そこで、本発明はかかる従来の課題に鑑みて、EPDM製のウエザーストリップの溶解度指数(以下SP値と記す)よりも所定値多いSP値を有する材質の芯材を用いることで、融着を起こし難くしてコア間の窪みを縮小し、湾曲部への追従性の改善及び外観の改善等を図った自動車用ウエザーストリップを提供することを目的とする。

また本発明は、EPDM製のウエザーストリップ2の断面略U字状のトリム部やオープニングトリムに押出し成形により芯材1が埋設され、その埋設される芯材1は、複数のコア1aを有し各コア1a間に切欠き部1bが形成されるとともに、その溶解度指数(以下SP値と記す)において、前記EPDMのSP値16(MPa) 1/2 よりも2(MPa) 1/2 以上好ましくは6(MPa) 1/2 以上多い合成樹脂により形成され、前記芯材1の切欠き部1bに当たる部分に生じる窪み3を縮小させるようにしたものである。
また、芯材4が、SP値において前記EPDMのSP値16(MPa)1/2よりも2(MPa)1/2以上好ましくは6(MPa)1/2以上多いポリアミド(ナイロン)樹脂により形成されたものである。
