Description

説明したように、ブロードキャストシステムの基本モデルは1つ以上の中央局により扱われる、ユーザのブロードキャストネットを備え、1つ以上の中央局はある内容、例えばニュース、映画、スポーツイベントおよびこれらに類するものを有する情報をユーザに送信する。各ブロードキャストネットユーザの加入者局は共通のブロードキャストフォワードリンク信号を監視する。図1は通信システム100の概念的なブロック図を図示しており、通信システム100は本発明の実施形態にしたがって高速ブロードキャストサービス(HSBS)を実行することができる。
現在の発明の1つの実施形態では、加入者局はどのF−BSCHを監視するのかを決定するためにフォワードリンクの品質メトリックを使用する。品質メトリックは、例えばパイロット信号強度、ビットエラーレート、パケットエラーレート、当業者に知られている他の品質メトリックを含む。決定プロセスを簡単化するために、パイロットオフセットのいくつかの異なるセットとセット間の移行ルールが以下で詳細に説明されているように規定される。さまざまな実施形態の本質的な概念を容易に説明するために、以下の説明ではすべてのセット、すなわちアクティブセット、候補セット、隣接セットおよび残りのセットを使用する。HSBSサービスに加入する加入者局がセクタを捕捉したときに、メッセージをデコードし、メッセージはサポートされる各F−BSCHに対するセクタのSHOグループの一部であるセクタの識別子のリストを加入者局に提供する。1つの実施形態にしたがうと、リストは各セクタで送信されるブロードキャストサービスパラメータメッセージに提供される。他の実施形態にしたがうと、リストは既存のオーバーヘッドメッセージに提供される。加入者局は提供されたリスト中のセクタの識別子を最初に隣接セットに割り当てる。加入者局は隣接セット中のセクタの信号強度を監視し、監視された信号強度にしたがって、パイロット信号の識別子をアクティブセット、候補セットおよび隣接セットに割り当てる。加入者局が回りを移動すると、加入者局はBS6のオーバーヘッドパラメータを同時に更新する。新しいセクタからのブロードキャストサービスパラメータメッセージは追加メンバーを示し、古いセクタブロードキャストサービスパラメータメッセージにおける情報に関するSHOグループのいくつかのメンバーを削除する。したがって、BS6からのブロードキャストサービスパラメータメッセージ(BSPM6)がメンバー{BS4、BS5、BS7}を含んでいる一方、BS7からのブロードキャストサービスパラメータメッセージ(BSPM7)はメンバー{BS4、BS6}のみを含む。加入者局はあるセクタを残りのセットに置く。
先に説明したように、先に言及した特許第5,267,261号および第5,933,787号で説明されている加入者局アシストソフトおよびソフターハンドオフのように、本発明の自律ソフトハンドオフはパイロットセットの概念を利用する。先に言及した特許第5,267,261号および第5,933,787号にしたがうと、セクタ−加入者局シグナリングはパイロットセットマネージメントでアシストされる。しかしながら、本発明の実施形態にしたがう自律ソフトハンドオフはこのようなシグナリングを利用せず、したがって、セットマネージメントの異なる方法が必要とされる。セットマネージメントの概念をより理解するために、先に言及した特許第5,267,261号および第5,933,787号にしたがったセットマネージメントを概観し、本発明にしたがった実施形態を説明する。
加入者局はその識別子が候補セットのメンバーであるパイロットの信号強度が、その識別子がアクティブセットのメンバーであるパイロットのパイロット強度を、T_COMPaの値だけ越えているか否かを監視する。このようなパイロットを識別したときは、加入者局はパイロットの識別子をアクティブセットに加えるか否かの決定を行う。
加入者局の潜在的な移動性およびF−BSCHの条件の変化のために、加入者局は元のセクタのカバレッジ領域から第2のセクタのカバレッジ領域へのハンドオフが必要になる。ハンドオフを実行する方法は元のセクタのカバレッジ領域における加入者局の状態と、元のセクタおよび第2のセクタの構成とに依存する。
状態1:F−BSCHを監視しておらず、ハッシュ関数により決定される周波数に同調されている;
状態2:F−BSCHを監視しておらず、ハッシュ関数による決定される周波数とは異なるF−BSCHにより変調される周波数に同調される;
状態3:F−BSCHを監視しており、したがって、F−BSCHにより変調される周波数に同調される。
上述した実施形態とは異なり、この実施形態は、F−BSCHの監視もしている間に、トラフィックチャネル上で専用モード(例えば音声通話)にある加入者局のためにハンドオフを企図している。本発明の1つの実施形態にしたがうと、基地局−加入者局シグナリングアシストハンドオフは通話に対して実施される。さらに、本発明の実施形態で開示されているハンドオフ方法はF−BSCHに対して実施される。基地局はハンドオフ指示メッセージを通してトラフィックチャネル上でハンドオフするために新しいパイロットセットを加入者局に提供する。説明したように、加入者は1つの実施形態にしたがってブロードキャストサービスパラメータメッセージを通してパイロットセットについての情報を受信する。しかしながら、加入者局はアイドル状態にあるときのみブロードキャストサービスパラメータメッセージを受信することができる。
Claims (16)
