Description
PS樹脂(重量平均分子量(Mw)=152,000;多分散度(Mw/Mn)=3.4;z−平均分子量(Mz)=320,000)100重量部、ハロイサイトクレイ(Plainsman Company製)0.7重量部、ステアリン酸バリウム及びPEからなる添加剤0.5重量部を含むドライブレンドを製造する。このドライブレンドを、押出発泡体ラインの押出機中に供給し、この押出機中で240℃においてPS樹脂、クレイ、ステアリン酸バリウム及びPEを溶融ブレンドする。PS 100重量部当り4.7重量部の(即ち、PS重量当り4.7pphの)、発泡剤組成物重量当りCO2 85重量%及び水15重量%からなる発泡剤組成物を添加して、発泡性ポリマー組成物を形成する。この発泡剤組成物は、17.4MPaの圧力において添加する。発泡性ポリマー組成物を120℃の温度に冷却し、9.8MPaのダイ圧力を用いてスリットダイを通して大気圧中に押出し、ポリテトラフルオロエチレンが塗布された平行な成形板(又はローラー)を用いて発泡体ボードに成形する。発泡性ポリマー組成物は大気圧において膨張して、二峰性セルサイズ分布を有する多峰性ポリマー発泡体(Ex1)を形成する。
PS(Mw=145,000;Mw/Mn=3.3;Mz=320,000)100重量部、ステアリン酸バリウム、PE及び銅フタロシアニン・カラーコンセントレート(PS中銅フタロシアン12重量%)からなる追加添加剤0.6重量部及びハロイサイトクレイ(Plainsman Company)0.7重量部を2インチ(5.1cm)押出機中に供給する。これらの成分を220℃において溶融ブレンドして、ポリマー組成物を形成する。ポリマー組成物をミキサー中に移し、11MPaにおいてPS重量当り7.1pphの発泡剤組成物を添加して、発泡性ポリマー組成物を形成する。この発泡剤組成物は、CO2 50重量%、水8重量%、n−ブタン27重量%及びイソブタン15重量%からなる(重量%の値は、総発泡剤組成物重量を基準とする)。この発泡性ポリマー組成物を120℃に冷却し、8.1MPaのダイ圧力においてスリットダイを通して大気圧に押出する。押出された発泡性ポリマー組成物を、平行なポリテトラフルオロエチレン塗布成形板(又はローラー)を用いて発泡体ボードに成形して、Ex2を得る。
発泡剤組成物の重量当りCO2 88重量%及び水12重量%からなる、PS重量当り5.6pphの発泡剤組成物を用いた以外は、Ex2を製造する方法を繰り返すことによって、Ex3を製造する。14.9MPaにおいて発泡剤を添加し、9.6MPaのダイ圧力を用いる。重量部はPS重量を基準として、重量%は発泡剤組成物重量を基準にして測定する。
Ex2を製造する方法を繰り返すことによってEx4を製造する。但し、(1)CO2 14重量%、水10重量%、イソブタン56重量%及びエタノール21重量%(重量%は発泡剤組成物重量を基準とする)からなる、PS重量当り7.2pphの発泡剤組成物を用い;且つ(2)200,000のMw及び2.3の多分散度を有するPSを用いる。12.5MPaにおいて発泡剤を添加し、5.3MPaのダイ圧力を用いる。
Ex4と同様にしてEx5を製造する。但し、(1)CO2 19重量%、水10重量%、イソブタン50重量%及びエタノール21重量%からなる、PS重量当り7pphの発泡剤組成物を用い;且つ(2)カーボンブラック(SEVACARB(商標)N990;SEVACARBはColumbian Chemicalsの商標である)5重量部を含ませる。重量部はPSの重量部を基準とし、重量%は発泡剤組成物重量を基準とする。12.7MPaの圧力において発泡剤を添加し、5.8MPaのダイ圧力を用いる。
Ex1と同様にして、Ex6を製造する。但し、Mw 170,000、多分散度3.2を有し、且つヘキサブロモシクロドデカン(HBCD)3重量部、酸性酸化マグネシウム0.1重量部並びにステアリン酸バリウム、着色剤及びPEからなる添加剤0.7重量部を含むポリマーブレンドを用いる。
Ex2と同様にしてEx7を製造する。但し、表IIの発泡剤組成物を用いて発泡体(vi)〜(x)を製造する。これらの発泡体は全て多峰性セルサイズ分布を有する。表II中において、「ポリマー100重量部当り重量部」と「pph」は同義である。
Claims (19)
