Description
Claims (9)
- 第1の基板と、第2の基板と、
上記第1と第2の基板に挟まれた液晶層と、
上記第1の基板上にマトリクス状に配置された画素部を有する液晶表示装置であって、
上記第1の基板の液晶層に面して形成された第1の有機膜と、
上記第2の基板の液晶層に面して形成された第2の有機膜とを有し、
上記液晶層に面する第1の有機膜に光照射によって生じた第1の遅相軸と、上記液晶層に面する第2の有機膜に光照射によって生じた第2の遅相軸とが交差しており、
上記液晶層に電界を印加した場合に液晶分子が倒れる方向と、第1の遅相軸または第2の遅相軸とが異なり、
上記第1の遅相軸と第2の遅相軸は、光照射によって、上記第1の有機膜と第2の有機膜の主鎖が伸びる方向にそれぞれ形成されることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 上記液晶分子は上記第1の有機膜および第2の有機膜に対して垂直方向に配向することを特徴とする特許請求の範囲の請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 上記光照射は偏光された紫外線の照射であることを特徴とする特許請求の範囲の請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第1の基板と、第2の基板と、
上記第1と第2の基板に挟まれた液晶層と、
上記第1の基板上にマトリクス状に配置された画素部を有する液晶表示装置であって、
上記第1の基板の液晶層に面して形成された第1の有機膜と、
上記第2の基板の液晶層に面して形成された第2の有機膜と、
第1の基板に形成され第1の方向に延伸する第1の突起と、
第2の基板に形成され第1の方向に延伸する第2の突起とを有し、
上記液晶層に面する第1の有機膜に光照射によって生じた第1の遅相軸と、上記液晶層に面する第2の有機膜に光照射によって生じた第2の遅相軸とが交差しており、
上記液晶層に電界を印加した場合に液晶分子は、上記第1の方向に交差する方向に倒れ、
上記液晶分子の倒れる方向と、第1の遅相軸または第2の遅相軸とが異なり、
上記第1の遅相軸と第2の遅相軸は、光照射によって、上記第1の有機膜と第2の有機膜の主鎖が伸びる方向にそれぞれ形成されることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 上記液晶分子は上記第1の有機膜および第2の有機膜に対して垂直方向に配向するVAモードであることを特徴とする特許請求の範囲の請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 上記光照射は偏光された紫外線の照射であることを特徴とする特許請求の範囲の請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第1の基板と、第2の基板と、
上記第1と第2の基板に挟まれた液晶層と、
上記第1の基板上にマトリクス状に配置された画素部を有する液晶表示装置であって、
上記第1の基板の液晶層に面して形成された第1の有機膜と、
上記第2の基板の液晶層に面して形成された第2の有機膜と、
上記第1の基板に形成され第1の方向と該第1の方向と交差する第2の方向とに折れ曲がり延伸する第1の突起と、
上記第2の基板に形成され第1の突起と同様に第1の方向と該第1の方向と交差する第2の方向とに折れ曲がり延伸する第2の突起とを有し、
上記液晶層に面する第1の有機膜に光照射によって生じた第1の遅相軸と、上記液晶層に面する第2の有機膜に光照射によって生じた第2の遅相軸とが交差しており、
上記液晶層に電界を印加した場合に液晶分子は、上記第1の突起および第2の突起の延伸方向と交差する方向に倒れ、
上記液晶分子の倒れる方向および第1の遅相軸の方向がそろわない領域と、上記液晶分子の倒れる方向および第2の遅相軸の方向がそろわない領域は、交互に形成され、
上記第1の遅相軸と第2の遅相軸は、光照射によって、上記第1の有機膜と第2の有機膜の主鎖が伸びる方向にそれぞれ形成されることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 上記液晶分子は上記第1の有機膜および第2の有機膜に対して垂直方向に配向するVAモードであることを特徴とする特許請求の範囲の請求項7に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 上記光照射は偏光された紫外線の照射であることを特徴とする特許請求の範囲の請求項7に記載の液晶表示装置。
