Description
本発明によれば、雌ねじ付きファスナの一端に隣接して位置する定置ノズルを用いて、均一且つ連続的フルオロポリマー被覆が雌ねじ付きファスナを横断して得られることが判っている。驚くべきことに、パウダーを塗布しながらファスナの対向端部を遮蔽又は閉止することにより、部分的に所望の被覆が達成される。
本発明の方法及び装置は様々な雌ねじ付きファスナに都合良く使用し得る。このようなファスナは、ねじ孔を有するファスナ本体を含み、そのねじ孔はファスナ本体の対向端部へ延出して、ファスナ本体の各端部に第1と第2の開口を規定する。このファスナは、個々に、積み重ねで供給してもよく、或いはワイア上に互いに列にしてリール上で供給してもよい。

Claims (10)
- 雌ねじ付きファスナのねじへフルオロポリマー被覆を塗布する方法であって、前記ファスナは、本体と、この本体の対向端部へ延出して前記ファスナにおける対向する第1及び第2の開口を規定するねじ孔とを有し、前記方法は、
前記ファスナをそのねじ孔を所定の向きにしながら移送経路に沿って移動させる段階と、
前記ファスナの第1の開口を閉止する段階と、
第1の開口を閉止しながら、フルオロポリマーパウダーを載せて運ぶ空気流を第2の開口を通じて前記ファスナの前記ねじ孔へ指向させ、前記空気流は、前記ファスナの第2の開口から軸方向に変移した位置に配置されたノズルから発せられることにより、前記ファスナの前記ねじ上にフルオロポリマーパウダー被覆を形成する段階と、
前記フルオロポリマーパウダー被覆を加熱して前記ファスナの前記ねじ上にほぼ連続的なフルオロポリマー膜を形成する段階とを含む方法。 - 請求項1記載の方法において、前記ファスナの第1の開口が、この第1の開口を横切る遮蔽体を位置決めすることにより閉止される方法。
- 請求項2記載の方法において、前記遮蔽体が回転ホイールを含み、この回転ホイールは、前記ファスナの端部に当接することにより前記ファスナの第1の開口を閉止する外面を有する方法。
- 請求項3記載の方法において、前記ホイールは更に、前記ファスナをその移送経路に沿って移動させることを支援する方法。
- 請求項1記載の方法において、前記フルオロポリマーパウダーを載せた空気流を前記ファスナへ指向させる間、前記ノズルが定置している方法。
- 請求項1記載の方法において、前記ノズルが、前記フルオロポリマーパウダーを載せて前記ファスナへ入る発散空気流を生成するディフューザーを含む方法。
- 雌ねじ付きファスナのねじへフルオロポリマー被覆を塗布する装置であって、前記ファスナは、本体と、この本体の対向端部へ延出して前記ファスナにおける対向する第1及び第2の開口を規定するねじ孔とを有し、前記装置は、
前記ファスナをそのねじ孔を所定の向きにしながら移送経路に沿って移動させるコンベアと、
前記ファスナの移送経路に隣接して位置する閉塞部材であって、前記ファスナ本体の一端部に係合して前記ファスナの第1の開口を閉止する面を有する閉塞部材と、
前記ファスナの移送経路に隣接し、且つ前記ファスナの第2の開口から軸方向に変移して位置するノズルであって、このノズルは圧縮空気入口、フルオロポリマーパウダー入口、及び出口ポートを有することにより、第1の開口を閉止しながら、フルオロポリマーパウダーを載せて運ぶ空気流を第2の開口を通じて前記ファスナの前記ねじ孔へ指向させて前記ファスナの前記ねじ上にフルオロポリマーパウダー被覆を形成するノズルと、
前記ファスナの移送経路に沿って位置し、前記フルオロポリマーパウダーをその融点へ加熱して前記ファスナの前記ねじ上にフルオロポリマー膜を形成する加熱要素とを備える装置。 - 請求項7記載の装置において、前記閉塞部材が回転ホイールを含み、この回転ホイールは、前記ファスナの端部に当接することにより前記ファスナの第1の開口を閉止する外面を有する装置。
- 請求項7記載の装置において、前記ノズルの出口ポートが、ディフューザーを含むことにより、前記フルオロポリマーパウダーを載せて運ぶ空気流を発散パターンで放出する装置。
- 請求項7記載の装置において、前記ノズルが、前記ファスナの前記ねじに付着しなかったフルオロポリマーパウダーを回収するようにされた環状真空ポートを含む装置。
