本願は、2001年10月25日に出願された米国仮特許出願第60/243,195号から優先権を主張している。
本発明は、特に、医療分野で使用するために、材料を共に混合してその材料を他の器具に移動するシステムおよび方法に関する。
例えば、骨充填材料として使用するために、医療分野で、複数の材料(粉末材料を含むポリ(メタクリル酸メチル)骨セメント)を液状モノマーと共に混合する現在の方法および装置は、しばしば、十分に満足のいく結果をもたらさない。
医療品の様々な製造業者は、ポリ(メタクリル酸メチル)骨セメントを混合および/または分配する種々のシステムを開発し、製造し、そして供給しようと試みているものの(DePuy−PCT公報第WO97/21485号を参照;Immedica−PCT公報第WO99/37256を参照;およびStryker−米国特許第6,042,262号を参照)、このようなシステムは、しばしば、高価であり、複雑すぎ、高価および/または外部動力の付属品を必要とするか、または少量の骨充填材料を混合できない。これらの問題および他の問題があるために、特に、医療分野において、材料を混合し移動する改良されたシステムおよび方法が必要とされている。
より特定すれば、本発明は、以下の項目に関し得る。
(項目1)骨充填材料を混合する装置であって:上記骨充填材料の成分を未混合状態で受容するレセプタクル;上記成分を混合するために、上記レセプタクルに挿入可能である混合要素;上記混合要素用のアクチュエータであって、駆動部材および被駆動部材を含み、上記被駆動部材は、上記駆動部材と連結され、そして上記混合要素と取り外し可能に連結されているアクチュエータ、を備える、装置。
(項目2)上記混合要素が、パドルを含み、上記パドルが、回転に応答して上記成分を混合する、項目1に記載の装置。
(項目3) 上記駆動部材が、上記パドルを回転する、項目2に記載の装置。
(項目4) 上記混合要素が、上記成分の混合を促進する構造体を含む、項目1に記載の装置。
(項目5) 上記構造体が、複数のアパーチャを含む、項目4に記載の装置。
(項目6) さらに、プランジャーを含み、上記プランジャーが、上記レセプタクルから充填材料を分配するために、上記混合要素を取り外した後、上記レセプタクルに挿入可能である、項目1に記載の装置。
(項目7) さらに、上記レセプタクルを保持するスタンドを含む、項目1に記載の装置。
(項目8) さらに、ディスペンサーを含み、上記ディスペンサーが、上記充填材料を分配するために、上記レセプタクルに装着可能である、項目1に記載の装置。
(項目9) 上記ディスペンサーが、ノズルを含む、項目8に記載の装置。
(項目10) 上記ディスペンサーが、取付具を含み、上記取付具が、上記レセプタクルの遠位先端に組み込まれている、項目8に記載の装置。
(項目11) 上記ディスペンサーが、チューブを含み、上記チューブが、上記レセプタクルの遠位先端に組み込まれている、項目8に記載の装置。
(項目12) 上記アクチュエータが、ドライブトレインを含み、上記ドライブトレインが、駆動部材を被駆動部材に連結する、項目1に記載の装置。
(項目13) 上記ドライブトレインが、遊星歯車システムを含む、項目12に記載の装置。
(項目14) 上記アクチュエータが、連鎖を含み、上記連鎖が、上記駆動部材の回転を上記被駆動部材に与える、項目1に記載の装置。
(項目15) 上記駆動部材が、手動操作可能である、項目1に記載の装置。
これらの実施形態は、骨充填材料を混合することに関連して、本発明の特徴を具体化するシステムおよび方法を記載している。しかしながら、そのように記載したシステムおよび方法は、その応用において、骨充填材料の混合には限定されない。これらのシステムおよび方法は、多様な用途(医療分野の内外)で使用するように適用できる。
I.構成部品
図1Aは、構成部品を示し、これには、キット200として配列され、材料混合移動システムを形成するために、互いに共同して使用可能である。これらの構成部品の数および構造は、変えることができる。図1Aでは、キット200は、レセプタクル12(これは、混合する材料を受容し、混合後、それらの材料をスタンド14(これは、レセプタクル12を受容する)に移動または分配する);混合要素16(これは、これらの材料を混合するために、レセプタクル12に挿入できる);アクチュエータ18(これは、混合要素16を駆動する);プランジャー20(これは、混合した材料をレセプタクル12から押し出すために、レセプタクル12に挿入できる);分配要素22(これは、レセプタクル12から押し出された混合材料を分配する);および測定装置24(これは、混合するためにレセプタクル12に設置された材料を測定する)を含む。
