Description
WCDは,速度,範囲,品質(誤り訂正),セキュリティ(符号化),等に関してそれぞれ異なる利点を有する多様な無線通信網を介して,情報を送受信することができる。これらの特性は,受信デバイスに転送される情報量及び情報転送期間を支配する。図1にWCDと,それが種々の無線網と対話する方法と,を示す。
前述のとおり,本発明は種々の無線通信装置を用いて実現できる。したがって,本発明を分析する前に,ユーザ110が利用できる通信ツールを理解することが重要である。例えば携帯電話機又はほかの携帯無線デバイスの場合,デバイスの統合データ処理機能が送信デバイスと受信デバイスとの間の処理を実現する際に重要な役割を演ずる。
図4は,WCDの動作を理解するためのスタック図である。トップレベル400でユーザ110はWCD100と対話する。この対話は,応用レベル410の機能を活性化するためにユーザ110がユーザ入力360を介して情報を入力するステップと,ユーザ出力370から情報を受け取るステップと,を含む。応用レベルにおいて,デバイス内の特定機能に関係するプログラムがユーザレベル及びシステムレベル双方と対話する。これらのプログラムは,視覚情報(例えばwebブラウザ,DVB−H受信器,等),聴覚情報(例えば携帯電話機,音声メール,会議ソフトウェア,DAB受信器又はアナログラジオ受信器,等),記録情報(例えばデジタル写真ソフトウェア,ワードプロセッサ,スケジュール管理,等),又はほかの情報処理,の応用を含む。応用レベル410で開始された動作は,WCD100から送信され,又は受信される情報を必要とすることがある。図4の例において,Bluetooth(登録商標)通信を介して受信デバイスへデータを送信することが要求される。その結果,応用レベル410は次にシステムレベルの資源を呼び出し,必要なデータ処理及びデータ回送を開始する。
WCD100における通信をより良く管理するために,無線通信管理専用の追加制御装置を導入してもよい。図6Aに示すとおりWCD100は複数無線制御装置(MRC)600を含む。MRC600はWCD100の主制御システムに接続されている。この結合によってMRC600は,WCD100の主制御システムを介して,通信モジュール310,312,320,340内の無線モデム又はほかの類似デバイスと通信することができる。この構成は,ある場合にはWCD100の全体無線通信効率を改善することができるが,WCD100が多忙になると(例えばWCD100の制御システムが,通信関連及び非通信関連双方の多くの異なる同時動作をマルチタスクする際に用いられるとき),問題が生じることがある。
図7Aは本発明の例示実施例を開示するものであり,WCD100に複数無線制御システム(MCS)700が導入されている。上述のMRC600に類似してMCS700は,通信衝突の問題を回避するために通信衝突の可能性を監視し,無線モデム610のような通信資源を制御することによってWCD100内の無線通信を管理する。しかしMCS700は,これらの制御機能をWCD100内の以前から必要とされているコンポーネントに分散させることによって,中央集中型のMRC600に比べて利点があると考えられる。その結果,かなりの量の通信管理操作が無線モデム610のような種々の通信資源へ局在化させることができ,WCD100内の全体制御コマンドトラヒック量を減少させることができる。
図8A〜8Cに本発明の代替例示実施例を開示する。図8Aにおいて,分散制御コンポーネント702は依然としてMCS700によって結合されている。しかしここで,分散制御コンポーネント704もMCSインタフェースを介して分散制御コンポーネント702に直接接続されている。その結果,分散制御コンポーネント704もまた,WCD100の種々の通信コンポーネントを用いる処理に関してMCS700を利用し,恩恵を受けることができる。
Claims (21)
- 複数無線制御システムを用いて多数の無線モデムを同時に管理する手段を具備するデバイスであって、該複数無線制御システムが、
遅延許容情報と遅延不許容情報とに基づいて前記多数の無線モデムの動作を制御するように構成された分散制御コンポーネントであって、
該遅延許容情報が、実際の無線モデムコネクションの継続中変化しない無線モデム設定情報を含み、
該遅延不許容情報が、無線モデムクロック同期と、無線モデムの少なくとも1又は複数の許可・不許可通信期間を含む無線モデム動作制御と、に関係する情報を少なくとも含む、
分散制御コンポーネントと、
該遅延不許容情報を伝送するための高速コネクションを専用に提供する直接物理インタフェースを通じて該分散制御コンポーネント間で該遅延不許容情報を中継する手段と、
