【0019】
<実施例>
【0025】
<比較例1>
【0026】
【0027】
<比較例2>

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an organic electroluminescent element, and more particularly to an organic electroluminescent film structure suitable for an organic electroluminescent element of a type in which emitted light is extracted from an organic electroluminescent film forming side of an opaque substrate. The present invention relates to a luminescence element.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Research on organic electroluminescence devices (hereinafter also simply referred to as organic EL devices) from the discovery of the phenomenon of electroluminescence (hereinafter also simply referred to as EL) emission by carrier injection in single crystals such as anthracene that emit strong fluorescence. Began.
[0003]
Organic EL devices are being considered as display devices with features such as high contrast, high-speed response, and no dependence on viewing angle, and are being considered for application to mobile terminal devices and personal computer displays. Display panels have been put into practical use as area color display elements in which monocolors are partially combined.
[0004]
Full-color display is possible by combining display elements corresponding to red (R), green (G), and blue (B) of organic EL elements. Various studies have been made on elements.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
As a method for displaying an image using such an organic EL element, a passive (simple) matrix method (for example, disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2-37385) and an active matrix method (for example, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 5-107561). (Disclosed in the gazette).
[0011]
In the passive matrix system, the anode of the display area is composed of, for example, stripe lines of a plurality of ITO films extending in parallel to each other in the horizontal direction, and the cathode is composed of stripe lines of, for example, aluminum films extending in parallel to each other in the vertical direction. The intersection corresponds to one pixel and is operated by an external driving driver IC connected to each stripe line, and is currently in practical use. However, in this method, since the line driving is in principle, as the number of scanning lines increases, the luminance of necessary light emission increases proportionally, increasing power consumption, deteriorating elements due to increased current, etc. This is not suitable for high-definition image display.
[0012]
In contrast, the active matrix method has a structure in which switching elements (thin film transistors) and driving elements are arranged on a substrate corresponding to each pixel in the display area, and each pixel can be lit during the frame time. The required luminance may be equal to the practical luminance. However, since the emitted light is extracted from the opposite side of the substrate on which the organic EL element is formed (that is, the substrate side), in order to extract more emitted light, the size of the switching element and the driving element is large. It is necessary to increase the aperture ratio of light by making it as small as possible. However, since there is a limit to the high integration of each element, emitted light is taken from the substrate opposite to the side where the organic EL element is formed. It is difficult to obtain sufficient luminance in the method of taking out.
[0013]
On the other hand, a single-crystal silicon is used as a substrate, a MOS transistor is formed on the substrate as an active matrix driving element, and a cathode, an organic EL layer, and an anode are formed on the substrate in this order, A method of extracting emitted light from the EL layer side is disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 11-54268.
This is the reverse of the conventional structure in which the anode, the organic EL layer, and the cathode are formed in this order, and the aperture ratio of emitted light is maximized, but simple. However, this configuration also has a problem that it is difficult to obtain sufficient luminance of emitted light because the structure is not optimized.
[0014]
In this case, the anode formed on the organic EL layer needs to be composed of a transparent conductive film. However, under conditions for forming a transparent conductive film having a high light transmittance and a low resistance value, the organic EL layer is used. There was a problem that there was a possibility of damaging the characteristics of the.
[0015]
Accordingly, the present invention provides an organic electroluminescence device that can solve the above-mentioned problems and can extract emitted light with high luminous efficiency from the organic electroluminescence layer side formed on the substrate in the organic electroluminescence device. It is intended to do.
[0016]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
As means for achieving the above object, the present invention relates to an organic electroluminescence device comprising a substrate, a cathode sequentially formed on the substrate, an electron transport layer, a light emitting layer, a hole transport layer, and an anode. An organic electroluminescent device comprising: a hole blocking layer provided between the electron transporting layer and the light emitting layer; and lithium fluoride and copper sulfide provided between the hole transporting layer and the anode. The light emission efficiency of the organic EL device of Comparative Example 1 was measured, and a value of 1.36 cd / A was obtained (shown in Table 1 below).
[0026]
[Table 1]
[0027]
<Comparative Example 2>
In the example, an organic EL element 20B of comparative example 2 was produced in the same manner as in the example except that the
A voltage was applied to the organic EL element of Comparative Example 2 to examine light emission, but no light emission was observed even when 20 V was applied.
[0028]
The results of Examples and Comparative Examples 1 and 2 are examined as follows.
First, as for the
[0029]
According to Table 1, the luminous efficiency of the example is 2.62 cd / A, which is about twice as high as 1.36 cd / A of Comparative Example 1. This is because, in the organic EL layer of the embodiment, a hole blocking layer made of BCP is provided between the electron transporting layer and the electron transporting light emitting layer, so that the balance between electrons and holes injected into the light emitting layer is balanced. It is considered that the luminous efficiency increased due to the increase in these bonds.
[0030]
From these results, in the organic electroluminescence element that extracts emitted light in the direction of the side where the organic EL layer of the substrate is formed, a cathode, an organic EL layer, a protected layer, and an anode are formed on the substrate in this order, Further, it can be seen that the organic EL layer can be made high in the light emitting efficiency of the organic EL element by being formed of the electron transport layer, the hole block layer, and the electron transport light emitting layer.
[0031]
The materials constituting the cathode, the electron transport layer, the hole block layer, the electron transport light emitting layer, the hole transport layer, and the anode are not limited to the materials of the examples. For example, the material constituting the cathode is a material that injects electrons into the electron transporting layer, reflects the emitted light emitted from the electron transporting light emitting layer with a high reflectance, and has a low work function of silver (Ag), Metals such as tin (Sn), lead (Pb), magnesium (Mg), manganese (Mn), and alloys thereof may be used.
[0032]
Further, as a material constituting the electron transport layer, a perylene derivative, a bisstyryl derivative, a pyrazine derivative, or the like may be used.
As a material constituting the hole transport layer, a diamine derivative, a benzidine derivative, a stilamine derivative, a triphenylmethane derivative, a hydrazone derivative, or the like may be used.
The hole blocking layer is not limited to BCP as long as it allows electrons to pass through and blocks the hole. Bis (2-methyl-8-hydroxyquinolinolato) p-phenylphenoxyaluminum (BAlq ), 3- (4-biphenylyl) -4-phenyl-5-t-butylphenyl- [1,2,4] -triazole (TAZ), or the like may be used.
[0033]
As the transparent conductive film that can be used for the anode, any film may be used as long as it injects holes into the hole transport layer and efficiently transmits the emitted light emitted from the light emitting layer. It is not limited to ITO (Indium-Tin Oxide: In 2 O 3 —SnO 2 ), tin dioxide (SnO 2 ), tin dioxide-antimony mixture (SnO 2 + Sb), indium oxide (In 2 O 3 ) , Zinc oxide-aluminum mixture (ZnO + Al), those containing a small amount of additives, nickel (Ni), gold (Au), platinum (Pt), or other metals formed into a very thin film, It may be a mixture containing the above additives or a mixture thereof.
[0034]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, in the organic electroluminescence device of the present invention, a hole blocking layer is provided between the electron transport layer and the light emitting layer, and lithium fluoride and copper sulfide are provided between the hole transport layer and the anode. since there is provided, it can be provided an electron transporting layer, a hole blocking layer, an emission layer and an organic electroluminescence device capable of emitted light with high luminous efficiency from the organic electroluminescent layer side composed of a hole transport layer.
