体的には、このユニフォミティ補正部24は、例えば図3(A),(B)に示したような、互いに異なる2つの輝度情報Y1の値に対応する2つ補正テーブル(ここでは、輝度情報Y1の最小値および最大値に対応する2つの補正テーブルA,B)と、例えば図4に示したような、輝度情報Y1の値と後述する補正テーブルA,Bの混合比α,βとの値を対応付けたルックアップテーブル(LUT)Lと、を有しており、これら補正テーブルA,BおよびルックアップテーブルLを用いることにより、図3に示したように、映像信号D1に基づく表示領域を分割してなる複数の画素領域3(例えば、複数の単位表示画素により構成されている)ごとに、映像信号の補正(ユニフォミティ補正)を行うようになっている。また、ここでは、2つの補正テーブルA,BやルックアップテーブルLがそれぞれ、画素領域3ごとの映像信号D1の輝度レベル(例えば、12段階の輝度レベル)に対応して、複数セット(ここでは、12セット)のテーブルA1〜A12,B1〜B12,L1〜L12により構成されると共に、ルックアップテーブルL内の混合比α,βもまた、輝度情報Y1の輝度レベル(例えば、9段階の輝度レベル)に応じて変化するようになっている。

Claims (7)
- 光源と、
前記光源から発せられた光を映像信号に基づいて変調する空間光変調素子と、
前記空間光変調素子の前段または後段に配置され、前記映像信号における輝度情報に基づいて、入射光の角度による強度分布を変化させる強度分布調整手段と、
前記強度分布調整手段によって強度分布を変化させる際の設定値に対応する設定輝度情報を用いて前記映像信号の補正を行い、補正後の映像信号を前記空間光変調素子へ供給する補正手段と
を備え、
前記補正手段は、
前記設定輝度情報の輝度レベルのうちの一部の輝度レベルにおける前記入射光の角度による強度分布に対応して設けられ、各々が、前記映像信号の輝度レベルにそれぞれ対応した複数シートのテーブルにより構成された複数の補正テーブルを有し、
それらの複数の補正テーブル内の各補正値を、前記設定輝度情報の輝度レベルに応じて規定されると共に前記映像信号の輝度レベルに応じて変化するように構成された混合比によって混合することにより、前記設定輝度情報の輝度レベルの変化に対して補正値が非線形に変化するようになされた各輝度レベルごとの混合補正値を生成し、その混合補正値を用いて前記映像信号の補正を行う
表示装置。 - 前記補正手段は、前記映像信号に基づく表示領域を複数に分割してなる各画素領域ごとに、対応する混合補正値を用いて補正を行う
請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記映像信号における輝度情報が、表示領域における輝度ヒストグラム分布である
請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記強度分布調整手段が、入射光を絞るための可変絞りである
請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記強度分布調整手段が、光学ズーム機能を有するズームレンズである
請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記空間光変調素子が液晶素子であり、液晶表示装置として構成されている
請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記空間光変調素子により変調された光をスクリーンに投射する投射手段を備え、投射型表示装置として構成されている
