Description
Claims (20)
- ネットワークにより情報を通信する情報処理システムにおいて、
ラックと、
そのラックにより支持されている複数のシャーシと、
各シャーシによりそれぞれ支持されて、ネットワーク情報をそれぞれ処理するように動作する複数のサーバブレードと、
各シャーシによってそれぞれ支持され、そのシャーシと関連するサーバブレードとインターフェースし、ネットワークとインターフェースしている複数のスイッチと、
各スイッチと関連している構成エージェントとを具備し、
各スイッチはそれぞれ1つの構成を有しており、
各スイッチのブート期間中において、
構成エージェントは動作可能であるとき、その構成エージェントがネットワークから構成イメージをリクエストしてダウンロードし、その構成イメージによりその関連するスイッチを構成するように構成され、
構成エージェントはリクエストした構成イメージを受取ったときディスエーブルにされるように構成され、
構成イメージを受取った構成エージェントがディスエーブルにされることによって各スイッチが再ブートされるとき構成サーバが反復して呼び出されることが阻止されている情報処理システム。 - 各スイッチは管理されたイーサネット(登録商標)スイッチを備えている請求項1記載の情報処理システム。
- 前記構成エージェントはPXEエージェントを含んでいる請求項1記載の情報処理システム。
- 構成エージェントはPXEサーバから構成イメージをリクエストするように動作する請求項3記載の情報処理システム。
- 構成エージェントはさらに、構成サーバによって選択されたTFTPサーバから構成イメージを受取るように動作する請求項4記載の情報処理システム。
- 構成エージェントに対してリクエストする構成エージェントは、関係するスイッチに対するユニークな識別子を有し、ネットワークはそのユニークな識別子に基づいて構成ファクタを構成エージェントに提供するように構成されている請求項1記載の情報処理システム。
- 構成ファクタはスタティックなIPアドレスを含んでいる請求項6記載の情報処理システム。
- 情報処理システムと関連するネットワークスイッチを構成する方法において、
ネットワークスイッチの構成を規定し、
構成イメージとして構成サーバに規定された構成をロードし、
スイッチをブートし、
構成エージェントが動作可能であるか否かを決定し、
構成エージェントが動作可能であるとき、各スイッチのブート中に構成サーバから構成イメージのコピーをリクエストしてダウンロードし、
各スイッチを得られたコピーによる構成イメージによって自動的に再構成し、
構成が終了すると構成エージェントをディスエーブルにし、
構成エージェントがディスエーブルであるときには構成サーバに対するコンタクトは行われず、
各スイッチが再ブートされるときディスエーブルにされている構成エージェントが構成サーバを反復して呼び出すことが阻止されるネットワークスイッチの構成方法。 - ネットワークスイッチの構成の規定はさらに、ネットワークスイッチの1つにより構成モジュールとインターフェースし、この1つのネットワークスイッチの構成ファクタを所望の設定位置に設定する請求項8記載の方法。
- 構成イメージのコピーのリクエストはさらに、PXEエージェントにより構成イメージのコピーをリクエストする請求項8記載の方法。
- さらに、TFTPサーバから構成イメージのコピーをロードすることによって構成イメージに対してPXEエージェントのリクエストに応答する請求項10記載の方法。
- さらに、ネットワークスイッチの1以上のものに対してユニークな識別子を構成サーバに提供し、1以上のスイッチに対する構成イメージの1以上の構成ファクタを変更する請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記変更された構成ファクタは、ネットワークスイッチIPアドレス、ゲートウエイ、VLAN、トランク、またはポート速度の1以上のものを含んでいる請求項12記載の方法。
- 変更された構成ファクタは、ネットワークスイッチに対するスタティックIPアドレスを含んでいる請求項12記載の方法。
- 各スイッチの自動的な再構成はさらに、規定された構成によりスイッチを再ブートし、
次のブートにおいて構成イメージのコピーのリクエストからスイッチをフリーにする請求項8記載の方法。 - 構成イメージのコピーのリクエストはさらにPXEサーバからのコピーのリクエストを含んでいる請求項8記載の方法。
- 構成イメージのコピーのリクエストはさらに、TFTPサーバからネットワークスイッチへ構成イメージをダウンロードすることをPXEエージェントに命令するPXEサーバ
を備えている請求項16記載の方法。 - ネットワーク情報を処理するための情報処理システムと関連している複数のネットワークスイッチを自動的に構成するシステムにおいて、
ネットワークを通ってネットワークスイッチとインターフェースされている構成サーバと、
情報処理システムの各ネットワークスイッチと関連しているPXEエージェントとを具備し、
1以上の構成イメージは構成サーバと関連しており、
各スイッチのブート期間中において、
PXEエージェントが動作可能であれば、ネットワークを通って構成イメージをリクエストしてダウンロードし、その構成イメージによりその関連するネットワークスイッチを再構成し、
前記PXEエージェントはリクエストされた構成イメージが得られたときディスエーブルにされ、
前記PXEエージェントのディスエーブルによって各スイッチが再ブートされるときに構成サーバが反復して呼び出されることが阻止されているシステム。 - PXEエージェントはスイッチファームウエアに埋設された命令を含んでいる請求項18記載のシステム。
- PXEエージェントはさらに、構成イメージのダウンロードに続いてディスエーブルにするようにスイッチを再構成するように動作する請求項19記載のシステム。
