Claims (7)
- 明るい状態と暗い状態とで作動できるシングルギャップの半透過半反射TN型液晶ディスプレイであって、
第1基板、
前記第1基板に対向して配置された第2基板、
前記第1基板に配置された上側の偏光板、
前記第1基板の前記第2基板に対向する面に配置された透明な上電極、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間に配置され、複数の画素を有し、前記各画素は透過域と反射域とを有し、前記透過域では、前記第2基板から入射した光線は前記第1基板より離れ、前記反射域では、前記第1基板から入射した光線は反射され、前記第1基板より離れる液晶層、
前記第2基板の前記第1基板に対向する面に配置された、前記透過域の前記液晶層に第1電圧が供給される透過型電極、
前記第2基板の前記第1基板に対向する面に配置された、前記反射域の前記液晶層に前記第1電圧より小さい第2電圧が供給される反射型電極、および
前記反射域での前記上電極を覆い、前記透過域での前記上電極を覆わない誘電体層を含み、
前記反射型電極と前記透過型電極とは同じ電圧源に接続され、
前記明るい状態で作動されている時、前記液晶層の液晶分子の配向は前記上電極、前記反射型電極および前記透過型電極に平行になり、
前記暗い状態で作動されている時、前記透過域の液晶層の液晶分子は前記第1電圧により前記上電極と前記透過型電極に垂直に配向され、前記反射域の液晶層の液晶分子は、前記誘電体層によって前記第1電圧より小さい第2電圧により傾斜されるシングルギャップの半透過半反射TN型液晶ディスプレイ。 - 前記第2基板の上に配置された下側の偏光板を更に含む請求項1に記載のシングルギャップの半透過半反射TN型液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記上側の偏光板と前記上電極との間に配置される1/2波長板を更に含む請求項1に記載のシングルギャップの半透過半反射TN型液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記第2基板の上に配置された下側の偏光板を更に含む請求項3に記載のシングルギャップの半透過半反射TN型液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記下側の偏光板と前記透過型電極との間に配置される調節板を更に含む請求項2に記載のシングルギャップの半透過半反射TN型液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記調節板は単軸方向薄膜、双軸方向薄膜、若しくは液晶薄膜である請求項5に記載のシングルギャップの半透過半反射TN型液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記第1電圧は、前記第2電圧の約2倍であることにより、前記反射域の前記液晶層は、前記暗い状態で作動されているときに1/4波長板の効果と同じである、請求項1に記載のシングルギャップの半透過半反射TN型液晶ディスプレイ。
