医療用グレードのチタン金属(純チタン)からなる、12mm×12mm×5mmの板状体の片面に、エンドミルを用いて、断面形状が長方形の溝を、板状態の端から端まで形成した。1枚の試料に、深さ(D)を200μmに固定して、幅(W)を200μm、500μm、800μm及び1000μmに変更した溝を、それぞれ形成した。また、深さ(D)を500μm、800μm及び1000μmに固定して、上記同様に幅(W)を4通りに変更した溝が形成された3枚の試料も作成した。その後、マッフル炉内で空気中、400℃で1時間の熱処理を施した。熱処理後の試料はいずれもブロンズ色を呈しており、この色調から、0.12〜0.2μm程度の酸化チタンの皮膜が形成されていることがわかった。
実施例1と同様の方法によって、チタン金属(純チタン)の板状体の片面に幅(W)が500μmで、深さ(D)が500μmの溝を形成した。その後、熱処理を施すことなく実施例1と同様に擬似体液に浸漬する試験を行った。その結果、溝の内表面へのアパタイト形成は全く認められなかった。溝の外側の試料表面においてもアパタイト形成は全く認められなかった。
実施例1と同様の方法によって、チタン金属(純チタン)の板状体の片面に幅(W)が500μmで、深さ(D)が500μmの溝を形成した。その後、実施例1と同様にマッフル炉内で空気中、400℃で1時間の熱処理を施した。熱処理を施した試料を、蒸留水を入れた耐圧容器に投入し、150℃で24時間加熱した。こうして得られた試料を、実施例1と同様に擬似体液に浸漬する試験を行った。その結果、溝の内表面に0.5〜1μm程度の球状のアパタイト粒子が析出している状況が観察された。このとき、溝の外側の試料表面においても同程度の寸法の球状のアパタイト粒子が少し析出していた。溝の内部でのアパタイト粒子の析出量は、溝の外側よりも多く、深い位置ではほとんど隙間なくアパタイト粒子が内表面を覆っていた。すなわち、熱水で処理することによって、溝の内表面に粒径の小さいアパタイトを高密度に析出させられることがわかった。
実施例1において、チタン金属(純チタン)の板状体の代わりに、Ti−6Al−4V及びTi−15Zr−4Ta−4Nb−0.2Pdの2種類のチタン合金の板状体(寸法は実施例1と同じ)を用いて、その片面に幅(W)が500μmで、深さ(D)が500μmの溝を形成した。溝が形成された各合金試料をそれぞれ2つずつ作成し、400℃で1時間加熱処理した試料と、500℃で1時間加熱処理した試料とを作成した。これら合計4種類の試料について、実施例1と同様に擬似体液に浸漬する試験を行った。その結果、400℃で加熱した試料では両合金ともにアパタイトが形成されなかった。そして、Ti−6Al−4Vについては、500℃で加熱した試料でもアパタイトが形成されなかったが、Ti−15Zr−4Ta−4Nb−0.2Pdについては、500℃で加熱した試料において、溝の内表面に3〜5μm程度のアパタイト粒子が析出していることが確認された。このとき、溝の外側の試料表面においても同程度の寸法の球状のアパタイト粒子が析出していたが、溝の内表面に比べるとごく僅かであった。このことから、チタン合金は酸化物皮膜の形成が純チタンよりも困難であって、それを形成するのに高い温度を要するようである。そして、アルミニウム及びバナジウムを含有する合金の場合にはアパタイト形成が困難であったのに対し、ジルコニウム、タンタル、ニオブ及びパラジウムを含有する合金の場合にはアパタイトの形成が認められ、本発明のインプラントの基材として適していることがわかった。
Claims (10)
- 骨組織との接合部位においてチタン金属又はチタン合金からなる基材の表面に溝が形成された骨親和性インプラントであって;
前記溝の幅(W)が0.25〜0.8mmであり、前記溝の深さ(D)が0.25〜1mmであり、溝の幅(W)に対する溝の深さ(D)の比(D/W)が0.1〜2であり、かつ
該溝の内表面に、酸素含有雰囲気中で加熱形成された厚さが0.01〜1μmの酸化物皮膜を有することを特徴とする骨親和性インプラント。 - 前記溝の断面形状が矩形、台形、U字状又はV字状である請求項1記載の骨親和性インプラント。
- 前記基材が、アルミニウム又はバナジウムを実質的に含有しない請求項1又は2記載の骨親和性インプラント。
- 前記基材が、チタンを50重量%以上含有し、かつジルコニウム、タンタル、ニオブ及びパラジウムから選択される少なくとも1種の金属を合計で0.1〜50重量%含有するチタン合金からなる請求項1〜3のいずれか記載の骨親和性インプラント。
- チタン金属又はチタン合金を所望の形状に成形してから、骨組織との接合部位においてその表面に溝を形成し、引き続き酸素含有雰囲気中で加熱することによって酸化物皮膜を形成することを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか記載の骨親和性インプラントの製造方法。
- 前記溝を、機械的切削加工、ワイヤー放電加工、レーザー加工、ウォータージェット加工、プレス加工、超音波加工、エッチング加工からなる群から選択される少なくとも一種の加工方法によって形成する請求項5記載の骨親和性インプラントの製造方法。
- 前記溝を形成してから研磨処理する請求項5又は6記載の骨親和性インプラントの製造方法。
- 前記酸化物皮膜を形成する際の加熱温度が300〜700℃である請求項5〜7のいずれか記載の骨親和性インプラントの製造方法。
- 前記酸化物皮膜を形成した後に、80〜300℃の水又は水蒸気で処理する請求項5〜8のいずれか記載の骨親和性インプラントの製造方法。
- 前記酸化物皮膜を形成した後に、カルシウムイオン及びリン酸イオンを含有する水溶液に浸漬する請求項5〜8のいずれか記載の骨親和性インプラントの製造方法。
