Claims (8)
- 複数の放電セルと、
1フレームを複数のサブフィールドに分割し、前記各サブフィールドにおける発光セルの比率を示すサブフィールド負荷率に応じて前記各サブフィールドにおけるアドレス期間及び維持期間を設定する制御部と、
前記制御部によって設定された前記アドレス期間中に前記複数の放電セルのうち発光セルを選択し、設定された前記維持期間中に前記発光セルを維持放電させる駆動部と
を含み、
前記複数の放電セルは複数の第1放電セルと複数の第2放電セルとを含み、
前記制御部は、前記アドレス期間を前記複数の第1放電セルに対する第1アドレス期間と前記複数の第2放電セルに対する第2アドレス期間とに分割し、前記第1アドレス期間と前記第2アドレス期間との間に前記維持期間のうち第1維持期間を設定し、前記第2アドレス期間の後に前記維持期間のうちの残りの第2維持期間を設定し、
前記サブフィールド負荷率に基づいて、前記第1維持期間を設定することを特徴とするプラズマ表示装置。 - 前記制御部は、
前記フレーム内に入力される映像信号に基づいて前記各サブフィールドのサブフィールド負荷率を計算するサブフィールド負荷率計算部と、
前記各サブフィールドのサブフィールド負荷率に基づいて、前記各サブフィールドにおける前記アドレス期間を設定し、前記設定されたアドレス期間に応じて前記維持期間を設定する期間設定部と
を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のプラズマ表示装置。 - 前記駆動部は、
前記アドレス期間中に前記発光セルにアドレスパルスを印加し、前記維持期間中に前記発光セルに維持放電パルスを印加し、
前記複数のサブフィールドのうちの第1サブフィールドにおけるアドレスパルスの幅を、前記第1サブフィールドよりもサブフィールド負荷率の大きい第2サブフィールドにおけるアドレスパルスの幅より狭くすることを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載のプラズマ表示装置。 - 前記駆動部は、
前記アドレス期間中に前記発光セルにアドレスパルスを印加し、前記維持期間中に前記発光セルに維持放電パルスを印加し、
前記複数のサブフィールドのうちの第1サブフィールドにおける維持放電パルスの幅を、前記第1サブフィールドよりもサブフィールド負荷率の大きい第2サブフィールドにおける維持放電パルスの幅より広くすることを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載のプラズマ表示装置。 - 複数の放電セルを含み、1フレームを複数のサブフィールドに分割し、前記複数のサブフィールドがそれぞれアドレス期間と維持期間とを含んでいるプラズマ表示装置の駆動方法であって、
前記1フレーム内に入力される映像信号に基づいて前記各サブフィールドにおけるサブフィールド負荷率を計算する段階と、
前記計算されたサブフィールド負荷率に基づいて前記各サブフィールドにおけるアドレス期間と維持期間のうちの少なくとも一つの期間を設定する段階と、
前記設定された各アドレス期間中に前記複数の放電セルのうち発光セルを選択する段階と、
前記設定された各維持期間中に当該サブフィールドの加重値に対応する回数だけ前記発光セルを維持放電させる段階と、
前記複数の放電セルは複数の第1放電セルと複数の第2放電セルとを含み、
前記アドレス期間を前記複数の第1放電セルに対する第1アドレス期間と前記複数の第2放電セルに対する第2アドレス期間とに分割する段階と、
前記第1アドレス期間と前記第2アドレス期間との間に前記維持期間のうち第1維持期間を設定し、前記第2アドレス期間の後に前記維持期間のうちの残りの第2維持期間を設定する段階と、
前記サブフィールド負荷率に基づいて、前記第1維持期間を設定する段階と
を含むことを特徴とするプラズマ表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記サブフィールド負荷率は、当該サブフィールドにおける放電セル全体の個数と発光セルの個数との比率から計算されることを特徴とする請求項5に記載のプラズマ表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記設定する段階は、
前記サブフィールド負荷率に基づいて、前記アドレス期間を設定する段階と、
前記設定されたアドレス期間に応じて前記維持期間を設定する段階と
を含むことを特徴とする請求項5または請求項6に記載のプラズマ表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記複数のサブフィールドのうち少なくとも一つのサブフィールドは、複数の放電セルのうちの少なくとも一つの放電セルを初期化するリセット期間を更に含み、
前記設定する段階は、
前記サブフィールド負荷率に基づいて、前記アドレス期間を設定する段階と、
前記設定されたアドレス期間に応じて前記維持期間及び前記リセット期間のうちの少なくとも一つの期間を設定する段階と
を含むことを特徴とする請求項5または請求項6に記載のプラズマ表示装置の駆動方法。