- ブロードキャスト通信システムでのハンドオフのための方法において、
前記方法は、加入者局により動作可能であり、
チャネル上でデータをブロードキャストする1つ以上のセクタから前記チャネル上でデータをブロードキャストするセクタのリストを受け取ることと、
最大しきい値を超えた品質メトリックを有する各セクタを前記アクティブセットに割り当てることと、
最小しきい値を下回った品質メトリックを有する各セクタを非アクティブセットに割り当てることと、
前記アクティブセット中の各セクタからの前記ブロードキャストされたデータを監視することと、
中間しきい値を超えた品質メトリックを有する各セクタを候補セットに割り当てることと、
前記セクタが、時間しきい値までの間前記候補セット中のままである場合に、前記候補セット中の各セクタを前記アクティブセットに割り当てることとを含む方法。 - 前記割り当ての後に、前記アクティブセット中の各セクタから、セクタの1つ以上の後続リストを受け取ることをさらに含む請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記品質メトリックは、セクタによって送信された信号の、パイロット信号強度と、ビットエラーレートと、パケットエラーレートとのうちの1つ以上のものである請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記非アクティブセットは、前記最小しきい値を超え、かつ、前記最大しきい値を下回った品質メトリックを有するセクタを含む隣接セットを含む請求項1記載の方法。
- 加入者局において、
チャネル上でデータをブロードキャストする1つ以上のセクタから前記チャネル上でデータをブロードキャストするセクタのリストを受け取り、最大しきい値を超えた品質メトリックを有する各セクタを前記アクティブセットに割り当て、最小しきい値を下回った品質メトリックを有する各セクタを非アクティブセットに割り当て、前記アクティブセット中の各セクタからの前記ブロードキャストされたデータを監視し、中間しきい値を超えた品質メトリックを有する各セクタを候補セットに割り当て、前記セクタが、時間しきい値までの間前記候補セット中のままである場合に、前記候補セット中の各セクタを前記アクティブセットに割り当てるように構成されている回路を具備する加入者局。 - 前記回路は、前記割り当ての後に、前記アクティブセット中の各セクタから、セクタの1つ以上の後続リストを受け取るようにさらに構成されている請求項5記載の加入者局。
- 前記品質メトリックは、セクタによって送信された信号の、パイロット信号強度と、ビットエラーレートと、パケットエラーレートとのうちの1つ以上のものである請求項5記載の加入者局。
- 前記非アクティブセットは、前記最小しきい値を超え、かつ、前記最大しきい値を下回った品質メトリックを有するセクタを含む隣接セットを含む請求項5記載の加入者局。
- 加入者局において、
チャネル上でデータをブロードキャストする1つ以上のセクタから前記チャネル上でデータをブロードキャストするセクタのリストを受け取る手段と、
最大しきい値を超えた品質メトリックを有する各セクタを前記アクティブセットに割り当てる手段と、
最小しきい値を下回った品質メトリックを有する各セクタを非アクティブセットに割り当てる手段と、
前記アクティブセット中の各セクタからの前記ブロードキャストされたデータを監視する手段と、
中間しきい値を超えた品質メトリックを有する各セクタを候補セットに割り当てる手段と、
前記セクタが、時間しきい値までの間前記候補セット中のままである場合に、前記候補セット中の各セクタを前記アクティブセットに割り当てる手段とを具備する加入者局。 - 前記割り当ての後に、前記アクティブセット中の各セクタから、セクタの1つ以上の後続リストを受け取る手段をさらに具備する請求項9記載の加入者局。
- 前記品質メトリックは、セクタによって送信された信号の、パイロット信号強度と、ビットエラーレートと、パケットエラーレートとのうちの1つ以上のものである請求項9記載の加入者局。
- 前記非アクティブセットは、前記最小しきい値を超え、かつ、前記最大しきい値を下回った品質メトリックを有するセクタを含む隣接セットを含む請求項9記載の加入者局。
- ブロードキャスト通信システムでのハンドオフのためのコンピュータ読取可能記憶媒体において、
前記コンピュータ読取可能記憶媒体は、その上に記憶されているコンピュータ読取可能な命令を有し、
前記命令は、
アクティブセット中の1つ以上のセクタからチャネル上でデータをブロードキャストするセクタのリストを受け取るための命令と、
最大しきい値を超えた品質メトリックを有する各セクタを前記アクティブセットに割り当てるための命令と、
最小しきい値を下回った品質メトリックを有する各セクタを非アクティブセットに割り当てるための命令と、
前記アクティブセット中の各セクタからの前記ブロードキャストされたデータを監視するための命令と、
中間しきい値を超えた品質メトリックを有する各セクタを候補セットに割り当てるための命令と、
前記セクタが、時間しきい値までの間前記候補セット中のままである場合に、前記候補セット中の各セクタを前記アクティブセットに割り当てるための命令とを含むコンピュータ読取可能記憶媒体。 - 前記命令は、前記割り当ての後に、前記アクティブセット中の各セクタから、セクタの1つ以上の後続リストを受け取るための命令をさらに含む請求項13記載のコンピュータ読取可能記憶媒体。
