Description
上記多数の光学素子が装着され反射面を有する面光源と、
上記面光源の前方側に配置された光学シートと、
上記面光源と光学シートとの間に配置され上記光学素子からの光入射角に応じてその反射率が異なる反射層と、を設けて上記光学素子から出力された光を混合するよう構成されることを特徴とする光混合性能が向上されたバックライトユニットを提供する。
本発明による光混合性能が向上されたバックライトユニット1は、図3に図示された通り、多数の光学素子10が装着され反射面12が備えられた面光源20を有する。
即ち、光学素子10から出射された光は、その前方側の反射層32に対して入射角(θ)を形成しながら進入する。上記において入射角(θ)は、上記反射層32の平面に対して垂直の方向と上記光学素子10から出射された光が形成される角度である。
本発明と従来技術の比較実験は、コンピューター模擬実験(Computer Simulation)を通じて成されたものであって、本実験において使用されたソフトウェアはSPEOS(Ray Tracing Software)であった。
図8aに図示された写真とグラフは、反射層を有しない従来の構造を図示したものであって、光学素子10の直上部側に光量が集中され、光学素子10との間の空間から出力される光量は少ないもので、その結果色むらが発生し均一な白色光を出力できないものであった。

Claims (4)
- 多数の光学素子から出力された光を光源として使用するバックライトユニット(BLU)において、
前記多数の光学素子が装着され反射面を有する面光源と、
前記面光源の前方側に配置された光学シートと、
前記光学素子の側面にそれぞれ備えられる垂直構造の側壁と、前記側壁により保持され、前記光学素子の上部側に所定の高さで隔離されて配置され前記光学素子を内部に収容するように水平構造の上部面を形成する蓋と、
前記面光源と光学シートとの間に配置され前記光学素子からの光入射角に応じてその反射率が異なる反射層と、を設け、
前記蓋は透明材料からなり、表面に前記反射層を被覆して前記光学素子から出力された光を混合するよう構成されることを特徴とするバックライトユニット。 - 前記光学シートは、PMMA(Poly Methylmethacrylate)シートから成り、前記反射層は前記光学シートに被覆形成されたものであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のバックライトユニット。
- 前記反射層は、入射角が小さいほど光線の反射率は高くなり、透過率は少なくなることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載のバックライトユニット。
- 前記反射層は、前記光学素子からの光入射角が0°の場合90%を反射し10%を透過させ、60°の場合30%を反射し70%を透過させ、90°の場合5%を反射し95%を透過させることを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれかに記載のバックライトユニット。
