した体内腔のための内腔プロテーゼシステムが提供される。分岐血管プロテーゼは、概して管状の本体部分を有するステントと、フレア可能な近位端部分と、本体部分とフレア可能な部分との中間に配置される連結部分とを含む。当該連結部分は好ましくは本体部分よりも耐破砕性が高く、このため、ステントは、血管の分岐する小孔領域に存在する高い内腔応力に耐え得る。