を備える、デバイス。 - 前記中継する手段は、前記多数の無線モデムに組み込まれた前記分散制御コンポーネントに接続されている、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記多数の無線モデムに組み込まれた前記分散制御コンポーネントは、少なくとも無線動作制御装置及び同期装置を含む、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記無線動作制御装置と、前記同期装置と、前記中継する手段と、のそれぞれ少なくとも一つを、前記多数の無線モデムそれぞれに組み込んだ、請求項3に記載のデバイス。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントの1つが優先度制御装置を含む、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントのいずれか又はすべてが、受信情報が遅延不許容情報か遅延許容情報かを判定するように構成されている、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントの1又は複数が、活性通信中無線モデム間の通信衝突を回避するために、単独又は組合せで、前記遅延不許容情報及び前記遅延許容情報を用いて、前記多数の無線モデムのいずれか又はすべてをスケジュールするように構成されている、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントの1又は複数が、前記中継する手段を通じて、前記多数の無線モデムのいずれか又はすべてに同期データを要求するように構成されている、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントの1又は複数がコマンドを発行し、該コマンドは前記多数の無線モデムのいずれか又はすべての振る舞いを一時的に変更する命令を有効又は無効にする、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントのすべてが前記中継する手段を用いて通信するように構成されている、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記デバイスは、携帯電話機、パーソナルデジタルアシスタント又はパームトップ計算機のうちの少なくとも一つである、請求項1に記載のデバイス。

該遅延不許容情報が、無線モデムクロック同期と、無線モデムの少なくとも1又は複数の許可・不許可通信期間を含む無線モデム動作制御と、に関係する情報を少なくとも含む、
分散制御コンポーネントと、
該遅延不許容情報を伝送するための高速コネクションを専用に提供する直接物理インタフェースを通じて該分散制御コンポーネント間で該遅延不許容情報を中継する手段と、
を有する方法。 - 前記分散制御コンポーネントのいずれか又はすべてが、受信情報が遅延不許容情報か遅延許容情報かを判定するように構成されている、請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントの1又は複数が、活性通信中無線モデム間の通信衝突を回避するために、単独又は組合せで、前記遅延不許容情報及び前記遅延許容情報を用いて、前記多数の無線モデムのいずれか又はすべてをスケジュールするように構成されている、請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントの1又は複数が、前記中継する手段を通じて、前記多数の無線モデムのいずれか又はすべてに同期データを要求するように構成されている、請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントの1又は複数がコマンドを発行し、該コマンドは前記多数の無線モデムのいずれか又はすべての振る舞いを一時的に変更する命令を有効又は無効にする、請求項12に記載の方法。
- 計算機可読記憶媒体に上に記録された計算機実行可能プログラムコードを含む計算機プログラムであって、

該遅延不許容情報を伝送するための高速コネクションを専用に提供する直接物理インタフェースを通じて該分散制御コンポーネント間で該遅延不許容情報を中継する手段と、
を含んでいる、計算機実行可能プログラムコード、
を有する計算機プログラム。 - 前記分散制御コンポーネントのいずれか又はすべてが、受信情報が遅延不許容情報か遅延許容情報かを判定するように構成されている、請求項17に記載の計算機プログラム。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントの1又は複数が、活性通信中無線モデム間の通信衝突を回避するために、単独又は組合せで、前記遅延不許容情報及び前記遅延許容情報を用いて、前記多数の無線モデムのいずれか又はすべてをスケジュールするように構成されている、請求項17に記載の計算機プログラム。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントの1又は複数が、前記中継する手段を通じて、前記多数の無線モデムのいずれか又はすべてに同期データを要求するように構成されている、請求項17に記載の計算機プログラム。
- 前記分散制御コンポーネントの1又は複数がコマンドを発行し、該コマンドは前記多数の無線モデムのいずれか又はすべての振る舞いを一時的に変更する命令を有効又は無効にする、請求項17に記載の計算機プログラム。
