Description
−トナーの作製−
以下のトナーを作製した:
BSPEは、分枝状スルホン化非結晶性ポリエステル樹脂を意味する。同様に、CPEは結晶性ポリエステル樹脂を意味する。
−キャリアの作製−
両方のキャリアは、キャリアコアの2重量%の全コーティング剤重量でコーティングされた35μのフェライト製コア粒子溶液である。コーティング剤は、コーティング剤中にカーボンブラックを組み込んでいるメチル(メタクリレート)/パーフルオロエチルメタクリレートコポリマーである。低抵抗キャリアは、2%コーティング剤重量の18.3重量%のカーボンブラックを有していた。高カーボンブラック装填量は、低抵抗キャリアの固有抵抗を5.86×106Ω・cmへ低下させる。高抵抗キャリアは、全2%コーティング剤重量の8.5重量%のカーボンブラックを有している。低カーボンブラック装填量は、高抵抗キャリアの固有抵抗を3.22×109Ω・cmへ上昇させる。
−キャリア固有抵抗の測定−
キャリアサンプルは、測定前にはコンディショニングしなかった。測定は21℃、40%相対湿度(RH)で実施した。キャリア固有抵抗を決定するために、直径6cmを有する2つの円形平面ステンレススチール製電極間に30gのキャリア粉末を挟んだ。キャリアパイルの高さは、およそ5mmへ調整した。上方電極には4kgの荷重を適用した。環状電極を高抵抗計の導線へ接続して、10Vの印加電圧でキャリアパイルの電気抵抗を測定した。キャリア固有抵抗は、固有抵抗に電極表面積をかけ、パイル高さで割ることによって計算した。
−トナー固有抵抗の測定−
1gの親トナーをAゾーン環境チャンバ内で一晩かけてコンディショニングした(28℃/85%RH)。翌日、Aゾーンからのサンプルは、油圧プレスを装備したピストン・シリンダ式導電セルを用いて2,000PSIの圧力でペレット形に圧縮した。圧縮したトナーサンプルの固有抵抗は、高抵抗計を用いて10V電位で測定した。デジタルノギスを用いてペレットの長さを測定し、圧縮したサンプルの固有抵抗を計算した。
−帯電の測定−
各トナーサンプルは、2.0重量%のシリカ、3.4重量%のチタニアおよび1.5重量%のゾル・ゲルシリカであるX−24と、15,000rpmに設定したサンプルミル上で30秒間混合した。現像剤のサンプルは、0.5gの親トナーサンプルおよび10gのキャリアを用いて作製した。評価した各トナーについて、2つずつの現像剤サンプル対を上記のとおりに作製した。この対の一方の現像剤はAゾーン(28℃/85%RH)内で一晩コンディショニングし、他方はCゾーン環境チャンバ(10℃/15%RH)内でコンディショニングした。翌日、現像剤サンプルを密封し、ミキサーを用いて1時間攪拌した。1時間の混合後、100V/cm電界を用いる帯電スペクトログラフを用いてトナーの摩擦帯電を測定した。
−結果−
低抵抗キャリア(5.86×106Ω・cm)または高抵抗キャリア(3.22×109Ω・cm)のどちらかと2×108から4×1011Ω・cmの様々な固有抵抗を備える一連のトナーの帯電を測定した。
Claims (4)
- 結晶性ポリエステル樹脂、非結晶性樹脂、および着色剤を含むトナーであって、前記トナーが少なくとも1×1011Ω・cmの固有抵抗を有し、前記結晶性ポリエステル樹脂は3.0モル%未満のスルホン化率を有する結晶性スルホン化ポリエステル樹脂であり、前記非結晶性樹脂は非結晶性スルホン化ポリエステル樹脂であり、前記非結晶性スルホン化ポリエステル樹脂は前記結晶性スルホン化ポリエステル樹脂より高いスルホン化率を有する、トナー。
- 前記結晶性ポリエステル樹脂の前記非結晶性樹脂に対する重量比が、10:90から30:70の範囲である、請求項1に記載のトナー。
- トナーおよびキャリアを含む現像剤であって、前記トナーが結晶性ポリエステル樹脂、非結晶性樹脂、および着色剤を含み、
前記トナーが少なくとも1×1011Ω・cmの固有抵抗を有し、前記結晶性ポリエステル樹脂は3.0モル%未満のスルホン化率を有する結晶性スルホン化ポリエステル樹脂であり、前記非結晶性樹脂は非結晶性スルホン化ポリエステル樹脂であり、前記非結晶性スルホン化ポリエステル樹脂は前記結晶性スルホン化ポリエステル樹脂より高いスルホン化率を有し、前記キャリアが少なくとも1×107Ω・cmの固有抵抗を有する現像剤。 - 前記結晶性ポリエステル樹脂の前記非結晶性樹脂に対する重量比が、10:90から30:70の範囲である、請求項3に記載の現像剤。
