ところで、トランペットやホルン等の管楽器においては、複数の演奏操作子(ピストン弁)の押圧操作の組み合わせによって発生すべき楽音の音高の候補が決定され、さらに、マウスピース等の口入力部の入力によりアンブッシュア情報が決定されることで、唯一の音高を有した楽音が発生される仕組みになっている。このような複雑な発音形態をとるため、管楽器演奏の困難性があった。それを支援するシステムとしては、電子管楽器が好適であり、口入力部の簡易化技術と演奏操作子ガイド技術の開発が望まれていた。しかしながら、単に、上述の鍵盤を発光指示する演奏ガイド技術を電子管楽器に用いたとしても、音高決定操作子の一部が指示されるだけであり、視認容易性の点でも解決すべき問題が多々あった。
