Description
複数個の光エミッタを有し、
光エミッタによって放出された光をコリメートする第1の光コリメータを有し、
第1の光コリメータは、照明システムの長手方向軸線周りに配置され、
第1の光コリメータ中の光の伝搬は、全反射を利用しており、
光エミッタによって放出された光をコリメートする第2の光コリメータを有し、
第2の光コリメータは、長手方向軸線に沿って第1の光コリメータ周りに配置され、
第2の光コリメータ中の光の伝搬は、全反射又は長手方向軸線から遠ざかる方向に向いた第2の光コリメータの外面での反射を利用しており、
第1の光コリメータと第2の光コリメータとの間に設けられたキャビティを有し、
キャビティは、エレクトロウェティングを利用した切り換え可能な光学素子を備え、
切り換え可能な光学素子は、第2の光コリメータの作用効果を軽減する動作モードに切り換え可能であることを特徴とする照明システムによって達成される。
切り換え可能な光学素子が、第1の光コリメータ1とキャビティ3内の流体との間のインターフェイスに屈折率の変化が無く又は比較的小さい動作モードに切り換えられた場合、光エミッタR,G,Bにより放出され、第1の光コリメータ1中を伝搬する光は、第1の光コリメータ1とキャビティ3内の流体との間のインターフェイスで反射されず又は大部分反射されない。この動作モードは、図1Bに例示されている。図1Bでは、光は、第1の光コリメータ1からキャビティ3内の切り換え可能光学素子を通り、第2の光コリメータ2に入る。この動作モードでは、第1の光コリメータ1及び第2の光コリメータ2は、全反射又は第2の光コリメータ2の外面23に施された反射膜24での反射を利用する単一の光コリメータとして作用する。第2の光コリメータ2の形状に応じて、この結果、一般的に、照明システムにより比較的幅の狭い光ビームが放出されることになる。
好ましくは、第1の流体f1は、電気的に絶縁性である。好ましくは、第1の流体f1は、油、例えばシリコーン油、又はアルカン、例えばヘキサデカンである。好ましくは、第2の流体f2は、導電性である。極性流体の適当な例は、所定の屈折率を有する水性の導電性流体、例えば塩水、例えば水に溶かした塩化カリウムである。
Claims (11)
- 照明システムであって、
複数個の光エミッタ(R,G,B)を有し、
前記光エミッタによって放出された光をコリメートする第1の光コリメータ(1)を有し、
前記第1の光コリメータ(1)は、前記照明システムの長手方向軸線(25)周りに配置され、
前記第1の光コリメータ(1)中の光の伝搬は、全反射を利用しており、
前記光エミッタによって放出された光をコリメートする第2の光コリメータ(2)を有し、
前記第2の光コリメータ(2)は、前記長手方向軸線(25)に沿って第1の光コリメータ(1)周りに配置され、
前記第2の光コリメータ(2)中の光の伝搬は、全反射又は前記長手方向軸線(25)から遠ざかる方向に向いた前記第2の光コリメータの外面(23)での反射を利用し、
前記第1の光コリメータ(1)と前記第2の光コリメータ(2)との間に設けられたキャビティ(3)を有し、
前記キャビティは、エレクトロウェティングを利用した切り換え可能な光学素子を備え、
前記切り換え可能な光学素子は、前記第2の光コリメータ(2)の作用効果を軽減する動作モードに切り換え可能である、
ことを特徴とする照明システム。 - 前記切り換え可能な光学素子は、前記第2の光コリメータ(2)の作用効果が実質的に存在しない動作モードに切り換え可能である、
請求項1に記載の照明システム。 - 前記キャビティ(3)は、前記切り換え可能な光学素子が前記第2の光コリメータ(2)の作用効果を軽減する前記動作モードに切り換わると、前記キャビティ(3)内での第1の流体(f1)と第2の流体(f2)の交換を可能にする手段を備えている、
請求項1又は2に記載の照明システム。 - 前記第1の流体(f1)は、電気的に絶縁性であり、前記第2の流体(f2)は、導電性である、
請求項3に記載の照明システム。 - 前記第1の流体は、空気又は油であり、前記第2の流体は、極性液体である、
請求項4に記載の照明システム。 - 前記照明システムは、前記光エミッタ(R,G,B)によって放出された光をコリメートする別の光コリメータ(2′)を有し、前記別の光コリメータ(2′)は、前記長手方向軸線(25)に沿って前記第2の光コリメータ(2)周りに配置され、別のキャビティ(3′)が、前記第2の光コリメータ(2)と前記別の光コリメータ(2′)との間に設けられ、前記別のキャビティ(3′)は、エレクトロウェティングを利用した別の切り換え可能な光学素子を備え、前記別の切り換え可能な光学素子は、前記別の光コリメータ(2′)の作用効果を軽減する動作モードに切り換え可能である、
請求項1又は2に記載の照明システム。 - 前記別のキャビティ(3′)は、前記別の切り換え可能な光学素子が前記別の光コリメータ(2′)の作用効果を軽減する前記動作モードに切り換わると、前記別のキャビティ(3′)内での第1の流体(f1)と第2の流体(f2)の交換を可能にする手段を備えている、
請求項6に記載の照明システム。 - 前記第1の流体(f1)は、電気的に絶縁性であり、前記第2の流体(f2)は、導電性である、
請求項7に記載の照明システム。 - 前記第1の流体(f1)は、空気又は油であり、前記第2の流体(f2)は、極性液体である、
請求項8に記載の照明システム。 - 前記照明システムは、互いに異なる3原色又は単一の原色の複数個の発光ダイオード(R,G,B)を有する、
請求項1又は2に記載の照明システム。 - 前記LED(R,G,B)は各々、公称電力で駆動されると、少なくとも25mWの放射電力出力を有する、
請求項10に記載の照明システム。