図2Aで示すように、レセプタクル12は、近位末端30および遠位末端32を有する。レセプタクル12は、さらに、内部ボア37を有し、これは、望ましくは、近位末端30から遠位末端32へと伸長している。遠位末端32は、遠位先端34を備え、そこを通って、材料(例えば、骨充填材料)を分配し得る。
図1Aで示したシステムでは、スタンド14(図3を参照)は、混合中にて、レセプタクル12を支持する。スタンド14は、上面40および下面42を有する。上面40は、中心ネック44を有し、これは、レセプタクル12の遠位末端32を受容して確実に保持するサイズである。ネック44内の中心には、小チャンバ46があり、これは、レセプタクル12の遠位先端34を受容するサイズである。スタンド14の下面42は、平坦面を有し、これにより、スタンド14は、処置テーブルのような表面で、平らに置くことができる。
混合要素16は、様々な構成にでき、図7、8および9は、代表的な異なる構成を示している。使用中にて、混合要素16は、レセプタクル12内で回転して、このレセプタクル内に含有された材料を混合する。
アクチュエータ18(図4および5Aおよび5Bを参照)は、混合要素16を駆動する。望ましくは、アクチュエータ18は、DELRIN(登録商標)材料または透明または着色ナイロンから形成される。図4で示すように、アクチュエータ18は、手の平サイズの円筒形状である。
プランジャー20(図14および16を参照)は、レセプタクル12のボア37に嵌る。レセプタクル12内でプランジャー20を前進させると、望ましくは、レセプタクル12から空気が追い出されるだけでなく、レセプタクル12から材料が分配される。
図1Aで示したシステムでは、分配要素22は、ノズル100を含み、これは、レセプタクル12の遠位先端34に嵌るように適合される(図17を参照)。他の実施形態では、レセプタクル12の遠位先端34には、LUER(登録商標)取付具(図示せず)が組み込まれる。他の実施形態では、レセプタクル12の遠位先端34には、取付具(図示せず)が組み込まれ、この取付具は、5ccまたは10ccの注射器の本体に噛み合うように適合される。他の実施形態では、レセプタクル12の遠位先端34には、配管(図示せず)が組み込まれ、この配管は、5ccまたは10ccの注射器本体内に取り付けられるように適合される。
成分を混合するためにレセプタクルに設置する前に、これらの成分を測定するために、測定装置24(図1Aを参照)が使用される。測定装置24は、一定のサイズ(例えば、10ccの測定カップ)であり得、目盛りが付けられ得るか、および/または混合前に粒子を精選する篩を含み得る。
混合する成分をレセプタクル12に入れるか注ぎ易くするために、漏斗10が使用される(図1B)。
図1Aで示した実施形態では、レセプタクル12、スタンド14、混合要素16、アクチュエータ18、プランジャー20、ディスペンサー22および測定装置24だけでなく、混合する成分は、使用するために集められるか、必要に応じて、キット200から引き出される。医師または助手は、スタンド14(図10を参照)の上側40のネック44内に、レセプタクル12の遠位末端32を挿入する。望ましくは、レセプタクル12の遠位先端34は、スタンド14の上側40に位置している小チャンバ46内で保持され、望ましくは、遠位先端34を閉じて密封する。
何らかの理由のために、外科用材料からヒュームおよび/または蒸気が放出されることが望ましくない場合、医用材料(例えば、骨セメント)を調製および/または送達するために、クローズド混合および移動システムを使用することが有利であり得る。例えば、PMMA骨セメントの液状モノマー成分から生じるヒュームおよび/または蒸気は、非常に不快な臭いがあり得、これらのヒュームを吸入すると、患者だけでなく手術室にいる様々な人たちに対して、著しい健康上のリスクをもたらし得る。

Claims (1)
- 骨充填材料を混合する装置であって:
該骨充填材料の成分を未混合状態で受容するレセプタクル(12)であって、内部の周囲を取り囲む側壁を有し、近位末端、遠位末端、及び前記遠位末端に隣接し前記側壁上に形成された前記レセプタクルの内部と連通する分配出口(34b)を含む、レセプタクル;
該成分を混合するために、該レセプタクルに挿入可能である混合要素;
該混合要素用のアクチュエータであって、駆動部材および被駆動部材を含み、該被駆動部材は、該駆動部材と連結され、そして該混合要素と取り外し可能に連結されているアクチュエータ;
前記レセプタクル内に滑らせることができるように取り付けられる第1のシール(450);
気密様式で前記レセプタクルに係合する第2のシール(448);および
前記第1のシール(450)を前進させて混合された前記成分を前記分配出口(34b)から押し出すプランジャ(460)
を備え、前記第1のシール(450)により、空気およびモノマーのヒュームの少なくとも一方が、前記レセプタクルの前記第1のシールと前記第2のシールとの間の領域内へ流れることができる、装置。