- 内部に限定された多数のセルを有するポリマーと前記ポリマー内に分散された少なくとも1種の、膨潤せずに水を吸収する吸収性クレイとを含んでなるポリマー発泡体であって、前記発泡体が二峰性セルサイズ分布を有し且つ前記吸収性クレイがベントナイトを含む場合には、ポリマー100重量部当り、0.2重量部未満のベントナイトを含みそして前記吸収性クレイがカオリナイト群の2層鉱物からなる群より選ばれるポリマー発泡体。
- 前記発泡体が前記クレイ以外の核剤を含まないか又はポリマー100重量部当り0.05重量部未満しか含まない請求項1に記載の発泡体。
- 前記発泡体が、ASTM法D−3576に従って測定した、セルサイズが0.2〜2mmの第1セルとセルサイズが0.2mm未満の第2セルとを含む請求項1に記載の発泡体。
- 前記クレイがカオリナイト群の2層鉱物、スメクタイト群の3層鉱物及びそれらの塩からなる群から選ばれる請求項1に記載の発泡体。
- 前記クレイがハロイサイトである請求項1に記載の発泡体。
- 前記クレイが海泡石である請求項1に記載の発泡体。
- 前記ポリマーがポリスチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、ポリカーボネート及びポリエステルのポリマー並びにコポリマーからなる群から選ばれる請求項1に記載の発泡体。
- 前記発泡体が、製造後1日以内には、二酸化炭素、水及び少なくとも1種の追加の発泡剤を含む請求項1に記載の発泡体。
- 前記発泡体が、製造後1日以内には、二酸化炭素及び水を含むが、追加の発泡剤を本質的に含まない請求項1に記載の発泡体。
- カーボンブラック、グラファイト、二酸化珪素及び金属フレーク又は粉からなる群より選ばれる断熱剤を更に含む請求項1に記載の発泡体。
- (a)発泡を妨げる初期圧において、ポリマー及び少なくとも1種の、膨潤せずに水を吸収する吸収性クレイを含む可塑化ポリマー組成物と、発泡剤組成物重量当り、0.5〜99.5重量%の二酸化炭素及び0.5〜80重量%の水を含む発泡剤組成物とを合することによって、発泡性ポリマー組成物を製造し;そして
(b)初期圧からより低い圧力に減圧することによって、前記発泡性ポリマー組成物を、多数のセルを含むポリマー発泡体へと発泡させることを含んでなり、前記発泡性組成物がポリマー100重量部当り0.2重量部未満のベントナイトを含み且つ前記発泡体が二峰性セルサイズ分布を有し、そして前記吸収性クレイがカオリナイト群の2層鉱物からなる群より選ばれる請求項1に記載の発泡体の製造方法。 - 水が、発泡剤重量当り少なくとも3重量%で且つポリマー100重量部当り少なくとも0.3重量部の濃度で存在する請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記発泡剤組成物が少なくとも1種の追加発泡剤を更に含む請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記の追加発泡剤がエタノール、プロパン、n−ブタン、イソブタン、シクロペンタン、n−ペンタン、イソペンタン、1,1,1,2−テトラフルオロエタン、1,1,1,3,3−ペンタフルオロプロパン及び1,1,1,3,3−ペンタフルオロブタンからなる群から選ばれる請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーがポリスチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、ポリカーボネート及びポリエステルのポリマー並びにコポリマーからなる群から選ばれる請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記クレイがカオリナイト群の2層鉱物、スメクタイト群の3層鉱物及びそれらの塩からなる群から選ばれる請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記クレイが海泡石である請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記発泡性組成物がカーボンブラック、グラファイト、二酸化珪素及び金属フレーク又は粉からなる群より選ばれる断熱剤を更に含む請求項11に記載の方法。
- 請求項1に記載の発泡体を含んでなる製品。
