本発明の入浴剤は、浴槽に投入した場合に乳濁する、透明溶液の性状であって、界面活性剤として、ポリオキシエチレン脂肪酸グリセリルを含有することを特徴とする。かかるポリオキシエチレン脂肪酸グリセリルは、化粧料の分野に於いては非イオン界面活性剤として汎用されている成分であり、その入手は様々な市販品が存するため極めて容易である。本発明の入浴剤に使用するポリオキシエチレン脂肪酸グリセリルとしては、それを構成する脂肪酸残基が炭素数6〜12の中鎖長の飽和直鎖のもの、或いは、炭素数が12〜24であって、分岐構造を有するものであることが好ましい。又、ポリオキシエチレン基の平均付加モル数は6〜30が好ましい。特に好ましいものとしては、ポリオキシエチレン(7)(カプリン酸・カプリル酸)グリセリル、ポリオキシエチレン(20)モノイソステアリン酸グリセリル、ポリオキシエチレン(20)トリイソステアリン酸グリセリルなどが例示出来る。ポリオキシエチレン脂肪酸グリセリル、好ましくはポリオキシエチレン中鎖脂肪酸グリセリル乃至はポリオキシエチレン分岐脂肪酸グリセリルは、液状で乳化、再乳化性に優れる為、バスタブ中で形成した乳化物の安定性が向上する。特に本発明の乳濁系の入浴剤に精油成分を用いた場合に、油滴の分散性に優れるため、追い炊きしても、湯あかなどを生じにくい。又、精油成分の保香効果にも優れる。本発明の入浴剤に於けるポリオキシエチレン脂肪酸グリセリルの好ましい含有量は、総量で5〜20重量%であり、更に好ましくは10〜15重量%である。これは、少なすぎると、バスタブに投入し形成した乳化物の安定性が損なわれる場合が存し、多すぎると精油成分などを用いた場合に、香りのたちが阻害される場合が存するためである。
