Description
図1に本実施形態の有機EL素子の概略構成を示す。本実施形態の有機EL素子は、いわゆる缶封止構造を有する有機EL素子であり、図1に示すように、基板1上に形成された有機発光部2がガラス缶3で封止された構造を有する。
本発明者は、封止形態の異なる有機EL素子の発熱特性を検証することで、発熱が面内の輝度ムラを助長していることを突き止めた。また、封止をシート封止(膜封止)化することで、面内の温度分布を均一化し、輝度ムラの発生を抑制できることを確認した。これらの知見から、輝度ムラの解消にはシート封止構造を採用することが有利であると考えられる。そこで、本実施形態の有機EL素子では、シート封止構造を採用することに加えて加熱機構を設けることで、より一層の輝度ムラの解消を実現している。
本実施例で作製した有機EL素子は、図1に示すような缶封止構造のものである。図3に、作製した有機EL素子の平面配置及び寸法を示す。作製した有機EL素子のサイズは、50mm×50mmである。図中の斜線領域が発光エリアであり、発光エリアのサイズは29mm×34mmである。発光エリア(有機層31)の周囲には、シールエリア32が形成されており、第1電極33や第2電極34の取出し電極は、図中下辺に配置されている。
27℃→35℃→45℃→32℃(自然冷却)→55℃→30℃(自然冷却)
本実施例で作製した有機EL素子は、図2に示すような膜封止構造(シート封止構造)のものである。ただし、本実施例で作製した有機EL素子では、ガラス板上の熱拡散板や放熱板は設置していない。作製した有機EL素子の大きさは、基板サイズ100mm×100mm、発光面積74mm×81mmである。また、基板(ガラス基板)及びガラス板の厚さは、いずれも0.7mmである。
Claims (6)
- 有機発光層が電極層間に挟持されてなる有機発光部を有し、面光源として用いられる有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子であって、
前記有機発光部が平坦化層で覆われるとともに、前記平坦化層上にガラス基板、熱拡散板、及び放熱板が積層され、
前記ガラス基板上に、前記有機発光部を面内において選択的に加熱する加熱機構を有し、
前記ガラス基板が接着層により前記平坦化層上に固定されており、前記平坦化層と接着層の間に金属からなるシールド層が形成されていることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。 - 前記電極層の取出し電極から離れた位置に前記加熱機構が設置されていることを特徴とする請求項1記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記加熱機構は、ヒータとして機能する抵抗体膜を成膜することにより形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記加熱機構は、外部の熱源に接続された伝熱体を接触させる形で設置されていることを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれか1項記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記加熱機構は、発光面とは反対側の面に設置されていることを特徴とする請求項1から4のいずれか1項記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 定電流駆動されることを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれか1項記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
