Claims (28)
- 走査信号が供給される複数の走査線、データ信号が供給される複数のデータ線、補償電源が供給される複数の補償電源線、及び複数の第1電源線によって画定された領域に設けられる複数の画素を含み、
前記各画素は、
一フレームに含まれた複数の各サブフレームの期間、前記補償電源と前記データ信号に対応する電流を出力する画素回路と、
前記画素回路から出力される電流に対応して発光する発光素子と、を具備し、
前記データ信号は、前記サブフレームに対応するi(ただし、iは正の定数)ビットのデジタルデータ信号であり、前記補償電源のレベルは、前記デジタルデータ信号の上位ビットに行くほど高くなることを特徴とする発光表示装置。 - 前記画素回路は、
前記補償電源と前記データ信号の電圧差に対応する電流を出力することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記各画素は、
前記サブフレームごとに前記発光素子が発光する明るさの和によって、所望の階調を表示することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記各第1電源線は、
前記データ線と平行に延びていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記各補償電源線は、
前記走査線と平行に延びていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記第1電源線に供給される第1電源と異なる第2電源を前記発光素子のカソード電極に供給するための第2電源線をさらに具備することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発光表示装置。
- 前記画素回路は、
現在走査線に供給される走査信号によって制御されて、前記データ線に供給された前記データ信号を出力する第1トランジスタと、
自身のゲートソース間の電圧によって前記第1電源線から前記発光素子に供給される電流量を制御する第2トランジスタと、
直前走査線に供給される走査信号によって制御されて、前記第1電源線に供給される第1電源と前記補償電源との間の補償電圧を格納する補償回路と、
前記第1トランジスタからのデータ信号及び前記補償電圧に対応する電圧と前記第1電源との間の電圧を格納し、格納された電圧によって前記第2トランジスタのゲートソース間の電圧を調節するキャパシタと、を具備することを特徴とする請求項6に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記補償回路は、
前記第2トランジスタのゲート電極である第1ノードと前記第1トランジスタの出力端である第2ノードとの間に電気的に接続される補償用キャパシタと、
前記直前走査線によって制御されて前記第1ノードと前記第1電源線との間に位置される第3トランジスタと、
前記直前走査線によって制御されて前記第2ノードと前記補償電源線との間に位置される第4トランジスタと、を具備することを特徴とする請求項7に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記補償電源は、
前記直前走査信号に同期するように前記補償電源線に供給されることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の発光表示装置。 - 複数の走査線、複数のデータ線、複数の第1電源線、及び複数の補償電源線によって画定された領域に設けられて、前記補償電源線に供給される補償電源と前記データ線に供給されるデータ信号に対応する電流の供給を前記第1電源線から受けて発光する複数の画素を含む画像表示部と、
前記走査線に走査信号を供給するための走査駆動部と、
前記データ線にデータ信号を供給するためのデータ駆動部と、
一フレームの各サブフレームに対応する補償電源を前記複数の補償電源線に供給するための補償電源供給部と、
前記第1電源線に第1電源を供給するための第1電源供給部と、を具備することを特徴とする発光表示装置。 - 前記各画素は、
前記補償電源と前記データ信号の電圧差に対応する電流の供給を前記第1電源から受けて発光することを特徴とする請求項10に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記各画素は、
前記サブフレームごとに発光する明るさの和によって、所望の階調を表示することを特徴とする請求項10に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記データ信号は、
前記サブフレームに対応するi(ただし、iは正の定数)ビットのデジタルデータ信号であることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記補償電源のレベルは、
前記デジタルデータ信号の上位ビットに行くほど高くなることを特徴とする請求項13に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記各第1電源線は、
前記データ線と平行に延びていることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記各補償電源線は、
前記走査線と平行に延びていることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記補償電源供給部は、
前記各サブフレームに対応する互いに異なる補償電源を発生する補償電源発生部と、
前記各サブフレームに対応する前記補償電源を選択するための選択信号を発生するシフトレジスタ部と、
前記選択信号によって前記補償電源発生部から供給される前記互いに異なる補償電源のうちいずれか一つを選択して前記複数の補償電源線に順次供給する補償電源選択部と、を具備することを特徴とする請求項10に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記各画素に接続された第2電源線に前記第1電源と異なる第2電源を供給するための第2電源供給部をさらに具備することを特徴とする請求項10に記載の発光表示装置。
- 前記各画素は、
前記各サブフレームに対応する前記補償電源と前記データ信号とに対応する電流を前記第1電源から出力する画素回路と、
前記画素回路から出力される電流によって発光する発光素子と、を具備することを特徴とする請求項10に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記画素回路は、
現在走査線に供給される走査信号によって制御されて、前記データ線に供給された前記データ信号を出力する第1トランジスタと、
自身のゲートソース間の電圧によって前記第1電源から前記電流を前記発光素子に供給する第2トランジスタと、
直前走査線に供給される走査信号によって制御されて、前記補償電源と前記第1電源との間の補償電圧を格納する補償回路と、
前記第1トランジスタからのデータ信号及び前記補償電圧に対応する電圧と前記第1電源との間の電圧を格納し、格納された電圧によって前記第2トランジスタのゲートソース間の電圧を調節するキャパシタと、を具備することを特徴とする請求項19に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記補償回路は、
前記第2トランジスタのゲート電極である第1ノードと前記第1トランジスタの出力端である第2ノードとの間に電気的に接続される補償用キャパシタと、
前記直前走査線によって制御されて前記第1ノードと前記第1電源線との間に電気的に接続される第3トランジスタと、
前記直前走査線によって制御されて前記第2ノードと前記補償電源線との間に電気的に接続される第4トランジスタと、を具備することを特徴とする請求項20に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記補償電源は、
前記直前走査信号に同期するように前記補償電源線に供給されることを特徴とする請求項20に記載の発光表示装置。 - 複数の走査線、複数のデータ線、複数の第1電源線、及び複数の補償電源線によって画定された領域に設けられる複数の画素を含む発光表示装置の駆動方法において、
一フレームに含まれた複数のサブフレーム期間ごとに互いに異なる電圧レベルを持つ補償電源を前記補償電源線に供給する段階と、
前記第1電源線に供給される第1電源と前記補償電源との間の補償電圧を前記画素に含まれた第1キャパシタに格納する段階と、
前記データ線にデータ信号を供給する段階と、
前記補償電圧及び前記データ信号に対応する電圧と前記第1電源との間の電圧を前記画素に含まれた第2キャパシタに格納する段階と、
前記第2キャパシタに格納された電圧に対応する電流を発光素子に供給する段階と、を含むことを特徴とする発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記発光素子は、
前記補償電源と前記データ信号の電圧差に対応する電流の供給を前記第1電源から受けて発光することを特徴とする請求項23に記載の発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記各画素は、
前記サブフレームごとに前記発光素子が発光する明るさの和によって、所望の階調を表示することを特徴とする請求項23に記載の発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記データ信号は、
