Description
電磁界放射源にカップルされた軸状の中心導体、細長い誘電性の部材であって、その軸の長さに沿って前記中心導体の少なくとも一部を包囲する誘電性の部材、細長い金属フェルールであって、当該フェルールが前記中心導体を包囲し、その長さに沿ってそれと平行に延在する、金属フェルール、を備える。
同調導体の形状及び寸法、及び、誘電性の部材の形状及び寸法、及び/又は、その誘電的特性は、事前に決定され、それによって、少なくとも、前記誘電性の部材から放射状の方向に電磁界エネルギーを放射するために、使用中に、放射双極子(dipole)が形成される。
以下の説明において、類似の要素を表示するために、類似する参照番号が使用される。そして、寸法が与えられる場合には、それらは、mmである。さらに、当業者にとって、人体の一部への放射の印加を生成し、伝送し、制御するために、本発明によって採用される電気的システムが、従来技術で説明されているようなものであり得ることが理解されるであろう。特に、共有される公開された国際特許出願WO95/04385、WO99/56642、及び、WO00/49957で説明されるようなシステムが、(以降で説明される修正を除いて)採用され得る。そして、簡潔な説明のために、これらのシステムの完全な詳細は、以下の説明では除外されている。
エタノールのような他の液体又は気体が使用され得るが、適切に、冷却液は塩水である。一定の実施例において、腫瘍治療を強化した、二次的(細胞毒性の(cytotoxic))効果を有する冷却液が使用され得る。説明される実施例において、冷却液1114は、それが管114に進入(図1の矢印Aを参照)した温度より10℃高いオーダーの温度において管114を排出される(図1の矢印Bを参照)。従って、実質的な熱エネルギーが、放射アプリケータ102から抽出される。冷却液1114は、例えば、室温で管1114に進入し得る。しかし、冷却液1114は、何らかの適切な技術によって、室温より低く予備冷却され得る。

Claims (8)
- 電磁気的放射を組織に印加するための放射アプリケータであって、
電磁気的放射のソースにカップルされ、軸を規定するようにされた軸中心の導体、
所定の強度パターンの電磁界エネルギーを組織内に伝えるようにされた細長い誘電性先端部材であって、当該誘電性先端部材が、その軸の長さに沿って前記中心導体の少なくとも一部を包囲する、誘電性先端部材、及び
前記中心導体に付着され、それと電気的接触状態にある同調導体を備え、
前記同調導体の形状及び寸法、前記誘電性部材の形状及び寸法、及び/又は、その誘電的特性が、事前に決定されることによって、使用状態において、前記誘電性の部材から、少なくとも放射状の方向(radial direction)に電磁気的エネルギーを放射するために、放射ダイポール(dipole)が形成される、

- 前記協動面が、それぞれの環状協動面を含む、請求項3又は4に記載のアプリケータ。
- 前記誘電性部材が、エンド・ブレード(end blade)で形成されることによって、ブレードが、前記軸を横断する延長線の寸法を持つ、請求項1ないし5のいずれか1項に記載のアプリケータ。
- 前記誘電性部材によって包囲される前記部分から間隔をあけられた中心導体の一部を包囲する細長い金属管を更に備え、
前記フェルールが、その対向するそれぞれの側の上で、前記誘電性部材、及び、前記金属管に固定的に付着され、
前記中心導体が、前記金属管内を延在するケーブルの内側導体を含み、前記ケーブルと前記金属管の間に、細長い環状の空間が規定されることによって、冷却液の、少なくとも前記フェルールへの通過を可能とする、
