Claims (8)
- 複数のソース線と複数の走査線との交点付近に能動素子を含む画素がマトリクス状に配列された表示領域を有するマトリクス基板と、対向電極を有し前記マトリクス基板に対向する対向基板と、前記マトリクス基板と前記対向基板との間に挟みこまれた液晶層と、前記表示領域の近傍に配設され前記ソース線を駆動するソースドライバICとを備え、フレーム反転駆動で駆動される液晶表示装置において、
前記ソースドライバICに隣接して配設され、発熱又は放熱する熱制御機構を備えており、
前記ソースドライバICは、前記マトリクス基板にチップオングラス(COG)接続されるとともに、前記熱制御機構は、前記ソースドライバICから発生する熱により変化する当該マトリクス基板の温度傾斜を発熱することで制御可能なように、前記マトリクス基板に形成され、且つ、前記ソースドライバICの近傍に配置された発熱体、又は、前記マトリクス基板の温度傾斜を放熱することで制御可能なように、前記対向電極に熱的に結合された状態で前記マトリクス基板に形成され、且つ、前記ソースドライバICから発生する熱を前記対向電極に向けて放熱する放熱体から構成されており、
各フレーム期間では、前記走査線を前記ソースドライバICに近い側の走査線から遠い側の走査線に向かって走査し、前記ソースドライバICが該ソースドライバに最も近い側の走査線に接続された画素から遠い側の走査線に接続された画素に向かって順次に映像信号を書き込むことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記発熱体が、前記マトリクス基板内で前記ソースドライバICに対向する発熱体と、前記ソースドライバICに最も近い側の走査線に接続された複数の画素のうち両端の画素の近傍に配設される発熱体とを含む、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記熱制御機構が、遮光性を有する材料で形成されており、前記ソースドライバICに入射する光を遮光する、請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記マトリクス基板上には、前記ソースドライバICの位置決めに用いるアライメントマークが、前記基板と直交方向に見て前記熱制御機構と重なる位置に形成され、該アライメントマークは、前記熱制御機構の光反射率とは異なる光反射率を有する材料で形成されている、請求項1乃至3の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記熱制御機構は、前記マトリクス基板において、前記能動素子を遮光する遮光層と同層に形成される、請求項1乃至4の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記熱制御機構及び前記ソースドライバICによって前記マトリクス基板上で形成される温度傾斜に起因する表示領域の輝度傾斜の大きさが、前記映像信号の書込み順序に起因する表示領域の輝度傾斜の大きさと実質的に同等である、請求項1乃至5の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- フレーム周波数が120Hz以上である、請求項1乃至6の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 光源と、請求項1乃至7の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置と、該液晶表示装置を透過した前記光源からの光をスクリーンに投射する投射手段とを備えたことを特徴とする投射型液晶表示装置。
