Description
【0001】

[0003]
A rhodamine compound is a salt compound formed from a cation and an anion that is a dye mother nucleus. As anions, inorganic anions such as a chlorine anion and a perchlorate anion are generally used. The heat resistance and heat resistance were insufficient. Moreover, although the rhodamine compound using the phenylsulfonic acid derivative anion and the tetraaryl boron anion has been reported, it was not fully satisfactory about heat resistance (refer patent document 1).
[0004]
On the other hand, in recent years, research for practical application of organic EL elements has been actively conducted. Since organic EL elements can achieve high current density at a constant voltage, they are expected to achieve higher light emission luminance and light emission efficiency than inorganic EL elements or LEDs. Application to panel displays is expected. A green monochrome organic EL display for use in vehicles has already been commercialized by Pioneer in November 1997. In the future, in order to meet the diversifying needs of society, there is an urgent need to put into practical use an organic multicolor EL display that has long-term stability and high-speed response and can display multicolor or high-definition full-color display. .
[0005]
As an example of a method for multi-coloring or full-coloring an organic EL display, a color using a fluorescent material that absorbs light in an emission region of an organic EL element and performs wavelength distribution conversion to emit fluorescence in a visible light region as a filter Conversion methods have been studied (see Patent Documents 2 and 3). Since the light emission color of the organic EL element is not limited to white, an organic EL element with higher luminance can be applied as a light source. In a color conversion method using a blue light emitting organic EL element, blue light is converted into green light and Wavelength conversion to red light. In particular, rhodamine compounds have been studied as a dye for obtaining red light by wavelength conversion. If a fluorescent dye conversion film containing such a fluorescent dye is patterned with high definition, a full-color light-emitting display can be constructed even using weak energy rays such as near ultraviolet light or visible light of an organic EL element.
[0006]
An important practical issue as a color display is to provide a color conversion filter having high color conversion efficiency in addition to long-term stability including fine color display function and color reproducibility. . In particular, the color conversion efficiency from blue or blue-green to red is not satisfactory, and active research is being conducted in various places regarding its improvement. The main problem in improving the long-term stability of the color conversion filter is the decomposition of the color conversion dye. Instead of the singlet excited state color conversion dye emitting fluorescence and transitioning to the ground state, A route is known in which the dye is decomposed via a triplet excited state. Therefore, even if the color conversion efficiency is optimized in the initial stage, the color conversion efficiency is drastically lowered as it is used. Regarding this problem, it has been studied to mix a quencher for causing a color conversion dye in a triplet excited state to transition to a ground state without causing a decomposition reaction (see Patent Document 4). Furthermore, the main problem in improving the color conversion efficiency of the color conversion filter is that the content of the color conversion pigment cannot be increased. It is known that when the content of the color conversion dye is increased, the color conversion efficiency rapidly decreases due to so-called concentration quenching in which the fluorescence is remarkably reduced by the association of the dye molecules. Regarding this problem, for example, it has been studied to prevent association of rhodamine dyes by introducing a bulky substituent into the rhodamine mother nucleus (see Patent Documents 5 to 7).

