Description
高純度の水晶粉(シリカ粉)を酸水素火炎にて溶融しながら垂直方向に堆積させて、天然石英ガラスインゴットを作製した。そして、外周を研削して、棒状の石英ガラス素材を得た。
また、上記において、通常の外径公差を±0.5mmとした場合、全延伸長に対する良品部分の歩留まりは、100%であった。
この本発明例に係る石英ガラス棒の製造方法に対して、特許文献1に記載された鉛直遠心法に従って、外径50.15mmを目標にして、石英ガラス棒に加工した。
また、上記において、通常の外径公差を±0.5mmとした場合、全延伸長に対する良品部分の歩留まりは、68%であった。

Claims (5)
- 棒状の石英ガラス素材を回転させつつ片端から順次加熱軟化させて軸方向に移動させ、その加熱軟化部分を成形延伸ダイスに送り込むとともに、成形延伸された石英ガラス棒を引き抜くことにより石英ガラス棒を製造する方法であって、石英ガラス棒の引き抜き速度は一定の速度とした状態で、石英ガラス素材の送り込み速度を調整することにより石英ガラス棒の外径を制御することを特徴とする石英ガラス棒の製造方法。
- 棒状の石英ガラス素材の成形状態の観察結果を用いて石英ガラス素材の送り込み速度を調整することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の石英ガラス棒の製造方法。
- 入口側開口部、延伸部および孔部を備える成形延伸ダイスを用い、棒状の石英ガラス素材の加熱軟化部分を、その外径を一旦大きくした後、入口側開口部に接触させ、延伸部で延伸させ、孔部で冷却させることを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の石英ガラス棒の製造方法。
- 成形延伸ダイスの内壁の軸方向の断面形状が、成形延伸ダイスの延伸部において曲線である成形延伸ダイスを用いることを特徴とする、請求項1から3までのいずれかに記載の石英ガラス棒の製造方法。
- 棒状の石英ガラス素材を回転可能な状態で把持するとともに軸方向に移動させるチャックと、棒状の石英ガラス素材を加熱するための加熱手段と、棒状の石英ガラス素材の加熱軟化部分を圧入させ所定の形状に成形するための、入口側開口部、延伸部および孔部を備える成形延伸ダイスと、成形後の石英ガラス棒を回転可能な状態で把持するとともに軸方向に移動させるチャックとを有する石英ガラス棒の製造装置であって、成形延伸ダイスの内壁の軸方向の断面形状が延伸部において曲線であり、棒状の石英ガラス素材の加熱軟化部分を、その外径を一旦大きくした後、入口側開口部に接触させ、延伸部で延伸させ、孔部で冷却させることを特徴とする石英ガラス棒の製造装置。
