Description
ては、発光物質を含む発光層を陽極及び陰極の電極層で挟んだ構成の発光素子を有しており、陽極側から注入された正孔と、陰極側から注入された電子とを発光能を有する発光層内で再結合し、励起状態から失括する際に発光する現象を利用している。

また、上記発光装置においては、前記放熱層上に、ガス透過性を有する保護膜が設けられていることが好ましい。
カリ金属に対するブロッキング効果があり、且つ、放熱効果をも有する絶縁膜として作用することになり、発光素子の劣化を抑制することができる。
基板2の材料としては、ポリオレフィン、ポリエステル、ポリアクリレート、ポリカーボネート、ポリエーテルサルホン、ポリエーテルケトンなどのプラスチックや、ガラスなどの透明材料が採用可能であり、ここではガラスが用いられている。