[0046]
The above rhodamine compound of the present invention is suitable for use as an orange-red purple pigment that absorbs light in the range of 500 nm to 600 nm. For example, it may be used as a dye for optical recording layers such as DVD-R, and is a liquid crystal display (LCD), plasma display panel (PDP), electroluminescence display (ELD), cathode tube display (CRT), fluorescent display tube. The pigment may be used as a pigment for an optical filter used in an image display device such as a field emission display, or may be used as a pigment for a color toner, inkjet ink, or paint. The rhodamine compound of the present invention can also be used as a spectral sensitizing dye for silver salt photography or as a photoreactive sensitizer.
[0047]
Furthermore, the rhodamine compound of the present invention is also useful as a color conversion pigment that emits light having a longer wavelength by converting the wavelength distribution of light in the range of 500 to 600 nm. Further, when the anion component is an aminobenzenesulfonic acid derivative having steric hindrance, that is, a substituent (—NR9R10And / or R11) Also functions as a steric hindrance group, it can also function as a group that inhibits association between dyes to prevent concentration quenching. In this case, it is considered that the distance between the rhodamine dye mother nuclei increases due to steric hindrance of the anion component, thereby preventing concentration quenching when the dye is added at a high concentration. This is because the anion component is always present in the vicinity of the rhodamine dye mother nucleus due to electrostatic attraction, thereby increasing the space occupied by the entire rhodamine dye. In addition, since the anion component having steric hindrance prevents other molecules from approaching the rhodamine dye mother nucleus, it facilitates the transition of the rhodamine dye mother nucleus in the triplet excited state to the ground state. It is thought to prevent reaction with.

The middle / high refractive index layer can be formed using a polymer binder having a relatively high refractive index. Examples of high refractive index polymers include polystyrene, styrene copolymers, polycarbonate, melamine resins, phenolic resins, epoxy resins, and polyurethanes obtained by reaction of cyclic (alicyclic or aromatic) isocyanates with polyols. It is. Polymers having other cyclic (aromatic, heterocyclic, alicyclic) groups and polymers having a halogen atom other than fluorine as a substituent also have a high refractive index. The color conversion filter of the fifth embodiment of the present invention is a modification of the optical filter of the fourth embodiment, and includes a transparent substrate and one or more color conversion layers, and at least one of the color conversion layers is the first. The rhodamine compound of 1 embodiment and a binder are included. The color conversion filter of the present embodiment may further include a color conversion layer that emits light in a specific wavelength region by converting the wavelength distribution of light from the light emitting element, such as a blue conversion layer and a green conversion layer. When a color conversion layer is used in the present embodiment, a color filter layer (light absorption layer) is provided on the output side of the color conversion layer for the purpose of improving the color purity of the light subjected to wavelength distribution conversion by the color conversion layer. May be laminated. A blue color filter layer, a green color filter layer, a red color filter layer, or the like that transmits light in a specific wavelength range can be provided in accordance with the light output from the color conversion layer.

A color conversion filter for a multicolor display can be formed by arranging the RGB color conversion layer shown in FIG. 2 as a set of pixels and arranging a plurality of pixels on the
[0088]
Alternatively, a so-called area color display color conversion filter may be formed by providing a color conversion layer different from other areas only in a specific area. Furthermore, a plurality of types of color conversion layers may be provided according to patterns, signs, characters, marks, etc., and displayed. Alternatively, a single color that cannot be achieved by a single color conversion layer may be displayed by using two types of color conversion layers arranged at an appropriate area ratio divided into minute areas.
[0089]
In the example of FIG. 2, a case where a color conversion layer for each color of RGB is provided is shown. However, when a light emitting element that emits blue to blue-green light is used as a light source, the color conversion layer for blue is not used. Only the color filter layer may be used. Further, if the light emission of the light source sufficiently includes light in the green region, the light from the light source may be output only through the green filter without using the color conversion layer for green.
[0090]
The color conversion light-emitting device of the 6th Embodiment of this invention has a light emission part (light source) and a color conversion part. As the color conversion unit, the above-described color conversion filter or color conversion layer can be used. As the light emitting unit, any light source that emits light in the near ultraviolet to visible range, preferably blue to blue-green can be used. Examples of such light sources include EL light emitting elements, plasma light emitting elements, cold cathode fluorescent lamps, discharge lamps (high pressure or ultra high pressure mercury lamps), light emitting diodes (LEDs) and the like. When the optical filter shown in FIG. 1 (without a color filter layer) is used as the color conversion unit, the light emitting unit may be disposed on either side of the optical filter. When the color conversion filter having the color filter layer 30 shown in FIG. 2 is used as the color conversion unit, the light emitting unit is disposed on the color conversion layer 20 side. Alternatively, when the color conversion layer itself is used as the color conversion unit, the color conversion layer may be directly laminated on the surface of the light source.
[0091]
As an example of the color conversion light-emitting device of the present invention, FIG. 3 shows a top emission type organic EL display formed by bonding the color conversion filter shown in FIG. An organic EL element including a

