Description
図1において、原料バイオマスの醗酵によって得られた醗酵液は、第1蒸留塔に送られて蒸留に付される。蒸留中に同塔の所定段にある抜き出し口からエタノール濃度40〜50重量%の含水エタノールが抜き出され、0.5kg/cm2の加圧状態で改質器へ送られる。上記加圧値は燃料電池の内部圧力より高くなるように調製する。含水エタノールの抜き出し口の後段には、固形分除去のためのフィルターや、燃料電池の被毒物質である硫黄分や塩素分、鉄分などを除去する不純物除去装置(図示省略)が設けられている。
図6において、この実施例は実施例1の変形例であり、改質器と空気予熱器を入れ換えたものである。実施例2では、改質器の温度は低くなり、逆に空気予熱器の温度は実施例1より高くできる。このため、改質器の動作温度が比較的低く設定できる場合は、実施例2を適用することで、空気予熱器の温度が高くでき、ひいては燃料電池のさらなる出力向上が可能となる。なお、改質器の動作温度は、改質器の構造や使用する触媒によって異なるので、改質器の特性によって、実施例1と実施例2を使い分けるとよい。

Claims (2)
- バイオマスの醗酵によってエタノールを製造する製造装置において、醗酵液を蒸留する蒸留塔からエタノール濃度30〜70重量%の含水エタノールを抜き出す抜き出し手段と、前記含水エタノールを改質反応させて水素を主成分とする改質ガスを製造する改質手段を備え、前記改質ガスを燃料として作動する燃料電池を設け、燃料電池へ送る燃料電池用の空気を改質器または燃料電池から出る廃熱によって300℃以上に予熱する空気予熱器を設け、前記燃料電池から出る廃熱で作動するスターリングエンジンを設け、空気予熱器の後段に廃ガス温度を熱源とした低沸点媒体を作動流体として稼動するランキン・サイクルを活用した低温廃熱回収発電装置を設け、前記スターリングエンジンから出る廃熱をさらに前記改質手段、空気予熱器、廃熱回収発電装置のうち少なくとも1つの熱源として利用することを特徴とするバイオマスエタノール製造装置。
- 前記改質手段が、前記燃料電池および/またはスターリングエンジンから出る廃熱により、前記含水エタノールを蒸発させる蒸発器であるとともに、前記含水エタノールを改質反応により改質する改質器であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のバイオマスエタノール製造装置。
