この発明は、一般廃棄物や産業廃棄物を固形燃料(以下RDFと記す)化する際に、RDF成形機へ供給する廃棄物の中から同成形機の運転に支障をきたす恐れのある金属類、石、陶器、ガラス類などの不燃物を主体とする成形不適物(以下異物という)を予め除去しておくのに用いられる異物選別装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
家庭から排出される一般廃棄物やプラスチックなどの産業廃棄物は、現在その多くが焼却処分されている。しかし、近年サーマルリサイクルの観点から、これらの可燃物をRDF化し、熱源として再利用することが求められるようになってきた。

このRDF製造プロセスにおいて、異物が混入した可燃性の廃棄物をそのままRDF成形機へ供給すると、異物が成形機の運転に支障を来たすことがある。そこで異物となる金属類、石、陶器およびガラス類などを予め除去しておくことが、成形機の損傷を防ぎかつ成形機の安定的運転を確保するために必要となる。

従来より、異物選別装置としては、各種風力選別装置や金属探知器などが用いられている。風力選別装置は気流を利用して、廃棄物中の比重の大きい物と比重の小さい物とを分別する装置である。また金属探知器は、金属探知器をコンベヤ上方に設置し、コンベヤで搬送される廃棄物中の金属異物により生じる磁力線の変化を起電力として検出、増幅し、これによってリレーを作動させるものである。しかし、これらの装置には下記の問題がある。まず、風力選別機は、1.選別機本体の他、ファン、サイクロン、ダクト等を備えるため、装置が大がかりとなる、2.ランニングコストが高くつく、3.スケールアップが困難である、といった問題を有する。また、金属探知器には、1.対象が金属異物に限られる、2.廃棄物に対しては、検出精度の調整が困難である、3.ダンパなどの分別機能が別途必要となる、といった問題がある。

この発明の目的は、風力選別機および金属探知器が抱える上記諸問題を克服した異物選別装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
この発明による異物選別装置は、廃棄物を、可燃物を主体とする成形適合物と不燃物を主体とする異物とに分離するための装置で、廃棄物投入口の下方に異物反発用のロータが設けられ、ロータより低いレベルに成形適合物排出口と異物排出口とが、前者がロータ寄りに後者がロータから離れて設けられている異物選別装置において、異物選別装置のケーシングの上端一側に廃棄物投入口が設けられ、その内部にスクリューコンベヤが水平に配され、異物反発用ロータの形状は円筒形であって回転軸は水平でスクリューコンベヤに直交する方向にあり、運転中、異物反発用ロータは高速回転させられていて、廃棄物は、スクリューコンベヤによって定量的に廃棄物投入口から回転状態のロータの上面に供給され、異物反発用のロータの周面は断面鋸歯の形状を有することを特徴とするものである。

このようにして、RDF成形機の運転に支障をきたす異物のみを精度良く選別・回収することができるとともに、可燃物を主体とする成形適合物のみを下方へ送ることができる。

また選別された異物は、純度が高く、本来廃棄物の分別回収がなされておれば成形適合物に混入するはずのない物であるので、異物除去後の廃棄物回収量は減少し、搬出等の作業もし易くなる。また、異物はそのまま埋立処分することが可能となる。

図1において、異物選別装置のケーシング(1)の上端一側に廃棄物投入口(2)が設けられ、その内部にスクリューコンベヤ(3)が水平に配されている。廃棄物投入口(2)の下方に異物反発用のロータ(4)が設けられている。異物反発用ロータ(4)は、ステンレス鋼製のものであり、その形状は円筒形であって回転軸は水平でスクリューコンベヤ(3)に直交する方向にある。ロータ(4)より低いレベルに成形適合物排出口(5)と異物排出口(6)とが、前者がロータ寄りに後者がロータから離れて設けられている。