2.30 × 10 each of rhodamine compound A, rhodamine compound B, comparative compound 1 (rhodamine B), comparative compound 2 (rhodamine B obtained by salt exchange of chloride ion with p-toluenesulfonic acid ion)-5A coating solution was prepared by mixing 1.0 g of a mole / g methanol solution and 3.0 g of a 5 mass% ethyl methyl ketone solution of polyvinyl butyral (Denkabutyral # 5000-A; manufactured by Denki Kagaku Kogyo Co., Ltd.). This coating solution was spin-coated on a 20 × 20 mm glass plate at 1500 rpm for 60 seconds and dried at 60 ° C. for 30 minutes to prepare a test piece having a film layer containing a rhodamine compound. The obtained test piece was preserve | saved at 120 degreeC in the hot-air circulation type dryer, and UV absorption spectrum was measured 10 hours afterward. The ratio of the absorbance after heating to the absorbance at λmax of the UV absorption spectrum before heat storage was evaluated as the dye residual ratio. The results are shown in Table 1.
[0111]
[Table 1]
[0112]
(Example 2, comparative example 2)
Test pieces were prepared in the same manner as in Example 1 for each of Rhodamine Compound F, Comparative Compound 3 (Rhodamine 6G), and Comparative Compound 4 (Rhodamine 6G in which chloride ions were salt-exchanged with p-toluenesulfonic acid ions). The obtained test piece was preserve | saved at 120 degreeC in the hot-air circulation type dryer, and the UV absorption spectrum was measured 60 hours afterward. The absorbance after heating with respect to the absorbance at λmax of the UV absorption spectrum before heat storage was evaluated as the dye residual ratio. The results are shown in Table 2.

(Example 5)
In 1 g of propylene glycol monoethyl acetate (PGEMA) solvent, 1 g of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and rhodamine compound C (manufactured by Asahi Denka Kogyo Co., Ltd., TY-166) of 1.4 mg (0.89 mg (2 micromol)) Rhodamine B mother nuclei) were dissolved. This solution was applied onto Corning glass (50 × 50 × 1.0 mm) by a spin coating method to obtain a color conversion filter having a color conversion layer with a thickness of 10 μm.
[0120]
(Comparative Example 3)
Example 1 was repeated except that 0.96 mg (2 μmol) of rhodamine B was used in place of 1.4 mg of rhodamine compound C to obtain a color conversion filter.
[0121]
In Example 5 and Comparative Example 3, three samples were produced and evaluated. A light source was disposed on the color conversion layer side of the color conversion filter and irradiated with light having a wavelength of 450 nm to 510 nm. Here, the intensity of the red component having a wavelength of 610 nm of the light emitted through the color conversion filter was measured. The evaluation results of relative values with the red component intensity of Comparative Example 3 as 100 are summarized in Table 6 as the initial intensity.
[0122]
Next, after performing 1000 hours of continuous irradiation using the light source, the intensity of the red component having a wavelength of 610 nm was measured again. For each of Example 5 and Comparative Example 3, evaluation results of relative values with the red component intensity before continuous irradiation as 100 are summarized in Table 6 as durability.
[0123]
[Table 6]
[0124]
As can be seen from Table 6, Example 5 using the rhodamine compound C of the present invention showed a conversion efficiency almost equal to that of Comparative Example 3 using Rhodamine B in the initial stage, and was superior in durability to Comparative Example 3. Showed sex. This result shows that the rhodamine compound of the present invention is effective in realizing excellent color conversion efficiency and suppressing the photolysis of the color conversion dye.
[0125]
